Would it have been better if Blizzard added a scene with her nodding her head agreeing to Varian decision? And the lore is, they talked already and she agreed with the plan.
And she gets new scene, sometime scenes no one expected of her. Like the afformentioned death of Ysera/her actions during the War of Thorns.
Or you know it is simply not her time to get the spotlight? For years Velen was largely ignore then Legion happened(and I d argue WoD even if it was AU Velen) and he had probably appeared in more cinematics than Varian. The point is, nearly every major character in WoW get their time.
And considering Tyrande’s story is gonna continue long after BfA I’ll bet when all is said and done she will probably end up with equal or more cinematics then Varian.
The point of praising humans is what really annoys every player that plays another race, literally we have them in every place or at least leading things when they shouldn’t be there like Jaina leading the charge against Azshara, this is bizarre as having gnomes and goblins leading the charge against the LK.
Without mention the writers and devs admitted in an interview around legion they prefer to introduce humans because they are more easy to write than the others races because they have to actually think outside of the box or even put some effort in doing anything with them.
The Horde’s continued existance impacts the entire Alliance, not just the night elves. Also, Garrosh/Varian have always had a weird rivalry while Jaina was a person most affected by his actions. It would only be right for them to be at the forefront of it.
And its not like Tyrande was forget. She had Warcrime to air her grievances. Hell, she even threw Jaina under the bus during the book.
Actually it was. it was a revisitation of Thrall and the Frostwolves’ pre-history. It was a deconstruction and re-examination of Orcish and Horde honor. WOD was pretty much a Horde story. And in the end the Horde are the only heroes of Draenor after Yrel takes her Draenei down the genocide road.
Your stance is valid if this development actually impacts the playable faction. Spoiler: It didn’t. In the hands of a better writing team, it would have been great development, I have no doubt.
What’s your standard for impact? It gave the Horde faction a good story background to their activity. What were you expecting, some kind of permanent buff over the Alliance?
And how many threads would spawn about how Tyrande is just some sycophantic lackey of Varian? Or that Tyrande is being used as a propr for Varian? If they totally didnt include her we would be arguing she is being neglected.
And if appropriate story had been given to the Night Elves in taking the fight back to Garrosh instead of the story being on Battlefield: Barrens and Varian learning from Anduin to be better this wouldn’t be an issue.
You’re arguing symptoms rather than the illness itself.
You know the current war in BfA is an extension of Garrosh plan right? Things are happening exactly as Sylvanas said it would in Tides of War. With Theramore gone, Tedrassil was a relatively easy target to attack.
Now that the night elves have lost their city, I expect their story will continue and possibly expand the same way Jaina did. But also like Jaina’s story will probably take years to happen.
I wasn’t really planning on spoiling myself but considering your point requires me to know, I decided to read it. All in all, the quest exemplified what it meant to be a gnome, mostly using gnomish inventions. Really, from the looks of it is light and fluffy and fun.
If your point is it does not push the gnomish story much, it is because I expect Gelbin being frozen after the raid will probably be their story hook, whatever it might be.
My point is the Gnomes still don’t get their city back, and their story is just fluff without expanding on it, so you’re putting a lot of empty faith in the idea that the Night Elves will get any better treatment.
It sure is. Night Elves get attacked, then don’t get in game representation of having taken their lands back while the story moves on to other things Blizzard is interested in.
Part of that is simply because they have the unfavorable luck of having a dungeon in their capital. The other part is due to its proximity to Ironforge.
Honestly, I expect they will use the excuse that gnomeragan is not full controlled by the gnomes yet for future content.
You make it sound like it is just a night elven problem. Did you forget Westfall is still burning?(unless that has been changed recently, the defias quest ends with westfall forever in a state of being burned to the ground).
I personally enjoyed how the story of the draenei turned out(more or less) in Legion. People thought for the longest time the draenei would never get any screen and voila, people just needed to wait abit.
You specifically omitted the part where I said “on Kalimdor”. If I was talking about the existence of the Horde overall, then sure, I’d agree. But, the bulk of the Horde is on Kalimdor, and presented a much more tangible and closer threat to the Tyrande and the Night Elves than to Varian and Anduin.
So have Tyrande and Azshara. And look where we are.
Theramore was tragic in scope, but not his only atrocity. See: Silverwind Refuge being slaughtered to nearly the last man, woman, amd child, including civilians, like merchants, and their corpses left to rot in the streets. It’s not like Tyrande marched on Orgrimmar just because “I luv muh blue”.
Nobody said they shouldn’t be there. Just that Tyrande had considerable grievances of her own, and should have also been at the forefront. Instead, we got her issues handled offscreen, while the Humans debate and decide everything.
Not to mention, her contribution to the end of the war was to… Cede territories. Something that no civilization in their right mind has ever done when they were winning a war.
Lets take Wrath of the Lich King as an example of the Draenei being sidelined, because they definitely were then. The Exodar wasn’t exploded in a playable in-game event and its destruction presented an animatic and a fully CG cinematic and Azuremyst Isle phased to represent it’s destruction at the beginning of Wrath of the Lich King only for then for the Draenei to be sidelined.
