Almost never If I’m to be honest. I’m glad that Blizzard took the chance to break the mold back then. In vanilla I mostly played both factions but TBC is where I started to become more endeared towards the Horde, partially due to the addition of the Sin’dorei.
Not nice enough to play as, you’ll note, just nicer to fight against when you’re a self righteous Alliance main.
But anyway yeah, Blood Elves ruin the Horde theme but we’re more or less past that now and might as well be over it.
And hey, we got cool werewolves as a monster counterpart. They may not fit the Alliance theme either but subversion of tropes can be cool, not to say Blood Elves and Worgen are that well written, but they do provide cool unique flavor to their own factions.
It’s the liberalization of the Alliance and Horde that ultimately destroyed the fantasy feel of the game and resulted in the mess that we have now, in BFA.
The factions should be unique and different, and have their own specific themes. The Alliance still fairly holds to their original theme, though the additions of Void Elves has really put a dampening on it. Worgen are another issue, but for the most part can work itself into the theme.
The Horde however are not even reconizable as to what they once were. They are a bit of a mixed bag of races and themes that turns into just a jumbled mess. What exactly even is the Horde any more? Just the bad guys, right?
I’m rolling my eyes so hard right now. You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Since Warcraft 3 (which tbfh probably happened before you were born) the Horde has been about inclusivity and rising above racial boundaries to make a better whole.
tl;dr: You know nothing, Jon Snow.
No thanks, B.Elves have earned their keep and I’m just fine with 'em in the Horde.
We just need to stop givin’ all our Mages to Dalaran now.
Ah yes, the vanilla horde with their blood and honor. The Forsaken were truly much more “noble beasts” (oof) before those fancy blood elves showed up.
Lorewise, Bloodelves have proven their keep in the Horde. Either way they would not have joined the alliance again, at least not without proving their loyalty again. That latter half in itself would make things difficult anyway.
Gameplay wise it’s impossible to not have a popular favorite among a large group of people, and it would have happened either way. Even in classic more people probably play Orcs and Undead than Trolls and Tauren, but that’s just fine for the same reason. I can’t say how it is to pvp as alliance, all too much, but I imagine it’s not that difficult to find non-elves just yet.
Time and again they’ve proven they’ve got both blood and honor.
Are… are you asking for High Elves?
Remember the night elves that invaded Quelthalas!
I kind of feel like the OP doesn’t really have much lore relevance. Summarized it seems to be complimenting the immersive quality of vanilla by pointing out there isn’t a majority of belves there, and instead, more traditional Horde races.
That’s nice but… doesn’t have much to do with the story, really. I mean, I see how it does, but still.
He is, but in not a very subtle way.
2/10 troll post.
Also, I’m 23. I grew up playing WC3 before WoW was released. Try again.
Remember that Quel’thalas was invaded by Orcs, Trolls, and Undead.
Nope. They’ve proven to betray the Horde though. Remember when at the first sign of trouble, when the Horde needed them most, they looked to the Alliance?
Remember when it was also the Alliance that saved them from the Burning Legion, and their addiction?
Remember when it was the Alliance that cleansed the Sunwell?
Come on.
No. Not sure how you got that idea. Asking for the Horde to stay true to itself and not be a mockery of what it once was. WC3 and WoW Classic Horde, Thrall’s Horde, will never be forgotten.
So you’re against Belves but Forsaken are okay. How so?
So you played the game and learned absolutely nothing from it?
Jesus wept.
It’s been over 12 years.
12 years.
Tweeeeeelve Yeeeeaaaars.
The Horde has existed with Blood Elves longer than it did without them. People have completed high school, college, and a post grad degree since Blood Elves were introduced. Someone who started playing in their 20s in BC could now have a child old enough to play. Someone who began playing when they were ten years old in BC is now old enough to vote, drink, serve in the military, drive, and gamble.
Was BC wibbly wobbly with lore? Yes, of course it was, my forum avatar’s race is proof of that. But it was their first expansion, and they couldn’t possibly have foreseen at the time how far down the line the game, and the story, would have gone.
Their only mistake was having the Blood Elves’ addiction cured in the same expansion they were introduced.
diferents trolls and diferent undeads!
forsaken =/= scorge
darkspear =/= amani.
It’s pretty funny how Horde players claim that, but suddenly High Elves = Blood Elves.
