The kelfin love/allied race discussion thread ✿

I think that dispels any likeliness of that theory before. Maybe they are an original ancestor of goblins or just adapted that way over time.

Do we know Goblins’ origins though?

Maybe we’d need Lore’s help here

Strictly on an official confirmed lore basis they come form hobart’s creations, but there is a strong case that they are naturally occuring. The reasons why for this theory is as follows:

  1. If hobart did actually create the gilgoblins they couldn’t have been created any more then around 18 years from when BFA was the present expansion. Thats a very short time for gilgoblins to learn to adapt and develop a control and expand at such a high rate all while the effects of hobart’s creations supposedly made them dumber. Now it is possible they could grow much faster and also die faster then land goblins. I see little reason why though.

  2. The gilgoblins when they meet them in nazjatar don’t even think of themselves as gilgoblins. Someone makes a quote saying"Gilblin. Whats a gilblin" and another makes a quote saying"Some land goblin says he created us and people actually believe him"? There was also a statement by Grizzek in Rustbolt saying that"It seems hobart hasn’t been honest of all his creations".

  3. The gilgoblins in nazjatar when we meet them don’t seem super intelligent, but they don’t seem super primitive and dumb either. And supposedly Hobarts actions made gilgoblins very dumb.

  4. Their apparent dumbness could have been due to madness of the void, mind control by the naga or simply due to slavery by the naga. In Nazjatar we see gilgoblins walking around with mind eaters attached to their heads and in Vashjir they are mostly enslaved by the naga. They could also just be misunderstood as being blind savages so to speak.

Put all this together and there is a strong case for them being naturally occurring. However it is also possible that hobart did create some of them, but not all of them. If he did create them, maybe it was only the ones in vashjir?

I was going to type up a thing about what I know of it but Gnomest covered it all already. lol

Its extremely likely that Hobart is not the creator of the Gilgoblins at large though he may have done something to some of them.

We have no solid/reliable information to suggest whether the Gilgoblins came before Goblins or after.

It would have been nice to see a serious indicator of their origins and if they expanded on them more, but I thankfully at least they fleshed them out so well in nazjatar.

I feel we need more information on the creation of gil goblins, heck we could even create a theory that maybe the elemental lords could had done something too, similar to how the dark irons changed alittle due to Rag.

I am working on a custom gilblin dance by the way. I will be posting it sometime soon. This one will be unique from the one land goblins use.

Since we have a new patch, I thought I’d report on the status of the Unshackled in Durotar, in case something has changed, for Kelfin fans.

Nothing new with the Unshackled that I saw. They’re just standing there, chilling out, just waiting for that official invitation to the Horde. So close, yet so far away…

Considering I’ve saved the world (of Warcraft!) many times, I think the Horde Council owes me quite a few favors after we’re done in Shadowlands. Maybe I’ll try to get them to consider offering the Unshackled official Horde membership…though I suspect they’ll forget I exist until the next crisis to the world (of Warcraft!). Go figure.

Will keep an eye out for anything else of interest. :japanese_goblin::trident:

I wouldn’t expect anything till maybe next expansion, but its nice to know they are still there. If they disppeared I think my hope would be dashed.

Behold! Kelfin dancin!

Love the bioluminescence.

Although its not a full dance, I think this works very well as a good stage 1 gilblin dance emote cause of the wavelike movements.

I can imagine the male doing that one Maori dance the guy who played aquaman did that went viral a bit back.

I also like the implication of Kelfin having a dance like that one.

(also forgive me for ignorance of such things in general)

Personally not a fan of gil gobs but I appreciate the effort in your presentation. Who knows maybe someday

Hopefully. Many of these I am not certain would happen, but some of the basic things like the tatoos, glow in the tatoo elements, tentacle hair would be nice.

Hopefully 10.0.

Can’t imagine we’d see em sooner, seems blizzard isn’t interested in such things in SLs.
