I love this game. I have invested 15+ years into it. I came from SWG when they butchered that game so perhaps I am overly sensitive to stupid changes that result in the decline of great games.
I find the current iteration of the game annoying and the current leadership feckless, but the concept of the game, the people in the game? Absolutely top notch. Worth the sub time just to see what the art team comes up with IMO.
But there is a huge difference in engagement between “I want to see the story and the art” and “I want to play the game in its current form”.

Man this triggered my memories of the old Wells Fargo morning huddles about sales…
“Alright guys how many dailies can we get out today!”
That would be awesome and frightening all at once lol.

Not that this is a great idea, but from now on, being an Officer will be prestigious as you are clearly trusted above all others. That’s nice for Officers.
The rank has gone up in value for sure, and wont be handed out without serious deliberation.

It should only be handed out to players the GM can trust and share the same vision for the guild.

This is very true–and is exactly the problem. There are some permissions under “is officer” I’d like to offer to other ranks. Not all the permissions, mind you. Just one or two. But since this change, I can no longer do that.
Once again, I remind readers of this thread that Ion already said this change was not intentional and they are working on a fix. I’m still posting because I don’t want him to forget he said that.
If we got granular permissions back, GM’s who are happy with all-in-one permissions could still give all the permissions to a single rank if they so choose. There is no down-side to fixing the permissions. It just would give GM’s the ability to assign permissions as they choose.

Then I got some bad news for you.

I am posting right now because I don’t want Blizzard to even imagine this change is okay. Yes, we’ve put up with it for about a year and a half now. No, no one has died (though some have said their guilds did). Neither of those things make this change okay.
I honestly don’t know why such a seemingly simple request has taken this long to address. I don’t know if it’s a manpower issue, a complexity problem, or what. It surely can’t be because the problem isn’t clear. Even Ion admitted the problem was obvious.
I wish I could let it drop, secure in the belief that the problem’s been noted and it will be fixed without further encouragement on our part. It’s kind of sad that I’ve never felt Blizzard can be trusted to take care of anything without constant nagging.

Another new member requested an invite. I absolutely love that we can now invite when folks are offline.
The guild finder changes leave me hoping they’ll make similar improvements for the guild management and guilds overall. I’m just not very confident about when any such changes will happen.

Obligatory “I would like the permissions fixed, please” post.
Seriously, there are too many permissions still lumped under “is officer”. I’d really like to parcel some of them out to different guild members, but I can’t do that without giving the members all the officer permissions. This just doesn’t work for me. I’ve got no option but to keep all the permissions for myself.
I’ve seen some comments here saying that having the permissions split up is “micro-managing” but it’s really the opposite. Right now I’m micro-managing because no one else has the permission to do anything. I want to let them take on some of the responsibilities but not all.
Please Blizz, fix this.

A very safe and Merry Christmas (happy holidays) to all of the posters who’ve contributed in one way or another over the last year and a half-ish here.
Here’s to a granular guild permissions filled (Happy) New Year in 2020.

Happy Holidays and thank you all for keeping this alive!

Hope those who celebrated it had a safe and merry Christmas. We didn’t get the gift we wanted to solve the issue, but nonetheless, I’m at least thankful for the improved guild finder.

Too much ham.
Not enough customization.

Another new guildie joined up. The new finder has definitely improved recruiting. Don’t you think other suggested overhauls would have even more positive impact on guilds? I do.
Here’s hoping for granular permissions in the new year.

Posting because I really want these permissions fixed, and I’ve heard nothing beyond Ion’s comment that they’re “working on it”.
I got another new member in my guild today. They’ve all been really nice, but since it’s an alt guild, no one wants to take on too much responsibility. It would be great if I could pass out just one or two permissions to those who want to help but don’t want to be overwhelmed.

Just reposting my reasons for wanting the Guild UI to be reverted.

I’m wondering if anyone has seen any changes on the PTR? I don’t have time to mess around there (and I prefer playing when patches/expansions are officially released). I like to hope Blizz is doing as Ion said and actually working on the problem, but if it’s not on the PTR, it makes me feel they haven’t solved anything.

I wonder how long this thread can go, while Blizz continues to ignore us.

I have already vowed to keep posting until they either fix the permissions or close the thread.
According to Ion, they’re not ignoring us. They’re aware of the problem, which wasn’t intentional, and are working on a fix. Admittedly, he said this so long ago, I can’t even remember when he said it. During a Q&A maybe in late spring?
Whatever. Just because I don’t remember when he said it doesn’t mean I’ll forget it was said. It’s quoted in this thread a few times, so it can be found.
Even if Ion had never acknowledged our issue, I’d keep posting. I’m the tenacious sort. (Some might say stubborn.)
