Do not “bump” posts.

The act of posting simply to bump a thread is considered spamming. This also includes bumping very old threads for no reason (called “necro bumping” or “necroing”).

I was actually just discussing this with a colleague yesterday. We didn’t immediately agree on the right timeframe for a thread to close after its last post, but it seems like 60 or 90 days is more than enough time.

One… I didn’t post to “bump” a thread. I posted because I saw a topic I wanted to comment on.

Two… If Blizzard really feels that way, they should set up threads to auto-lock after the last post. It’s not rocket science to implement.
