With the constant divisions of the boost/no boost crowd claiming that RMT is the downfall of wow, I am curious. Wrath is practically inevitable in my eyes, but I won’t say confirmed nor denied but due to the fact it’s pretty much the other peak of wow to many, I ASSUME we will see wrath classic.
So I ask you, in the event this does happen, what exactly is going to be your stance when they add Faction/Race changes in wrath as they were added originally. Considering this is keeping with the historical preservation of wrath, but at the same time, apparently responsible for the downfall of society, I am curious to what the reaction is.
Please note, this is not a conversation piece for your pro or anti boost thoughts, me included.
It happened in wrath, so its fine to include those services in my opinion. The same with other controversial changes like the dungeon finder. If we want wrath in all its glory, we should expect to see those features.
Not to derail the thread, but I also wonder about the sparkle pony that was offered in wrath. It has legitimate in game advantages over other mounts, and will retail purchases carry over to wrath classic? Or will there be a NEW classic only mtx for it. Only time will tell…
Why would anyone be against something that existed during that expansion? And what does that have to do with boosts? You can say don’t talk about them, but you’re the one who mentioned it. Boosts didn’t exist in TBC. But faction change and race change did exist in Wrath. So…there’s really no comparison.
Generally speaking if it happened during WotLK I wont see it as being that bad. The downfall of the game mainly happened in Cata onwards.
The one exception is that I don’t want cross-realm LFD, which first appeared in WotLK.
I also have to agree with Lagspike that I’ve been wondering what they’re doing to do about sparkle pony. WotLK is when the cash shop actually got underway with full blown just selling mounts.
Cause everyone claims any RMT store items are the downfall of wrath, the fact they were or were not in is clearly irrelevant. Many people just straight up demand to have zero RMT purchases in classic regardless of their historical existence.
When you purchased the mount, it was sent via mail to all your characters, including any future characters you might create. In addition, the mount would scale with your riding scale, meaning your alts would never have to pay for another mount again…only the riding skill.
Ahhh ok I was unaware of that. I could see that being an issue as yes, that directly cuts out a gold sink in game and the mount roster didn’t exist. I never bought the item clearly, don’t think I cared back when it first launched. Interesting thought though.
Either way I suspect it’ll be the hot topic for a while when the Classic WotLK servers pop up.
I also foresee a lot of “Well it was in WotLK so I guess you’re now #somechanges, in that case let’s talk about other changes…” arguments being thrown around against people who don’t want RMT.
Pretty much, the only things I consider the downfall of wow was the LFR/LFD systems which made social interaction in a game heavily based around that social interaction, null and void.
Wow tokens I cannot weigh in on as I didn’t experience them much. Quit around the time they were introduced for unrelated reasons.
Classic forum and reddit community is some of the most whiny and annoying player base I have ever encountered. In game is just people happily screaming LAAAAAATE at the rend drop.
I don’t know if I’ve seen that. Seems to me people are focusing on the authentic inaccuracy and the negative impact on the game adding in a service that didn’t exist on the time, since it wasn’t designed around such a service.
But to address my first post. I can think of something in Wrath I would prefer not to be in Wrath Classic, and that’s the cross-realm nature of the dungeon finder. That was extremely damaging to the community. And actually for the majority of Wrath it didn’t exist. But with or without are both viable authentic choices.
I am fine with race/faction changes for WotLK. As others point out, the only change introduced in WotLK that I would oppose strongly is the LFD tool (in particular, the cross-realm element AND auto-teleporting you to the dungeon).
Faction/race changes sure I guess, enabling people to go and play with other people (like if they have friends that play) is a good thing for the game and community. People see faction/race/server changes as some sort of blurring the lines between factions and servers but they don’t understand that each of these things is a fairly large commitment, and they do have some restrictions to them.
