The ladder is absolutely dead, and it's Saturday night. Bizzard, DO SOMETHING TO REVITALIZE PVP PARTICIPATION!

I am paying with a couple of friends, standard 3s. We’re around 1700 (two of us) and one is 1200 on an alt.

in 20 games, we faced multi rank1, multi glads, legends etc. in 18 (EIGHTEEN) of them. How in the world there’s literally NO ONE NEW playing this game? I’m at my third season, usually playing around 1850/1900. Seems like there’s absolutely no new blood, no “average” players anymore, nothing.

Also why in the world, if we’re 1750, 1700 and 1200 we get in lobbies with 2300 players???

I am considering abandoning pvp, there’s no learning curve, no population, nobody other than streamers on their gazilion alt climbing ladder, absolutely HOSTILE for anyone new or who’s learning.

DF is supposed to be the bounce back after shadowland. Well Blizzard is destroying PVP, and they don’t care. MMR in SS is even more ridiculous. And generally so deflated it’s impossible to climb significantly in the first 8-10 weeks.

PLEASE DO SOMETHING, this is not fun, as every time I enter an arena I just tune in the twitch channel of the 2.000.000 hours rogue (yes, played pika multiple times at 1800), just to see how they make fun of us mediocre, not worth, “get out of here”, players.

You’re killing one of your funniest game modes, and you don’t care.

Also just do PVE at this point. Unironically you’re getting the same metrics of gameplay by doing M+ that you’ll get from playing arenas because you’re just doing a Pve rotation anyways.

Game’s almost 20 years old.
PvE generates views/money, PvP largely ignored.
Level to 70, get gear, learn your spec and most other specs inside and out.
Download multiple 3rd party add-ons.
Design the game around a mode that requires a 2:1 ratio of DPS to Healers when the player base is miles away from being close to this, and will never BE close.
A plethora of other games out there with better matchmaking, learning curves, and accessibility.

Why are droves of new players not joining and sticking with this game?

Yea dude it’s a bad time to play rn forsure. All you fight are multi glads at 1800+. They should really adjust rewards or mmr based on player participation.

percent award never had these issues. its some arbritary number that blizzard decided was duelist and gladiator and came up with what whatever percentage they thought r1 on all bgs accounted for. just win 50 matches is the laziest and most insulting way. like hey i guess if they can win 50 matches over, they are glad. ppl should be more respecting those that get it when its hard af to get. but it shouldn’t take away from anyones own. like could imagine having to fight the frost god over and over to get it like the sub god did.

The rewards are out of reach for many players and this has turned off too many people from even attempting to pvp. Many people struggled to reach 1800, couldn’t and simply gave up or shelved their toons to try again later in the season when ratings get inflated and this is a core problem with the current state of rated pvp.

Gladiator mount awards need to be expanded to solo shuffle, 2v2 and rbg for starters to increase player participation in other brackets.

The reward ranks for elite gear and weapons need to become significantly more obtainable to players. The current required ratings are way too difficult for many players to hope to achieve and this is turning off more and more people from even trying.

It would be a much better design to go with a progression system similar to what we have for the saddle mount in rated pvp, have players do 1 full bar for elite gear, a 2nd for the enchant transmog, a 3rd for elite weapons/tabard and a 4th bar for the gladiator mount. If you play the game enough you should be awarded accordingly. This would strongly incentivize players to play more and make awards obtainable to everyone who puts in enough time and effort.

Rating and mmr soft/hard caps need to be removed. Resetting these after each season results in too many new players getting thrown into multiple lobbies with high rated players that are way out of their league and that discourages people from requeueing.

Nah, it’s pretty welcoming in regards to everything except actually playing. 1600 players won’t queue with each other because they got duelist in shuffle or shadowlands and feel entitled to better partners. :dracthyr_yay_animated:

nope, the forums are notorious for being toxic towards new players and inexperienced players. it’s only the same people PVPing each season and that is slowly dwindling.

these arent true new players… if they played in shadowlands or are getting duelist in shuffle they are not new.

nope, not true at all. condescension, rating shaming, and passive aggressiveness towards anyone is plentiful in the PVP community. look at this very thread:

“reasonable attitude” is a cop out to excuse treating other players badly. it essentially means “act exactly as i want you to or else”. the standards for a “reasonable attitude” are impossible to meet for these forums.

you can choose to dismiss this because your friends partake in the behavior, but it is absolutely why wow pvp does not attract new players and why it never will. :woman_shrugging:
