it’s one of the few concrete things we know about elune, nearly everything else is guesswork but it’s def a she
we don’t know her nature, her motives, what exactly she is, if she’s even active still, what her powers are, if she’s ever genuinely helped the elves
but we do know it’s a she atleast, and that’s…something i guess
we also have no idea what exactly went down there, if elune is indeed related to the titans in some way that could very well be a safeguard system
if it was someone else? sure maybe…but since we don’t know who or what elune is at current Ysera being collected may have everything to do with her being an aspect at one point and her death being programmed to be collected and reused (or safeguarded, or any number of things)
it’s not an indication of much because we really don’t know alot of anything that’s been going on
Elune empowering Tyrande actually happened. Any actual in game evidence to imply anything secretly nefarious to suggest ‘she an old god yo’ isn’t concrete enough to justify anything but feverish theories.
Openly sharing fan fiction is often embarrassing you know.
no, she performs the night warrior ritual, which is a different thing than being empowered directly
…again tyrande is the one claiming that elune abandoned her and the kaldorei
how exactly does that work if she was empowered BY elune?
“Shandris: You spoke harshly to King Anduin, Tyrande. The kaldorei can ill afford to shun the Alliance. They have provided aid and comfort to us in these dark times.
Tyrande: The young king is foolish to trust our enemies. Harsh words should be the least of his fears.
Shandris: The Banshee Queen no longer leads the Horde. Those who do seem more inclined toward peace than war.
Tyrande: If the wolf is rabid, it matters not who rides it. Sooner or later, the beast will bare its fangs.
Shandris: You are dearest to my heart, Tyrande. I beg you, let go of the Black Moon’s rage and embrace the mother’s light once again. I could not bear to lose you to darkness.
Tyrande: Know this. My hunger for vengeance will not be sated so long as Sylvanas Windrunner remains free–and until I know why Elune abandoned her children.”
how does one both gain power from a being while being abandoned by said being?
then her power is extremely limited by default, the old pantheons gods were weak and had many blind spots, even dying if their domain fails to hold relevance anymore
as was the case with poor ol pan
Simple but kind of a real answer? It would take total war. Not the limited it’s been lately, but complete and total. More like the original Warcraft. There is no guarantee that either faction would win. And let’s pretend that one does somehow win. It’s not going to be a decisive victory with one side being wiped out or made weak for generations to come, and the winner coming out in a much better position. It would be, at the very best, just below an equivalent of Mutual Assured Destruction. What has been happening is more like the Iran-Iraq war. It lasted for a decade, losses on both sides, and neither gained anything. If they had gone all out, both nations would have been destroyed. You can’t claim to be a winner when you lose say 80% of your population but your enemy has lost 81%.
The thing is… they say over and over how dangerous the ritual is. How few survive it. How they go mad. How bad it is, and the priestesses beg her not to do it.
Her belief in Elune and that the ritual was opening her to Elune… doesn’t matter. Vol’jin believed deep in his soul that the Loa and the spirits wanted him to put Sylvanas in charge, but he was deceived by a dark force we still can’t identify.
Now Tyrande, who’s supposed to be the very Avatar of Elune, is having a crisis of faith?
I see it as not unlikely that Tyrande has actually been empowered by the same unnamed “dark force” that fooled Vol’jin and that Sylvanas serves. It’s not certain… but it would also make sense.
Also Blizzard loves to crap on the faith of the lore characters and on the Night Elves specifically.
This is where I want to say something clever about the moon not giving off its own light, that it is only a mask. If the right eye is light, the left eye must be shadow.
Ahh but you are mistaken we get punished with leaders we dont want like Baine and forced to follow the white knight narrative together with the Alliance.
Its a worse punishment then anything you can inflict on me. I rather be stuck in the twisting nether then be forced to be with these good goy leaders this pain Im feeling is terrible.
Nope. The horde will not change without new writers. Punishment is stupid, because it alienates more than half of the playerbase, and none of us had any option to not do the story content, and still progress their character. This is a stupid idea about punishing people inside a video game, for things beyond their control. You come up with a way to punish the horde, while changing nothing for the players, and you may have something. If not, please stop with the spam.
That isn’t even punishment, that’s just part of the game moving forward. They have no major city there, and have done no construction, they don’t plan on staying.
but the moon isn’t elune, she is the goddess of the moon but is also only tied to the white lady
even if we were to assume the myths were literal an eclipse by the blue child would be a bad thing, as it is directly eclipsing and overwriting elune
the point was that was how the greek gods worked, if something stopped being important to people the god died with it
if people stopped looking up and cared for the sky and lightning no more Zues would die
and we don’t know if elune is limited because blizzard hasn’t actually expanded on it before adding it as a major player
which is why the current story telling is crap, there’s no build up, there’s no slow drawn writing of someone into a villian or a hero but rather they’re thrust into those roles and we’re expected to just deal with it
