Exactly, I’m almost to 3k attempts, my friend got it at 2.4k attempts, and I am super happy for her, and know it’ll eventually drop for me. I’m guessing the people wanting it to be easier aren’t doing 50+ toons a day, maximizing their chances.
Good for them, every single time I kill the boss, I’m rolling a 3,333 sided dice, hoping for it to land on one. I understand how statistics work. As I said, I’m close to 3k attempts, my friend got it at 2.4k, am I upset she got it? NOPE, super happy for her, and I’ll be just as happy when it drops for me.
One of the biggest “feels bad man” parts is exactly that Humanbeak, over 3700 kills in now and watching a new player (baby murloc head player) get it in their first year; kind a gut punch.
I get what Zrecia is saying too, stoked for those people getting so lucky but there is that one darker part of the psyche that feels like they didn’t “earn” it, as if that’s even a real thing.
Ok, so why did you reply to me with something that had nothing to do with the context of my message? O_o Or am I misunderstanding you?
I don’t care who gets what mount. I have the Brewfest Ram and I want it to come back. I do take exception with people who get a mount and then immediately turn into a “I GOT IT YOU CAN’T HAVE IT” elitist. Otherwise I don’t care.
I’m just learning from this threads, that you shouldn’t discuss with players that got it and want others to suffer the same or players that like masochism mechanics that could provide a chance to never see the drop on their lifes for a Game which should be fun and engaging.
if i got the mount this year, i’ll advocate for changes if required, same for MoP WB and other mounts because i would prefer a game with better current gameplay like BGs, M+, Raids…etc and not this Sloot Machines / Time Sinks.
I don’t think there should be any fomo. Even the old gladiator mounts from PvP should return.
People want to collect things and that’s what this game has slowly become
I always ignore the people who think limited-time items are a good thing.
Short term they might bring in money long-term they bring in resentment.
I don’t know… call me crazy but I’m for more people having stuff than those semi-pathetically needing their ego stroked. I know that came across as harsh, but I am being honest
I really don’t get this mindset when it comes to the love rocket
I’ve used the in-game suggestion tool every year since its been available and many of the years I also posted on threads like this. I’ve suggested 2 ideas which seem incredibly easy and a 2nd part of the 2nd idea which might be harder to implement but apply to more “rare” things in the game beyond the love rocket.
- Remove this from the instances per hour flag on this event, this is a pretty large complaint among those who run the army of alts. You can pretty easily hit 13-15 runs an hour if most of your characters are tank/heal queues. This would remove one chunk of furstration
2a) Grant a currency (retroactive if possible) granting you one coin per day (not a love token) per kill. Make the cost ridiculous, it doesn’t matter really as most of us who are determined have run this a ridiculous amount already. Mathematically… 15 kills per year say make the mount cost 150 or even 200 of this “broken heart” currency, this means the loyal player who runs this every day for over a decade can eventually step up and buy the mount. The luck can cover those who get it early with a guarantee for those who put in the time that if you have forever bad luck, eventually you can get it.
2b) Implement an ACTUAL bad luck system where the longer you don’t get something, the higher the drop rate becomes, even if it’s like .1% per kill and just build that into everything. I could see that this method could be a nightmare of coding and data storage though.
I like the idea of a currency - even if it takes a few years to obtain enough - for low drop rate mounts, but I would be happy if we got something like you only get once chance per day per account but the base drop rate is multiplied by the number of eligible characters on your account.
But my main request is please consider the Timereaver in your discussions. It’s a mount I want but the drop rate is so much lower than even heroic dungeon boss mounts that I gave up Timewalking years ago. If I could just buy the mount for 50k Timewarped Badges I’d have been doing Timewalking since the day it was added.
I was lucky and got the Timereaver after a few hundred attempts. I’d be alright with adding a currency.
I spent years farming the Horseman’s Mount too and didn’t feel any sense of accomplishment once it finally dropped. Just a sense of relief that it dropped early in the event so I didn’t have to farm it anymore.
Boss kills are already tracked under the Statistics tab. I don’t see why that number can’t easily be used in the drop rate calculation.
I wouldn’t say the event mount drop rate was unfair, but the events except for getting this achivement:
Without the desire to get a mount, the events are nothing after the Cataclysm, and even worse when they censored a lot of things.
That is why he thinks well of obtaining this benefit to the community by forgetting one more system within his vast game.
But at the same time, since it’s all crystals, I’ll just say.
I was responding directly to that statement of yours and in-turn Zreicia’s replies back to it. Perhaps I misread the tone of that comment but I was agreeing that your “spoiler alert” comment indeed does happen and simply giving an example of why the “short-circuit” can feel bad. That’s all.
Thank you. Seriously.
It’s crazy how many alts I’ve ran this one for over a decade and not a thing. It stinks! <3
You should honestly hotfix this ASAP.
If the drop value is sub 1%, it should go to at least 2%.
If anything, 5 to 10% is possibly best.
In truth, WoW’s reliance on RNG as a set and honestly overused gear filter is one of the many reasons players are not retained.
I personally think that the story is the worst. Both in that it is not shown to new players in a way to gain and then hold their interest, as well as, even older players have lost interest in it due to the forced retcons to shove Zovaal on us all, while also adding utterly unclear NPC choices that mostly fall flat because the Dev’s chose to literally STUPIFY the “Good Guys.”
This is great news! I’ve always wondered if Blizz locks a random mount from ever dropping on each account, and this one happened to be mine (jk of course).
Anyways, I’ve always thought the Holiday Events would make much better Scenario instances (like the Isle Expeditions or the Pandarian Scenarios) than the current 5 man one boss dungeons. This is mostly because of the que times I’ll admit, but I also think the spirit of the fight would be better experienced with three people of various specs instead of always having a tank and healer (although most people just que as all specs if they have the option anyways, so really it’s essentially just giving all classes equal que times).
This doesn’t exactly fix the problem at hand (that being the mount of course, and it’s lacking of being in my/our bags!) but I think it would be a good change and I’m hoping it wouldn’t be that difficult of one either, but I know nothing about that part of it lol.
I’ve got 100’s and 100’s of kills over the years with no rocket, no horseman, no invincible or mimrons head to show for it.
I know some thing things aren’t supposed to be easy to get, but awful RNG on 10 year old content stopped being fun a long time ago.
Change it, make content fun and rewarding. Not a grueling RNG grind. Maybe people will come back.
