Haven’t replied in a while because being a GM isn’t for me, and tbh I’ve just gotten pessimistic about the chances Blizz will fix anything, or even give us an update.
But I’m not so pessimistic that I’ve abandoned the idea entirely.
Give us back granular permissions please, Blizz. You’ve had more than enough feedback and time to give us an update, bare minimum. It’s the least you can do.

Slightly off topic, but I’m SUPER proud that one of my guildies helped create this. Jowbulla wrote the lyrics. He also contributes to writing our guild message of the day jokes, and running our guild’s monthly transmog contest.
Jow, I’m proud and honored that I get to spend hours in discord with you telling bad jokes and laughing it up. You’re an asset to our guild, and to the wow community.
Blizzard, please give me granular permissions so I can better recognize this man’s talents.

This… was awesome.
You should put it in a thread of its own–but I love that it’s gracing this one.
Oh, and…

The lyrics do have a thread. I’m not sure if the video does tho…

Then put the video in the lyrics thread.

So, refresh my memory. Have they done anything about this since the thread’s inception?

There was a new guild recruitment UI on the PTR (you could search and even invite people when they’re offline!), and we were expecting it to go live with this last patch. Instead, not only did the new UI not show up, the old recruitment tab vanished. You can still access the old recruitment UI through the old guild roster, but I don’t know if anyone looking for a guild knows about that–or if most guilds even know.
So…to answer your question, so far everything they’ve done has blown up when they tried to make it live. So maybe fixing the permissions problem really is a bigger deal than we thought.

I agree. And not everyone wants all that responsibility either. If I’m online a lot during the daytime and there are a couple of things I can help the guild leader with it would be nice for the GL to be able to change something so I could help with just those couple of things. I think the guild event example is good also. It takes a lot of work to build a guild community and 1 action to blow it up. I agree with Sara.

Just posting to report no one has responded to my advert on the old guild finder. Not that I’m expecting one, mind you. But since there’s no other finder available, I’m experimenting to see if anyone even looks at the old one. Of course, permissions haven’t been fixed, either.
I’m hoping for a finder fix with Tuesday’s maintenance–it already went through PTR testing after all. I fear permissions won’t get an update until the next expansion. Of course, if nothing happens with them even then, well, we’ll know exactly where guilds stand with Blizz now, won’t we?

Still waiting and lurking.
Still hoping for that fix.

Does anyone actually use the Blizz voice chat function for guilds? I remember they tried it before and it flopped. Now with Discord and other voice chat services available it would seem redundant and unnecessary. Perhaps I am biased and ignorant to it’s utility.

I’ve never once heard of anyone using it. I actually forgot it was a thing until you brought it back up just now.

Ditto
Please fix the permissions

But, hey, we’re getting an all new AH next patch… I seriously wonder how badly they’re going to screw that up.
I’m still hoping the recruitment UI that was on the PTR will make an appearance soon. I’ve not given up on the permissions, mind you, but if they can’t even get a feature to go live from the PTR, they’ll never be able to fix the permissions. So, fingers are crossed that they get that bug sorted out so they can get our permissions separated out again.

Going to go low and hope things get fixed.
But meanwhile my account will be cancelled today for other reasons (which will be stated on our guild website because bans).
Much love to all of you on this thread and I hope to see some changes that will make me come back soon.

We’ve used it once or twice when Discord was down, it works perfectly well, but just isn’t necessary.
Indeed, same. My sub just renewed on the 4th, disappointingly, so they won’t see any impact from my cancellation for six months, but I salute you, Venjin and also hope to see changes.

So sorry to see you go.
Now I’ve got even more reasons to hope for significant guild changes.
Edit: And now I see the issue re: Hong Kong and am thoroughly disgusted by Blizzard’s actions. Gaming is my escape. I don’t mix it with politics. But I’m sincerely considering joining you, Venjin.

Principles matter. It only takes a few moments to post something.
Yes, they do. Principles should matter at all times. But that can literally mean in this situation now, we should of followed (Or they really) a principle. They didn’t, they simply went the business route of a generic statement.
Welcome to the whole situation.
