We’ve all had it happen to us at one point. You are in the groove, plucking one quest after another. Suddenly you hit that RNG quest. You pray to Light that you’ll get lucky with your first kill and are only marginally disappointed when it didn’t drop. But here is the mistake. Before you know it you find yourself dozens of minutes to an hour later still waiting for that one infernal drop.
Which quest did it happen to you on? How long did you have to suffer in misery?
My current cream of the cake: Desolace - Quest: The Karnitol Shipwreck. I have been killed so many naga that I think I have personally set Azshara back 7 expansions. Edit: 1 hour and 25 minutes and I ak so glad that endless swimming is over with.

Darkshore. Crabs and sabers.

The mountain lion blood. I swear i killed over 100 starving mountain lions just to get 10 bloods. Atleast I have skinning.

All of the boars in Westfall have crippling liver problems. It’s a concern.

A Recipe for Death was particularly taxing. The one where you have to get six samples from one creature, six samples from another creature, and then an ultra rare tumor from a THIRD creature.
By the end of that single quest, two pieces of my gear were broken and the rest was yellow, and I was nearly out of bag space. And I only died ONCE that entire time.
Probably had to kill at least 100-150 mobs in total for that damn drop quest. Almost as bad as your average escort quest xP

Loch Modan spider ichor. I got 2 on my first 4 mobs… 28 spiders later I was still looking for the 3rd when I dinged and the quest turned green and all the spiders turned gray.
I’ve been pretty lucky this far! Although the shield drop from the mobs in SW Barrens was a tad long.
The damned carved idols from the Troggs in Loch Modan.
I was 14 when I ran that quest going up against 18s, 19s, and 20s with a full group.
It took us two hours just for everyone to complete the quest due to the drop rate.
Eh, I figure any time spent farming for an elusive quest item is time I don’t need to spend grinding later, so I’m pretty tolerant of the zevrah hoof sort of malarkey.
The grinding is still gonna happen though. It’s inevitable. Still gotta make another 90 gold somehow.
Lightforged Ingots. I must of killed atleast 50 murlocs…
The Druid Sleeper cave quest where you kill the Shamman for one bloody drop.

Yeah the Voodoo charm was painful for me too. Took me 45~ min to get it. It was previously the record keeper for biggest staller until Desolace.

It seems not all spider legs are gooey.
I felt this in my soul. No one wanted to group so I literally had to run laps to get a tag on a mob about once per lap.
Runner up would be the shackles from Pyrewood Village.
Right, so I just finished Mok’thardin’s Enchantment: Raptor Edition. But because I’m a dumbass, I did it at level 37, when all the Jungle Stalkers were 3-4 levels above me.
This wasn’t too bad, I could handle the level 40 raptors easily enough. And I had the Nesingwary Raptor Mastery quest to do at the same exact time!
Got about 3 Jungle Stalker Feathers from the first 10 raptors I had to kill for the quest. And then I started killing, and killing, and killing. Eventually, after about 40 raptor kills and 45 minutes of farming, I had 9 feathers.
And then the last Jungle Stalker Feather took another 70 raptors and another FULL HOUR TO DROP.
Trying to be efficient and in the end actually stepping into a bear trap. Don’t worry, you aren’t the only one that has done something like that. I am being a bit too stubborn on trying to do most of this run from memory and squandering time flying to zones that can’t even offer me quests. (Multiple times now…)

Just about every gather quest so far. I can’t pick just one.
