The new AH bans is the biggest embarrassment in a while

I was not banned myself. But I was weary enough to NOT use the auction house to sell anything during all these changes. That’s a huge problem though, because it’s entirely at fault of Blizzard. If players have to go into a untrustworthy mindset, and you do something like this that even further confirms it? What kind of image are you creating?

I know people are talking about this already but NOT ENOUGH. This is a BIG mistake by Blizzard and they are sweep banning people who were unaware of a bug that they OVERLOOKED in a 8+ HOUR maintenance day.

You better give these players massive compensations.

I haven’t heard of anyone getting banned yet…only suspended as they work through the accounts that may be affected.

Did actual bans go out or are you talking about them freezing accounts while they roll them back and remove the gold they shouldn’t have gotten?

Suspension/ban I used interchangeably. Sorry. Yeah.

What makes me even angrier is seeing all the Gold Text posters damage controlling this. Blizzard reps won’t even come out and say anything and the only Gold Text we see is just damage control like (paraphrasing) “It’s impossible to test all outcomes!”

That is a HUGE difference. Yeah, it sucks that people still have their accounts locked…but it would be a much bigger deal if Blizzard banned everyone.

CC members do not work for Blizz, same as MVPs. They’re just players expressing their opinions like everyone else.

“Whoops I accidentally duped millions of gold multiple times, officer”.

Yeah but their role is pretty obvious.

It is. I come from a few internet circles where ban/suspension are used interchangeably but I made a mistake referring to it like that here.

They aren’t wrong.

Avoiding a gold duplication bug is something an indie developer should be excused of. Not Blizzard. Sorry.

Only if you’re into conspiracy theories, I suppose. But you do you :upside_down_face:

Some of the locked accounts probably deserve bans and that’s probably what Blizz is trying to work out as well.

Same people who dump the ‘Have a penny, need a penny’ tray into their pockets. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m pretty adamantly against most conspiracy theories. Claiming that CC members are more inclined to suck up to Blizzard by the very nature of their role is not a conspiracy theory.

If I show up to deliver a pizza to a Chris Hansen house and get swept up for a couple of hours to validate my innocence, I’d be ok if I knew the guys that brought the overnight bags were going to get their comeuppance.

Reminds me of an old Carol Burnette bit where a detective (Conway I think) is interrogating Burnette about the accidental shooting of her husband.

Detective: How many times was he shot, ma’am?
Widow: Five times.
Detective: And where was he shot?
Widow: Once in the kitchen, once in the living room, and three times in the recovery room.

Point out a major gaming studio that doesn’t encounter bugs like this then.

First time hearing this. what even happened?

they are fixing people’s accounts to revert the changes - are you sure people actually got banned? Although to be honest if you did this enough you had to have known it was broken.

I’m really tired too. Haven’t been getting much sleep lately. Have you tried melatonin? Doesn’t work for me but I know a lot of people who swear by it.

Blizzard changed the Auction House to make consumable items traded among all realms. The bug itself, I’m fuzzy on, but I’m pretty sure it had something to do with canceling an item and getting refunded more than you should.

If anyone here uses auctionator addon like me, I usually check from time to time if I’m being undercut and I’ll lower my prices.

People who clearly were not intending to abuse the bug are being suspended, yes.
