I don’t expect any allied races till at least 10.0.
They are absolutely beautiful, you are so talented with your art and animations @Gnomest! I am especially fond of the mermaid tails and the phosphorecent light under the water.
Thank you! Had a lot of fun making these. More to come in time.
They announce Kelfin yet?
No?
Back to sleep then.
We still have a long wait til SL is over… sighs.
Most allied race threads are going to be kind of inactive for now because there is no sign of allied races for a while. But given that allied races are something that blizzard doesn’t consider till much later now of all times is actually one of the best time for allied race suggestions. Even better than in bfa.
Basically yeah. And to see how much support said race has.
Hey, they’re adding some more customizations!
Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll work on more AR’s later.
Hope the Kelfin are on the list!
Seems like now more than ever is a good time to push for more customization and ARs with the void elf customization news out. They said there wasn’t going to be anymore customizations this expansion yet here we are.
Pretty much, I am going to start to push for half elves for the same reason. I hope gilgoblins gets noticed as a request by the devs.
I know there is less hope for allied races in general at this time because they are less relevant at the moment, but we’ve been informed blizzard considers allied races for later expansions. This is why the best time to make suggestions for allied races is when there is no much going on allied race wise.
Yup. I am hoping for more races, both core and ar in the next expansion when we return to azeroth, with a potential time skip.
Just imagine what would be possible with a time skip too, like botanist and sabers populating azeroth, or maybe quillboar would get exposed to say kajamite or something and become something new, or even furbolgs!
It’s nice we get to agree on some things eventually.
Here’s hoping that Kelfin are our next Allied Race. <3
Just a little tap in hopes blizzard is watching.
Kelfin would be wonderful for the Horde!
We’ve recently reached 1000 comments! Thats about at the same count the old gilblin thread was.
What would kelfin racials be?
I imagine underwater breathing, faster swimming…
I would imagine those, but I also think it would be great to get a summon seagiant racial maybe made to last a brief time. Could easily be very op though.
I have been thinking about how the recruitment quest line would play out for the kelfin as an allied race. I came up with the story below, trying to highlight the kelfin’s current and potential relationships with various Horde factions and the benefit that they would bring to the Horde by joining. It also provides an origin for the kelfin to help flesh out their history. The one big thing it might be missing is interaction with Bilgewater or other land goblins like Hobart Grapplehammer. Perhaps this could be achieved through banter with Journeyman Goldmine of the Earthen Ring.
I’m curious what ideas other people have for a recruitment quest line!
Kelfin Recruitment Scenario
Loss of a Loa
Neri Sharpfin, Poen Gillbrack, and Vim Brineheart have just received some distressing news from their fellow Unshackled. A rogue naga sea witch and her small army of followers have kidnapped the shark loa Gral and imprisoned him in a pocket of the Abyssal Maw. There, they are planning to drain his life essence to fuel their own power and take revenge against him for opposing Queen Azshara. If they succeed, Gral’s spirit will not go to Ardenweald for rebirth, but the loa of the sea will be instead lost forever.
Petition to the Horde Council
The kelfin trio make their way from Blade Fist Bay to Grommash Hold to ask the Horde for assistance in freeing the captured loa. Warchief Thrall listens with concern. Queen Talanji, whose people also worship Gral, expresses support for helping the kelfin. Regent Lord Lorthemar and First Arcanist Thalyssra, who befriended the Unshackled in Nazjatar, vouch for them as steadfast allies and also express support. Thrall sends Muln Earthfury and a contingent of Earth Ring shamans to assist the kelfin with the rescue.
An Audience with the Tidehunter
Before taking the fight to the naga, the Earthen Ring calls in a favor from a recent ally. They travel with the Unshackled to the Maelstrom and summon Neptulon the Elemental Lord. Neri approaches Neptulon to ask for help in travelling to the Abyssal Maw where the naga are hiding out, but he regards her curiously.
Neptulon reveals that he was the one who had kidnapped goblins from the shore and transformed them into underwater creatures as fodder for Azshara’s wars. This was when he was still serving the Old Gods, which he now regrets. Neptulon remarks that he is impressed by the kelfin’s courage, perseverance, and selflessness, and how they have fought to liberate all of the enslaved races of the oceans.
Out of respect (grudging affection?) for his creations, Neptulon not only opens a portal into the Abyssal Maw for the kelfin and their allies, but he also sends his champion Duke Hydraxis to fight alongside them.
Red Tide
Once in the Abyssal Maw, the assembled forces fight against waves of naga defending the sea witch, who is in the middle of conducting the ritual to drain Gral. They advance on the sea witch’s stronghold, freeing all of the mind-shackled slaves who were captured while originally defending Gral.
The fight against the naga rages. When all seems lost, the kelfin finally succeed in reaching Gral and breaking his shackles. Once freed, the loa lets out a burst of hope and inspiration, empowering the Unshackled with the Blessing of Gral (this could be the name and origin of the kelfin’s primary combat racial). Gral joins the fray, and with the combined forces of the Unshackled, Earthen Ring, Duke Hydraxis, and Gral, they succeed in defeating the naga sea witch and her army once and for all.
New Newhome
The kelfin trio return to Orgrimmar to bring the good news and thank the Horde for their assistance. The Horde Council acknowledges the kelfin’s tenacity, resourcefulness, and commitment to never leaving anyone behind. Plus, they note how advantageous it might be to have an ally so closely tied to an Elemental Lord. They invite the Unshackled to join the Horde officially with Neri as their representative, and she accepts.
The Unshackled set up an underwater encampment in Bladefist Bay, which serves as their racial home base.
I am impressed by the amount of work you’ve put into this. Good job!
I would much prefer Kelfins over other proposed ARs.
Wow, like Silverbelle said, this is an incredible amount of work you guys are putting into this.
I’m loving the idea more and more.
Please a Gilgoblin AR, Blizz!
