MOON GUARD WIKI
A Community Engine

The Moon Guard Wiki has long been an outstanding source of information on canon and fanon articles created by members of our community, the server. We, the administration team, are extremely happy to start a new thread on our forums to actively advertise for the Wiki. Alongside that, we are incredibly excited to use this new thread as a way to reach out and encourage new and returning players to post their stories onto our wiki. The entire administration team is here to help members of the community in putting their creations onto the wiki to share them with the rest of the server.

FAQ

Q:
What are the administrators like?

A:
The entire administration team on our wiki has pledged to never vandalize or delete content or that they may not personally like or condone such actions. Administrators are expected to be helpful and answer any user questions or concerns. We all want to provide a friendly and welcoming environment where all can contribute freely.

~

Q:
What sort of stuff should I contribute?

A:
This Moon Guard Wiki has a number of categories that you can browse and get ideas for contributing your own content. If you have a character on Moon Guard server, a good place to start would be to make a page that outlines that character’s history and whatever other details you wish to include. If you lead a guild, you are welcome to take advantage and utilize the guild recruitment section of the wiki by adding a guild recruitment article.

~

Q:
Is this wiki only restricted to role-players, or can people who only PvP or Raid contribute?

A:
This Moon Guard wiki is open to all players of Moon Guard server. Those who do not role-play are still welcome to add guild recruitment articles or list their own character progression and achievements in PvP and PvE content and network with other PvP and PvE groups. Users are also welcome to contribute their own PvP and PvE guides.

~

Q:
I have no idea how to contribute to the wiki or make things look fancy. How do I?

A:
On the main page, there is a basic tutorial for contributing content to the wiki. Something else you can do is look at other pages on the wiki and use the formatting and page layout that you like. Wikis are called open-source for a reason! If you have any other technical questions, feel free to ask myself or any of the other administrators!

~

Q:
What are the terms that people can use my content? I’m worried that people will steal my contributions without giving me credit and get away with it.

A:
All wiki sites made on the Wikia host are held to the Creative Commons Share-Alike License. In short, any content posted on the wiki can only be used elsewhere with the following conditions by law:
Content must be attributed by the specifications of the author or copyright holder.
Content can only be published under the Creative Commons Share-Alike License.

~

Q:
How will you handle cases where someone vandalizes my content?

A:
Report all vandalization to the administrators. People who maliciously vandalize content will be given temporary IP bans. Repeat offenders will be given permanent IP bans.

~

Q:
What is the administration team’s view on fanon articles and content?

A:
The very characters we write and role-play are themselves fanon - as they extend the universe of World of Warcraft. The team is in agreement that members of the community should be able to post their own fanon without prejudice or harassment from others. On the same token, we expect that people do not post slanderous articles about others.

~

Q:
What happens when two articles of the same fanon disagree?

A:
Many articles from different fan-made extra-canonical works are to be included on this wiki. There will be times when two different accounts of fanon disagree. In such cases, the account presented on this wiki will either be compiled to be a reasonable combination of the multiple cases provided, or a disambiguation of the differing accounts in question depending on what all parties want to do. Any issues of this sort can be brought to the administration team

Given the nature of this wiki’s content and the breadth of the Moon Guard Community, the Wiki Administrators have elected to establish the following Policies and Disclaimers in regards to wiki content creation, editing, attribution, and usage. Expectations for user conduct will also be listed here. All users and administrators will be held to these policies.

Users or Administrators who are found to be in violation of any of these policies herein may be reviewed for being blocked from making edits or comments on the wiki for a duration of time. Repeat offenders may receive permanent bans from wiki contribution.

Wiki Administrators will also be held to the Administrator Code of Conduct. Those who do not uphold the policies in this document will be reviewed for removal from the administration staff.

Wiki Policies

User Conduct and Harassment
Users and Administrators of the Moon Guard Wiki are expected to be cordial to one another and refrain from using excessively vulgar or inappropriate language in their discussions. Users are also expected to refrain from making attacks on groups of individuals based on their race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, or disability.

All instances of harassment or malicious attacks on said groups, documented in the form of screenshots or other tangible evidence, will be handled by the Wiki administrators on a case-by-case basis. In all cases, evidence of the harassment will be reviewed for context and severity. Victims of direct harassment will have an opportunity to provide more evidence when a case is presented, but anyone found guilty of falsifying evidence will be banned for a period of time no less than one year.

