On my vanilla server, nobody ever once called it VC. This is something that people started doing much later, like into whatever expansion they redid it (cata?).
I totally get the confusion between Deadmines and Dire Maul, but somehow my server just figured it out haha.
Anyway, it is, and will always be, DM for Deadmines. I’ve got 40 levels to not really care about any confusion between the two

No, “VC” means “Vancleef” - the original final boss of “Deadmines”. “DM” has always stood for “Deadmines”.
Dire Maul didn’t come out until later in vanilla - it doesn’t get to steal the abbreviation from Deadmines because you want it to.

I love bringing this up. Waiting for the loop hole jumpers to try and explain why that doesn’t matter.
knowing that some will use VC for deadmines instead of typing it all out might or might not be useful when looking for group.
I’m blessed that at least 3 other folk plan to make a toon and only play that toon when the 4 of us are online. Suspect we will find a fifth pretty quick.
That way everyone can play their solo / private toon how they want, and we all also can do our group stuff and meet up and just have fun on that toon.
I’ll probably also feed mats to my priest to work on tailoring / enchanting.
So long as I get where I"m going, speed matters little to none to these folk.
On old malygoes it was always VC, those private server folk will do what seems fine to them, and I don’t overly care TBH
What other dungeon is abbreviated for the last boss? None - DM = DeadMines.

My favorite on private server was to see, “LF1M Tank for the instance formerly known as VC, currently known as called Deadmines. I don’t want to debate this, I just want a tank.”
