Since the inception of xp bonus been seeing a lot of these types come in with greens not even rings and headpiece shoulders and expect to win a battleground off the backs of players who actually made an effort to gear up
And to make matters even more comical , they then head to the forums to complian about how unfair these fully geared players are and that blizzard should come in to save them
Is this a player issue, game design issue or is this just lazy people ?
An issue with the playerbase. The same issue exists at max level - just browse through this forum and you’ll see dozens of threads begging for handouts or templates because people can’t be bothered to gear themselves.
I would say a combination of player issue + lazy players. It’s legit sooooo easy to get welfare/starter gear. Anyone who is a fresh 120 who doesn’t do the (very) minimal work to at least get over 200k health just isn’t trying.
You can literally hit 120 and be 390-400 item level in the same night, it’s not hard at all.
Player, mostly. I only give actual, legitimate NEW people a pass. You know, the ones who have never player WoW before, ever. First character, they don’t know any better.
If it’s an alt from a person who’s played awhile, they level up a worgen where all the quests give whites, and you join a BG at 10 or 20, you just lazy.
Wait ignore me, I thought you were talking about 120. I’ll probably level another character sooner or later and see what’s going on.
I’m sure a lot of people treat PvP as free experience since they’re essentially getting the benefits of the returning/defending champion trinkets for free.
I’m sure a lot of people don’t even bother to try because many of their matches are decided entirely by geared players.
The worgen area is atrocious. Snarlsbarkley (my drood) came out in trash. The area really needs a rework. You need to quest other areas (once you get a lock to summon you out of the worgen lagtastic hellhole) to get gear.
I gave my take in another thread and spent entirely too long defending my opinion but it’s a player issue and just lazy people which is a player issue.
Ultimately it depends on what bracket we are talking about. Anything below 120 = player issue. 120 is full on game design issue, screw jumping through all those hoops.
I have a really weird quirk - I won’t even queue if I’m not geared up, potted up, fooded up, etc, and ready to roll to the best of my ability. I get guilt pangs, if I’m not what I consider up to snuff, about letting my team down. It makes my play sucky on a mental/emotional level and I just can’t do it.
I stopped all the treadmilling and stopped queuing 120 because of it. Again, if I’m not up to snuff…see above.
100% game design issue whether you’re talking about max level or low level PvP.
You can’t let anyone queue for PvP and then expect only people with X level of gear to do so and get mad at the other people. It’s not the player’s fault that Blizzard places people of vastly different gear related power levels into the same games.
Why should those other players not be allowed to even queue or play until they get past a certain gear threshold?
edit: though if you are talking about low level PvP I find class balance to be a bigger factor in low level PvP than if you enchanted your heirlooms or have an empty ring socket or not.
Say a new 120 has sub 400 ilvl gear. Assuming they have nobody to carry them in M+/raids they could still get to 420 in a day or two pretty easily, but they’re still vastly outgunned by the 460+ people and are not capable of catching up in a short amount of time.
Do you actually think it’s reasonable that they shouldn’t queue for a battleground until they’re fully caught up, which could take months?
