The Love Rocket Mount NEVER Drops

If the rarity is the only thing that makes it cool then you are part of the problem. Honestly you and others with that attitude can take a hike.

Holidays should be fun and everyone that participates in the event should get the cute goodies. Everyone paying to play and participating in the event should receive the items if they go out of their way to get them.

Oh please Karen… get help.

Really feels like this mount is harder to get then any other…

Ive had the HH mount for years now ive had it drop twice for me I have the brewfest mounts too.

This one though…its giving me a brain tumor from the frustration after so many years…i just want my pink rocket for my boomy form to ride around on. I’ll be switching between it and my giant rooster mount only 2 I need other then my tmog yak.

Check wowhead post, you’ll find why this is harder.

Lol its not stealing anything. You still got it. Making the frustratingly bad droprate go away to make so others dont waste more the 16 years on this stupid thing would be welcomed.

Hell I bought so many card packs and got the rooster mount I’d welcome blizz making it obtainable in game for others.

You’re being extremely dramatic and just because you finally got it after 14 years you turn into an elitist on a mount you JUST finally got.

Maybe others would like to be as happy as you in getting it to drop?

My god…

Yeah, that’s along the lines of sorry you paid $1000 dollars for that item yesterday, it’s $10 now today. If the time frame between the two is very short, you’re going to have some very upset people. Probably why Blizzard even said it’ll be another year at minimum.

You are forgetting that most players have paid that $1000 with no item to show for it…

Someone with that crap attitude can be upset, that’s their problem.

It’s basically like anything thats new one year and old the next.

This however cost no money only time. Unreasonably large amounts of time. On a limited event.

Not saying 100% win but anything other then what it has been since introduced does need to be done and would most likely be very welcomed.

(Finally I made a US account as an EU player to post in this forum :slightly_smiling_face:)

To be honest, if something rare does exist in game for an extended amount of time, at some point it is no longer rare, since most players who seriously farmed it would own it by now (e.g. since SL I have seen the Sha mount, supposed to be the rarest mount, every other day).
The only dedicated players who do not own it are players who still have really bad luck after hundreds/thousands of attempts (which ironically is rare in itself at some point), despite being the ones who put most time and effort into it.

Also, due to personal loot, the meaning of rare has changed a lot. Before that, if something rare dropped for a whole group, everyone was lucky, while the player who rolled it was special for a moment in that group.
With personal loot, owning something rare does not affect other players, it is an individual achievement.
That’s why I think, there is no big issue in reintroducing time-limited collectibles that were available in newer expansions after Cataclysm, such as the Mage Tower weapon appearances.

There are imo only two kinds of players that would be affected by e.g. a change of drop-rate: Those who feel nostalgic about group efforts in classic expansions and those who have an unhealthy need of validation (which should not be encouraged).

Regarding rareness in general I have the following suggestions:

  • Make the ‘Heartbreaker X-45’ and all other holiday rare drops only available until 2025, in 2026 (and every 5 years after) introduce new rare drops for every event and add the old ones to the vendor. The achievement associated with the mounts would then become feats of strength.
  • Make any non-current expansion rare collectible a guaranteed drop after a set amount of attempts per account, that are reasonably high. The formula could be like: X*(1/r), for r = drop-rate (e.g for 1% it would be 5*(1/0.01) = 500 tries). As additional QoL change, you could remove mounts from the MoP WorldBoss bonus roll and instead double the drop-rate on the boss kill.
  • Add a raid boss skip into the ‘Siege of Orgrimmar’ raid. If every legacy raid would allow to skip to any boss, players would not feel the need to rush through it. It would be a great opportunity to redesign legacy raids/dungeons in mechanically engaging ways for solo players or scaled for any group-size (with NPCs that offer extra buttons to compensate lack of classes/roles), e.g. to have a conclusion for leveling storylines or to make farming old mythic loot more fun.
  • Finally, earning some rare loot should not be the only incentive to play old or new content in WoW. If content is engaging (mechanically or story-wise), challenging (timing, multitasking) or a group effort, the in-game reward is only secondary. Leveling would massively improve if there would be group scaling and a heroic mode (with it’s own rules: quest-objective progress would count separate from normal mode, mobs tagged by heroic players/groups would not be attackable by other players, …). With prestige-levels (some carrot on a stick still needs to tempt players into the content) it would even work as a great fun evergreen almost-endless endgame-activity.

Yup. “I got it neener neener neener you can’t have it!” is the kind of toxicity mentality that runs rampant on GD. Or shall I say, runs rampant with a vocal minority on GD who try to make themselves known in every single thread that takes a shot at FOMO or bad design like these sorts of drop rates.

What about 3500+ kills on Galleon?

I have never once been upset that another player has the same mount as me. Let’s make people feel happy.

I guess it’s a matter of perspective and what mount we’re talking about.

I’ve had the spectral tigers (yes both) since the day the TCG card came out (I bought the card for $50 from a local trading card shop as they didn’t know what it’s value was, this was back when I had to choose which character I put the two mounts on, since they went into my bags). I don’t get upset when I see others on it.

But for other mounts such as the Big Love Rocket, a mount where each year I have farmed it on all my alts, adding more and more alts each year, and done this for so many years. I realize that for others who have done the same and got it, having all those years of work short circuited for new players would sting.

I can’t explain why the two scenarios are different (they’re technically not), but I feel very different about them.

And if we’re going to do this, we need to revisit a bunch of others as well, and let’s not forget about items that were removed from the game. If we’re going down the slippery slope, let’s do it!

Yes.

If anything someone who ran 14-100 alts, for 14 years to get a mount, should be glad that they change it for other people. It is unreasonable.

That is also nuts. At least it is more than just a few weeks a year, though.

Exactly. You purchased a mount, just like players may be able to purchase in the future, and thus, you don’t feel upset. Players should have mount opportunities for a game that already costs a monthly sub.

I farmed Invincible for 6 years on 7 alts, and I think it was a ridiculous notion. I recognize how much of my time I spent doing that that I could have been doing other things, both inside and outside of the game. The fact that the game has developed a system where players pour years into a mount that may never drop for them is both disheartening and, in the long run, it will be an unsuccessful game strategy.

I recognize the sting, but I also think it is important to recognize that just because something has been one way doesn’t mean that way is the best way. Like, I paid 100k for my M.A.Ed., but I still think college should be free. Does that kinda suck? Yeah. But it’s the way I think it should be. Same thing if I got shot in the foot. Should everyone else be shot in the foot? Nah. Sucks that I was, but we could prevent other people from that.

I don’t know if I’m making sense.

Your feelings should be heard and respected, similarly to the feelings of people who’ve done 1000 runs and not seen a thing.

Agree! Bring it all back. Let people have goals and adventure towards them. I don’t want to live in an exclusive world.

It actually dropped for me, for people that want to spend the time and effort to grind and eventually show off their work … it’s an amazing feeling. By modifying how you get this mount, you make the people who actually made effort for it look like a fool, I think it should stay the way it is.

Spoiler alert: Your work was already “short-circuited” by the ones who got lucky and didn’t need to farm the mount.
