Why do people play ranked anything? Weird take
I donât think itâs weird that people try to push themselves beyond where the tangible rewards stop.
But I do think itâs weird they get uppity about the balance of things in an infinitely scaling system after the point at which rewards stop.
Obviously itâs going to break down at some point, and people are going to stick closely to meta comps to try and compensate.
That said, the issue with 12s is just that the affix just flatout multiplies everything, AGAIN, thatâs already being multiplied by the key level and fort / tyrannical, both of which are already active. Itâs a pointless extra massive difficulty spike for no reason when they could just let the scaling take care of making sure people hit an eventual wall.
The fact that they even have an affix after 10 shows that Blizzard thinks things should still matter at that point, so Iâd advocate for either removing that entirely and letting things fall how they fall after 10, or switching the 12 affix to something less blatantly artificial in terms of adding difficulty.
Hell, if weâre pushing ârelevantâ M+ into 12s, make 12s drop Myth Track baseline. Itâs weird that theyâd create this pointless difficulty spike for no reward. (Though Iâd personally prefer they just drop back and get rid of Guile, let 10s be the effective cap of things mattering)
Should have stuck to S3, and even that had itâs annoyingly placed difficulty spikes.
I ask myself the same thing since it takes them 2.5 months to get geared, only to have to upgrade it in the next season⌠3 more times in every expansion. And then after ALL that hamster wheeling, it is replaced by Pre-patch gear before the next expac.
You play WOW for the experience.
Not for rewards.

i understand this part. my personal beef and why i didnt really play this season is that you have to wait til you get to that wall to enjoy the game without affixes. that, and just lazily lumping tyrann and fort together. id be completely ok with og challengerâs peril, og flat pct to dmg or whatever it is, but removal of tyrann completely. everything else is fine by me
I mean if it werenât the affix at 12s itâd just be âi keep getting 1 shot in a 13-14 blizz needs to fix this i cant progress players are quittingâ. Thereâs gonna be something stopping people somewhere. Might as well be 12s.
This is opting into the optional hardmode content that has no rewards aside from a title for top 0.1% and saying that itâs too difficult.
