Being busy, or simply choosing not to post, is not the same as not caring. If I posted about everything I care about, I’d never get to actually play. Given how many island expeditions Method is running, I imagine that they are quite busy. And frankly, if I had to choose between posting on the forums or doing what I was passionate about (in their case, prepping for the world first race), I’d make the same choice.

I just happen to be in a situation where I have time for forum posting about guilds and playing the game. Not everyone has that luxury.

I cannot help my wife effective run the guild at all times. She cannot be online at all times to assist guildies in different timezones who may need something extra from the bank or want to have an alt invited in, or assist in some other officer/executive manner.

I would love to have officers who can help fulfill these roles, however the permissions allowing them near unlimited access to guild functions betrays our internal safety protocols designed to prevent a recurrence of abuse of power which we have previously dealt with (and solved until the changes).

This affects me adversely. This also affects my wife adversely. I speak only for us, and no others. When I say we, I refer only to my wife and I.

Please fix the issue so I can get back to growing our guild.

It’s been awhile since I posted in this thread too. I see lots of other people posting every time I come to the forums though, so I haven’t felt a need to bump it. If you think your posts are “the most activity” the thread has had, then you are delusional.

I still want my guild controls fixed. In my own guilds, I can’t let anyone except my own alts be “officers” because the “is officer” bundle contains permissions that I would never allow anyone who is not me to have.

Ummm… I’m a guild leader, and I was never asked (by you or Blizzard–or anyone else for that matter).
After speaking to the leaders of the five other guilds that make up our core raid groups, none of them were approached by you either… Nor were any other guild leaders they know…
None of the several dozen guild leaders in any of the active social media and discord groups were approached and questioned by you
That’s a cross-section of nine or so different realms with very large, active guilds that have never heard of you.

And every single guild leader I know outside of this thread wants the controls fixed.

So, at the very least, your statement shows your negligence. At most, it’s a bald-faced lie–which makes you a troll. And while feeding a troll can be beneficial in the short term, they typically don’t last long when faced with real intelligent, coherent responses backed by actual facts and evidence. Not hatin’, just statin’…

So, going back through the thread, I found this amazing idea (from August) for an interface that would easily let GM’s set things up the way they wish. This would work to customize the permissions as well.

As guild masters and officers we tend to focus on tabular data a lot more then the average World of Warcraft player. In some ways a lot of our management “visually” resembles data spreadsheets.

One thing that bugged me from the older UI interface is how some of the column data was presented. At times certain columns I would of liked presented with different columns in different panes of the old interface. I would have to flip between a lot of the pane dropdowns to get specific pieces of information I would need.

I suggest a system similar to the chat system where you check off what columns you want to see in one guild pane. They should also support multiple guild panes to exist (up to 10). This way I can mix and match columns as I see fit. Some pieces of information are useful to others then others. I believe Blizzard can give a lot of flexibility to the guild interface without necessarily having to design what people expect what and where. This allows GMs and Officers to decide how they like to organize there guild tools. Also removes pressure of Blizzard for deciding the “best case scenario” for the design of the guild interface.

One might say what about the horizontal scroll situation and when to account for too many columns in one pane. I say there is a solution to that also. Allow a default value of 50% of screen expansion before a horizontal scrollbar is introduced, and allow this default value to be configured. Blizzard cannot account for all the different screen size situations. Height should also be configurable as well.

Also a good idea would be a “Show this column in collapse mode”. The collapse mode for the guild roster in the current community UI panels could be extended to this as well. When I am managing a guild I want to see a lot more information. When quickly looking at the roster for small key pieces of information I do not need the entire panel.

Of course, since we can’t even get a simple “Advanced” tab for the controls, I doubt this nice organizational idea will even get any further than the forums.

Still doing my read-through, seeing post after post basically saying “please revert”. Here is a post that brings up something I’d not thought of before:

If rank-specific permissions cannot be re-implemented under the current combined Communities + Guild schema, perhaps these two totally different types of social groups (i.e., 1 to many vs 1 to 1) should not have been tied together.

If the eventual aim is to allow us to join more than one guild per character (changing guilds from 1:1 to 1:many), then cool, but you need to add back the old rank permissions functionality.

It never occurred to me that they might allow players to join more than one guild at a time. I don’t think that’s where they’re headed (or that it’s a good idea) but I can see how the communities and guilds being tied together would make it look like a possibility.

If that really ever happened, we would be even more in need of having our guild permissions separated again. You can gradually build trust in a closed group, but you could never be too sure of someone’s loyalty if they’re a member of multiple guilds.

Either way, we need our permissions back. Please!