Users accused of harassment will be confronted with the evidence before the administrators make a decision. If the administrators collectively agree that the user is guilty of harassment or malicious attack far past the point of just “joking around,” he or she will be banned from making edits on the wiki for no less than three months. Repeat offenders may receive permanent bans from wiki contribution.

Vandalism and Libel
Any articles or edits that could be considered libelous or defamatory by making false or harassing accusations shall not be tolerated by the wiki team or the Moon Guard community and will be promptly dealt with. Users who are found to maliciously vandalize others’ articles will receive a minimum of a one month ban from contribution to the wiki. Repeat offenders may receive permanent bans from wiki contribution.

Content Removal
Users may remove their own created content from this wiki or request for it to be removed from the wiki by the Wiki Administrators. Users may not remove content from other users’ articles without express permission by the respective author. Users who are found to delete others’ content without justification may be banned from editing on the wiki on the grounds of vandalism.

Modifying Articles
Pages that are not dedicated to player-created stories or characters may be freely modified following the above rules. Player created fan fiction Document or Character pages should not be edited to the extent that the original ideas are altered. If you are unsure if a change will alter the original context, contact the author for permission. Authors of such pages reserve full rights to request to have a page locked and unlocked from editing by an administrator.
Please wait an hour after an article’s creation when making a spelling or categorical edit to a page that is not your own. Editing minutes after an article being created can result in the original author losing work if they were still in the middle of editing their page. While this rule is minor, users who repeatedly abuse it will be suspended for a day.

All policies can be found on the Moon Guard Wiki’s front page, under “Wiki Policies and Disclaimers”

Replying so I remember to start work on this later! I’ve been coming up with a large family of some of my characters, and so I want to have it written somewhere. The wiki is really cool, and I’m enjoying poking through creations.

Super glad the wiki exists. It’s the perfect place to store Dloin’s long and convoluted backstory!

MG :eyes::eyes::eyes:.

I’ve made two articles for my RP characters and I think I’ll be making a third in the near future. I’m one of those people that really enjoys putting character info up and making it look pretty. There’s only so much that trp can hold, so my wiki articles get a lot!

Benefits of using the Moon Guard Wiki:

There are various benefits to using the Moon Guard Wiki, especially as a newer player. Here is a list of opportunities that each individual can create for themselves upon signing up, and actively participating on the servers wiki page. Each individual on Moon Guard has their own unique skill set that can be used to contribute to the overall growth of the Wiki Page, especially newer players.

You can develop a character page, with various methods to describe your character, all of which including:

  • Character backstory,
  • Race, Gender, Cultural upbringing
  • Belief, Religion, or Philosophy they follow,
  • Birth / Death,
  • Titles, Affiliations, and Alignments with Factions,
  • Family, Houses, Orders,
  • Pictures of Artwork, House Emblems, House pages, Family pages, Order pages, etc,
  • Character history (Better done on the wiki page to prevent In game metagaming),
  • Resources for lore,
  • Roleplay Stories, Connections, and Alliances,
  • Relationship information, siblings, family info, etc…
  • Can write about in-game player based items, professions, and offer programming assistance for those that want to make items using various in game addons like GHI.
  • And much more!

Here are some of the reasons as to why these opportunities may be important to you:

  1. If you’re an artist you can portray your art on of your character, and possibly sell your artwork online (Those logistics are left up to you).
  2. If you’re an avid story writer you can possibly be picked up by a guild, in game event, or social gathering.
  3. It’ll help you prevent losing your character story if TRP3 or any other addon gets wiped.
  4. You can add affiliations on there, and people can come to you if they may need something in the future, or even hope to RP with you.
  5. You can advertise the purpose of your guild, character, or household.
  6. It’s a place to post screenshots of in game historical events, and how you relate to them!
  7. You can learn about previous characters and people that use to play the game a long time ago that may not be around anymore.
  8. It may be a place to find a guild that is suitable to your needs, and the type of RP you’re interested in.

A player by the name of Carhagen made a wonderful post here:

Please check it out, as it gives constructive ideas as to how to build a backstory, and basically gives the very basics of everything you may need to develop your character storyline.
