The Horde Is Better Without Blood Elves

It’s all just angry bluster over blood elves being Horde and not Alliance. Twelve years since BC went live and peoples still aren’t over it.

And this is why you are my favorite MHP. You actually talk sense and not silly nonsence.

There is a tv add of a belf healing an orc. Not sure what you are talking about

“Hey, Blizz… you should just copy LOTR like everyone else.”

Blizzard 2007 - “How 'bout no.”

It’s too bad Alliance still get mocked as the LotR faction with or without those High Elves. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t want Blood Elves, though.

Well, at least, I didn’t know I wanted Blood Elves until we got Void Elves. Those are some pretty sweet Blood Elves we got.

Still want High Elves, too, though.

Shhhhh…do you want a High Elf thread? This is how we get High Elf threads.

I think you’re a bit lost, because we’re currently in one.

Eh, this thread already kinda is one.

Also, there’s indeed a certain cool factor to the idea that the Alliance, the less monster-like faction, has Dark Elves which usually get paired with monster races in other fantasy settings, then you go over and look at the Horde, the monster faction, and they have the traditional High Elves. (Which Blood Elves might as well be, because their dark magic edge has been changed Light themes, making them even less like dark elves than they originally were.)

It’s a cool way to subvert typical fantasy expectations. Then again, Nightborne break that mold because they’re a flavor of Dark Elf as well, meaning the Horde have both High and Dark Elves whereas Alliance just have Dark Elves, so we pretty much have to ignore them if we’re gonna start saying Blizzard is doing some kind of “cool fantasy subversion” thing which I feel certain people only argue as an excuse for one side to not have a thing rather than because there is a genuine love for the practice. (Personally I genuinely love fantasy tropes being subverted, but at the same time I don’t mind if Alliance got traditional fair elves that are not another flavor of Dark Elf either, because I’m not obsessed with these weird guidelines being followed for the sake of denying people something they want to play.)

I know. That comment was a bit of a joke.

“Yeh best start believin’ in High Elf threads, Ms. Zullamia… yer in one!”

I have to say we don’t really fit in with the Horde. I miss the “original” fantasy of the Blood Elves but if we are going to be honest it barely ever existed.

Personally, I see the Night Elves as more thematically closer to Wood/Wild Elves.

I would say it’s more like the Horde got High and Dark Elves, while the Alliance got Wood/Wild and… whatever we want to interpret Void Elves as… a step beyond “dark elf”, maybe? I can’t really think of any Elf in media that has been mixed with Lovecraftian themes.

Void Elves are a variant of Dark Elf that practice shadow magic, like the ones from Might and Magic. (Who are also called Dark Elves.)

Night Elves are definitely some variant of Wood Elf but they take some inspiration from Drow as well in their design.

Huh, never got into Might and Magic. Never knew that.

Hey hey dude? Here s crazy suggestion. If you don t like blood elves well…

Don’t play as one!

The only thing more annoying than high elf threads are the people who complain about/mass report them.
