Classic WoW has never felt like a permanent place I can have a character and just play an MMO. there’s seasons, expansions, clones etc. If you wait a year, the server you played on will be dead and everyone will be on the new servers. It’s just whatever new thing blizzard announces per year will come out.
This is an interesting one. I don’t like the way that they did things (I was never a fan of clones at all, and though you should be able to “upgrade” to the newer expansion whenever you want), but to be fair, people had like 2 years…
Asking both for permanent and for fresh at the same time is somewhat ironic. If you want something permanent, it exists, now.
Of course, I understand that you may have taken a two or three year break on a 2 year game, and have come back to not having your characters in Classic Era during a time when people are playing again, and you feel you’re missing out.
Yeah, that sucks. Yeah, a ton of servers dying out and characters getting displaced, moved to Sulfuras (or wherever) and losing names, and even being advanced into TBC Classic and then Wrath Classic sucks for those who don’t want that. And yes, these forums are a great place to voice your opinions and complains.
Good luck to you, and I hope you find some enjoyable adventures.
I legitimately have no idea what you’re referring to as permanent classic. Era wasn’t fresh… you were able to pay for a clone from the 2019 classic servers but most people got deleted off of there and got transferred to tbc. also, all of the raids are already out on there. My characters got deleted off of classic servers and moved to tbc.
wotlk is not really classic it’s just the rerelease of an expansion pack so that’s also not permanent fresh classic.
It sure was! Most of us played it when it launched in Aug 2019… it was definitely fresh!
I kind of doubt that most people took a 2 year break, but I don’t really have any data to reference, so who knows?
Yeah, pretty much like how it happened the first time. I moved all my Classic toons to TBC, and paid to clone one when they went on sale for $5.00, after thinking about it for a few months…
WotLK Classic is classic; it’s literally in the name!
This is an interesting statement that leads me to believe that you really don’t understand what I’ve stated above.
WoW Classic started as fresh, permanent servers. There are many people who either paid to clone or just kept their toons there. Some may have never played any of the newer classic expansions.
The OP seems to be both stating that fresh temporary servers, like SoM where characters transfer to Classic Era servers after are bad, and that Fresh permanent is good. I can understand wanting to play fresh (I enjoyed the fresh experience when wrath classic launched, personally), but why does it have to be new fresh permanent servers?
If you want permanent servers, just play on Classic Era. If you took a 2 or 3 year break after playing WoW Classic for 1 or 2 years (or less) and missed the opportunity to clone, then yeah that sucks, if it was something you would have wanted to do. But, it’s not that big of a deal; it’s a game. A big part of the fun of Classic Era is leveling anyway.
Era needs a phase 7 with gold sinks. Thats the real issue. Servers half a decade old (yea, it feels like yesterday, but Classic is gearing up to launch cata soon!)
You’ve got it backwards. Catering to RMT by incentivising it even further will only exacerbate it. The players on those realms trashed their own economies. Now they can lie in the bed they’ve made for all of Classic.
Since I’ve been active again I have come to realize that the better option is probably a SoM that optionally rolls into TBC followed by WotLK with each major phase being a year long. Maybe at each major phase you could clone your character to one of these forever “era” realms.
I’m glad we have the “era” realms as an option, but they are going to decline due to player behavior over time no matter what Blizzard does. The main concerns being that there is way too much gold in the game which snowballs into a higher demand for gold buying, bots, boosting, shady GKDP runs etc.
Add up the cost of BOE items a fresh 60 Warrior wants to get into some good raids, it is easily 20,000 gold or more which should be a crushing amount of gold to farm in the game. This leads to the obvious thing I don’t need to explain
Nonsense. You are complaining about a realm’s culture, but only willing to look at the symptoms. The issue is those realms are rotten to the core. Either change the culture or don’t participate in it.
Indeed, Incendius (with its 4 sisters) is a lovely PvP realm!
And GDKP trash is not a part of it.
You’re pretending that a hypothetical goldsink would fix the issue. It won’t. To illustrate that, consider how TBC had flying mounts and then look at Wrath now.
Now it is. Welcome to reality lmao. RMT has infested Classic including plenty of the absolute gnarwhales that inhabit the progression servers coming back specifically for GDKP. lmao.
The issue with classic is the issue people have playing on pre existing servers who then concoct a whole bunch of nonsense about why we need fresh servers.
