Seriously, put more resources toward a smooth experience. We’re not even in primetime and townlong steppes and dreadwastes are unplayable due to lag. Fix this now.

Not the biggest blizz defender + not super knowledgeable about IT, but this is a common experience that hasn’t changed in 20+ years lol - every big patch/expansion release ever.
Imagine hundreds of thousands of players all trying to log on to a limited amount of servers. There’s only so much they can do. Just looking right now, basically every single server is full/locked. They could add more servers, but that would create longevity issues down the road as historically in Classic most servers die out pretty fast and players flock to 1-2 mega servers. Phasing/layering helps but only so much.
The lag kinda sucks for sure but it will smooth out over the next week as the initial hype wave fades. Like every other big release ever. I mean you either gotta deal with it, play something else, or touch grass. I didn’t play the first two days because of work but right now it’s definitely playable.

Is this proof enough? Because Whitemane still has no lag in Townlong.
On the matter of lag in Townlong, I’m heading out that way to do my Shado-Pan dailies after checking a few rares, so I’ll report back shortly on that as far as BSB is concerned
Yeah Townlong is smooth as butter on BSB, so it’s most likely a server/population problem

20 years ago, this was true.
These days, all the servers are virtualized; they aren’t locked to specific hardware. They can spin up more hardware onto a particular server anytime they want, and shut it down when it’s not needed.
Doing this is, of course, more expensive and takes dev time and effort, and resources for MoP classic are pretty low. As long as it’s playable, they probably aren’t going to do anything about it, since this is a problem that will solve itself if they ignore it for a few days.
The Deepholm lag/framerate issues lasted for weeks/over a month.

Also makes sense because iirc retail launches have been really smooth for quite a while. I assume because there’s just a lot more resources devoted to it.
Either way, it sucks right now but will normalize in a few days hopefully.
I do remember that. Probably a bug/flaw with Deepholm being instanced from the outside world.
I get it. I play retail as well. They let issues go on for months at a time without fixing them. Not defending it at all.
But at the end of the day lag on an expansion launch is to be expected and you can either deal with it or do something else.
I’m leveling on Bene ally rn and not having any problems besides slight input lag.
Can you explain why it’s only Jade Forest and Townlong and the other zones are perfectly fine even with tons of people in them?

No, I’m not a developer or work for Blizzard. I’m just making educated assumptions based on what I’m seeing and history.
Also like I said I’m leveling on Bene ally right now in Jade Forest and playing just fine during prime time.
The problem is the huge warzones full of AI fighting each other, which only those 2 zones have.
It’s funny watching you guys try to explain things though as if you know.
Ok well keep crying about lag even though it’s not even bad and I’ll keep playing the game lol.
