The lack of a tank spec for evoker is really showing why this game is cutting corners

No it hasn’t.

literally every hero class thus far has had a tank spec…they probably wanted to switch it up a bit lol

We don’t need tank specs. Most of the folks playing WoW have been around for a long time and have tank mains, tank alts, fish tanks, gas tanks, military tanks, Tank Abbott, Frank the Tank…the list goes on.

What we really need is for people to not put 110% of the pressure on a tank during a dungeon or raid. You join a dungeon group and BAM! The tank knows everything about everything. Well…it doesn’t work that way, communication is key…in WoW and in real life.

I don’t mind tanking…what I really don’t like is every other alt I’m playing with running through a dungeon and tagging / pulling everything. I guess go solo it yourself…

Depends on who you ask, it’s 1 class that is impossible for blizzard to balance, they said it themselves at least a dozen times over the years. Which is why they are either overtuned or under. There’s no way to beat a warrior/priest hybrid. It IS the ultimate class.

That happens to every spec, not just paladins.

yeah but every spec blizzard doesn’t come out and go ‘we did that on purpose’. They have purposely admitted to keeping both paladins and shamans weak in the past due to balancing issues.

How does that make it a hero class though?

It is if the community will piss themselves non-stop over it. Point was more specs isn’t really needed, ESPECIALLY for Evoker. If anything, give Shamans their tank spec.

How doesn’t it? What makes a hero class by definition?

Hero class starts at a higher level. Theres your definition.

Well the 3 hero classes we have at the moment all started at higher levels, where paladins start at level 1 since vanilla. Thats why monks aren’t considered a hero class.

I agree to that whole heartedly, i miss the paladin and shaman matchups. They use to actually compete for best class… Ever since they removed tank from shaman, they just been crapped on it feels like.

LMAO - you are basing your claim off of the starting level? Seriously? sorry GG everyone we got a winner.

Sorry paladins came out before they broke level 60… That doesn’t make them NOT a hero class.

Essentially a hero class is any class that breaks or combos the 4 base class: by definition thief, warrior, mage, priest.

Wowpedia lists : "Customization options such as resources, class mounts, higher starting level (in van they didn’t boost people because there wasn’t much there anyway - more then half the zones weren’t even finished this was well known by pretty much anyone who played back then). other flavor mechanics and recognition would be example lets say the paladin only tabard x2 now?

Pallies and locks were the only classes with their own ‘class mount’ outside of their race. They qualify by that alone given the fact they were one of the early classes created in wow…

You can’t compare early technology to the technology of today, what they can do in wow now they couldn’t back then, van was very basic. Even the classic servers are dressed up beyond what classic was, including 10-20x the leveling speeds. As they kept a LOT of the quality of life experience. Including more then 1 graveyard per faction in each zone.

So again you can’t really compare van to today’s classes, LK was the first ‘official’ hero class because they started testing new things with new tech and a huge improvement in computer power which allowed them to do things they couldn’t back then.

By the time LK came out, tech had advanced so far that almost everyone had to get new computer’s just to play it, if you didn’t you couldn’t raid. If you managed to raid you couldn’t watch the fight because particles would freeze out.

If you haven’t figured out why when you type /who class the max you will ever see on that list is 50 should emphsize the limitations. It was easier to create a class that ran the same path as everyone else. Because of ‘power’ usage, not to mention the community was way smaller with only about 10 servers going into bc - which averaged no more then about 200 players online at a time.

So there’s a lot your dismissing not just definitions, but the fact the tech wasn’t there for that. By the time LK came out we jumped from what 2/4gb memory to 16. Hd’s were around 250 at max, adding extra meaningless story only ment more data that would restrict who could experience the game.

That’s literally what makes it a Hero Class. If you go into the game and pick a class, DH, DK and Evoker are stated as Hero classes. Are you trolling?

The cap is back to 60 and the 3 current hero classes still start at a higher level than paladins.

What he said. There is only 3 of them ie… Death Knight, Demon Hunter and now Evoker.

We’ve had three new Melee DPS/Tank classes since vanilla and only one of them can heal… and it uses beer… wtf even is that?

I’m overjoyed to finally have a caster dps/healer hero class.

I haven’t done much with the healing spec but DPS has been a blast so far.

I’m a hero thank you very much, and classy.

I would love to see any game create a tanking class that uses only spells and not melee. This new class could have been it but who knows, maybe down the road something could be added.

Sounds like an idea for a new cloth tank.
