I’ve proposed this before, they keep character performance metrics so why not award purely based on those. You do 0 damage, 0 healing, don’t defend nodes nor carry flags you don’t get any honor.
It actually could take months to get ideal secondary stats and corruptions. That’s also if you’re actually doing a decent amount of PvE content.
You’re expecting people to spend a lot of time in non-PvP content just to be allowed to do PvP. That’s laughable at best.
Terrible design + terrible expectations from unreasonable players.
Also, once again, how can any rational human being think it’s reasonable to have a queue system that throws everyone together and just expect players to have to self police and never queue unless they meet some player imposed requirement?
I don’t think Arete meant this (correct me if I’m wrong, Arete) but more to the point, where is the self imposed requirement? Players come into all brackets with empty slots, whites, or what equates to “whites” at 120 and expect to be competitive.
It’s a pretty small pool of players (in my exp) that actually police others expecting BIS items in randos. And let’s face it, those expectations are ridiculous. Equally ridiculous are the players that don’t even try and gear to any degree at all. It’s the flipside to the outrageous gear demand. Most players just want you to try a bit in gear and skill.
Yeah the ones that can stomach having to PVE for their gear.
Moving the goal post at it’s finest. You can be competitive in day’s
No effort= no reward
if you run a lot of PvE.
Your saying there are players out there who won’t put in effort?
Stomach = wants free gear and carries
You are taking a quote out of context to argue something unrelated to it, nice try.
My recommendation for everyone complaining about the lazy/bad players not being competitive in randoms, is to go do competitive PvP.
You didn’t set a specific goalpost you just vaguely ranted about lower geared people in BGs and how they shouldn’t queue.
If they come into brackets with empty slots or whites and greens I don’t think they expect to be competitive. They likely don’t know what to expect at all or know they can’t be competitive and just don’t care.
Even then it’s still a design flaw to put all these people together and just not care that some of them can’t contribute when facing people that they can’t do anything to.
Who cares. It’s the PvP way to gear. Stop complaining and play better. I have no problem with any of them in any of my bgs.
They sure expect something. Practically every time you’ve got a dude on a BG screaming about “you guys suck! Omg, it’s true what they say, Ally/Horde is terrible! You guys are the proof!” the board reveals he’s in the bottom for kills/damage. Armory him, you’ll see his gear is awful and missing.
That’s more likely. They want to be carried, and when they aren’t carried, the tantrums begin.
Just so long as they don’t go and get too much gear later on. Wouldn’t want people to actually progress their characters, now would we?
Doesn’t require much pve to be competitive at 120. M+ and raiding are not requirements.
M+ for gear, visions for the cloak/corruptions. You guys keep using this buzzword competitive. At what ilvl can one be considered competitive? Does one need corruptions to be competitive? Is competitive gameplay when they play a destro lock or fire mage undergeared?
Don’t even need M+ for gear. Competitive to me means you can contribute to a BG meaningfully, whether it’s damage or CC. Damage is not the only thing that wins a BG. You could die 5 times, and do low damage, but be more of a contributor to a win than someone who just mongos their DPS into the enemy DPS/tank and ignores the healer.

Weird, I think I overwrote a post instead of making a new one, lol.
It’s not unrelated. It really doesn’t require much pve. Ran with someone on his RShaman who hit 430s ilvl gear in a few days… he was 2nd in heals, beating a really well geared healer as well. Our team lost, but not due to gear. Was a Temple and the typical group not picking up orbs or sticking together.
If your team is losing every fight due to being comprised of undergeared people they will lose all motivation to even attempt a win anymore. With how blatant the power gap is I don’t even bother doing BGs on my 120s, since most of them are only around 430ilvl. I do not have the cloak, nor do I intend to ever get it.
From a casual PvP standpoint this expansion is straight trash.
Shadowlands will probably be a mess for PvP as well. Some of the covenant abilities appear broken right out of the box.
This is not new to this expansion. BGs like that will happen when gear matters as you don’t run into the same people as much. The person you ran into today who gears up in 3 weeks, you likely won’t see again anyway (unless epics BGs, they are a smaller niche of people) and will be replaced by newcomer/alt #10000000000
It may not be new but the power gap has reached stupid levels. Add in the lack of balance on corruption effects and you get a steaming pile of excrement, otherwise known as BfA.
