I posted in another thread about this (back before the forum transfer), but figure that I might as well add it to this thread as well.
Some of the permissions in the “Is Officer” package are ones that I would only give to my own alts. There is absolutely no way that I would ever allow anyone who is not me to have those specific permissions. The package also contains permissions that I would have no issue allowing regular guild members to hold. I find it absurd that such extremes would be bundled into the same category.
I’ve tried, and I cannot fathom why Blizzard would implement something that not only encourages poor management, but actually FORCES it. Why on earth would they force us to use practices that they themselves would not use?
Or…puts on tin foil hat…Blizzard uses very poor management practices and simply didn’t notice that they were poor practices. I suppose that might also explain some other things. (I’m looking at you, azerite armor.)
Specifically. Two of the lumped together permissions in the “is officer” nonsense include "Edit Guild Info and “Edit Message of the Day” Our guild has been alive and kicking since late Vanilla. Never in all that time, has anyone other than the Guild Leader held those permissions.
Not like Blizzard has paid much attention to guild leader complaints in the Guild UI and Permissions thread.
It’s been a long time since Blizzard has shown any love for guilds. No surprise that guilds are dying off."
Nothing Earth shattering there, but I thought it was interesting to read our plight described this way on another thread.
Edit: After some reconsideration, it occurs to me:
If the poster I quoted is correct and guilds really are “dying off” that could be very Earth shattering.
For Blizzard.
Once upon a time Blizzard understood that guilds are the backbone of Warcraft. If guilds are indeed killed off by Blizzard whether intentionally, or through their own foolishness, they truly are (as has been stated in previous posts) their own “Wow killer”
I wish we could find out if anything at all is being done. It’s great that they acknowledged the problems Xacopane explained to them. I also understand the resources issue. However, this issue is not one that can be ignored without it causing huge problems down the road. It’s like a crack in a dam. You can’t just pretend it’s not there and hope it’ll fix itself.
I wonder if they need to keep extending the post count on these new forums like they did;on the old… if they don’t, they’ll ignore this thread forever now…
Guild rank permissions definitely need to be changed. We need more player options not have them stripped from us. We wont add anymore to our officer ranks until this is fixed. The only ones who are officers now are good friends we have known for many years and trust.
I know its frustrating not hearing anything from the guys in blue… but I know they are still reading this. Keep pushing this thread to the top. Keep voicing your concerns in detail.
Someone posted a link to an Overwatch thread that was 20k posts, but no idea if it were extended to that point or not.
Please change back guild UI and permissions to what they were before, WoW devs. It does matter that so many people don’t like the changes you’ve made to them. Thanks.
The request for more feedback is why I was quoting posts from earlier in this thread and bringing them “forward”. You know, because we’ve already given a ton of feedback here, and I was kinda sorta sarcastically pointing that out.
I’ve not quoted any of those old posts since these new forums launched. Partly because I lost my place. Mostly because going to that kind of trouble just to be ignored is high on my list of things I really don’t have time for.
But I might go back to doing that just to show Blizz how stupid stubborn I am.
We’ve given reasons galore why having all the permissions lumped together is a horrible idea. We’ve explained multiple times how this change has messed up any number of guilds.
Why the heck can’t we at least get the courtesy of a response? Is it “working as intended” or are there actually some changes in the works? OR DO YOU STILL WANT MORE FEEDBACK, BLIZZ???
(Interesting aside: Even if you type a pile of question marks, the forums will apparently only insert three, maximum. I guess those pixels can get expensive, so we don’t want to be wasteful.)
So, I’m seeing how hard it is to go back and quote older posts to highlight them and give them extra exposure. This post from Greenstone (mentioning an idea from earlier in the thread) is really pinpointing a solution to our dilemma. Give us options.
I’ve been with Wow since nearly the start, and it honestly pains me to say that this issue may also be the last straw that broke this camel’s back.
I don’t hate BfA. However, it seems to be the consensus that it’s a quality challenged xpack at best. At least as of this writing.
What I do hate is the way that Blizzard blindsided me and every single guild leader on Wow by robbing us of guild control.
I’ve stated this before, but I’ll state at again for our friends at Blizz.
Guilds are Wow’s original communities. They are often the glue that keeps real money paying people subscribed to an otherwise questionable (or even unpopular) xpack. I don’t know if this is true for other guilds, but speaking for our guild, we didn’t lose half the guildies during WoD (another “questionable” xpack) that we’ve lost already in BfA! Why? Guild control!
D**n it all Blizz! Fix this issue please, so we can do our jobs, and help keep subs up!
