Not on any server I was on, it was DM in beta and continued being DM when game went live.

And you’re seriously not noob enough to go try running Dire Maul at level 17, are you?
Edit: I mained Alliance back in Vanilla and I KNOW Dire Maul was added later on in a content patch. I was literally playing when the patch was added.
We called Deadmines VC on my server, mainly because folks going through just wanted VanCleef and everyone that said DM was laughed out of Westfall. VC stuck behind, DM did not and was reused to say Dire Maul.
And yeah, there’s different wings, but most players just run DM East because you need the Crescent Key for West and North, and I’m sure most groups didn’t just run multiple wings. But I certainly remember doing full runs to get folks their keys.
Yeah, that’s why you don’t use DM.

I can understand people using vc in sw or any other place. But people looking for a group to do dm in westfall is a no brainer that they’re referring to deadmines and not dire maul.

DeadMines is DM…why would you call that instance by its last boss name and no other??
but DireMaul I hear you saying …
Dire maul had wings when advertising for it you have to also say what wing you are doing so DireMaul is DMW/DME.

Have never done just one wing of DireMaul, always clear the whole place.
VC or Deadmines is acceptable. DM is not.

Anyone who is in or around that zone (especially during the 1st week), will automatically know /LFG DM! and what it means. Now if you want to chastise players in chat for using DM instead of your VC, enjoy the /ignores you will most likely get

every one I know has always used DM for deadmine. ALWAYS if I am looking for a group for deadmines and some one says invite for VC I will ignore them and consider them an idot.

In any case, I’ll be healing with my warrior friend tanking. The dps can either come on our VC runs or stay behind, don’t matter to us.
