The Horde & Forsaken Deserve Better Than A Sylvanas Redemption Arch

Voss is a mess, who is not even really a Forsaken. She was a Scarlet, then a member of the Uncrowned. Why and how she is leading the Forsaken now, I have no idea.

I have to agree with you in that there is an alarming number of Horde players who really just hate their own faction. Some among us though embrace that role. The ends justify the means and if I must be some vague definition of “evil” so be it.

The evil ELITE!

Hard disagree.

Voss would make a GREAT Forsaken leader. She’s pragmatic, cutthroat, but also compassionate to the Forsaken, caring about their future.

Yes, she had a Stupidity Arc during Legion and BFA, but it seems she’s come to terms with how absolutely dumb she had been written, especially in the wake of Sylvanas’ defection.

If Calia becomes the forsaken leader I would have no interest in ever playing one again. Tired of various horde races being led by alliance pets

The only reason Voss is in any leadership position now is because Blizzard had no one else that could be put in place easily. Voss is not loyal to the Forsaken, and certainly is not ideal for leading them based on her canon lore.

Well, thats partly right. Between Varimathras being a traitor, and Putress being a traitor, and Godfrey being a traitor, and Sylvanas being a traitor, the Forsaken don’t have a lot of loyal characters. In Legion, though, Voss cared about the people being raised as undead, and didnt want them to go through the suffering she did. So she might not be ideal based on her skillset, but nonideal leaders can grow into their roles.

I’d be happy if we got another Desolate Council, seeing as absolute authority hasn’t worked for the Forsaken
 or the Horde in general.

We’ve many characters that can take a seat: Hecular, who took an active role in the pre-patch Legion assaults in Hillsbrad (and was a student of Kel’thuzad); Gunther Arcanus, a mage so powerful people consider him a Lich and is such a cool character; Deathstalker Commander Belmont, who is honestly a major leader already; and Master Apothecary Faranell, the guy that lead the creation of Blight.

Honorable mention: Aelthalyste, a banshee who’s seen as the secondary leader of the Cult of Forgotten Shadows.

It was A question and it was someone asking if she had died. Not if she’d become a forsaken leader. She’s a coward who ran away when her people were in trouble. Who never amounted to anything in game.

And no Menethil should lead the Forsaken. I’d rather have someone within the Forsaken rise through the ranks to lead than Calia.

She just needs deleted.

if you cant see the Disney style forced redemption thats coming i got some bad news for you

I’d rather have the villain bat than the Horde get more determined for it by the Alliance. Keep her on your own side.

I like the model remake, but that is a lot of effort being put into a character that should get a death sentence for her crimes and not a redemption arch where she gets away with her deeds

Legit though, it is a nice model and I appreciate the improvements.

Yeah the Menethils kinda gave up any legit claim to rule when the last one murdered everyone.

Lost in the mix of discussion about Sylvanas, who has a unique added element to her personality due to the whole “Frostmourne shattering her soul” thing, is that even previous to this, the Forsaken were generally portrayed as being extremely morally compromised as a result of their undead condition. The lore as it was being that they had less ability to feel “warm” emotions, lacking empathy, compassion, etc. to the extent of the living, predisposing them to nihilism, insanity, and cruelty. You could get rare exceptions, but they were just that - exceptions.

Blizzard, as in so MANY things, has added a lot of inconsistency to the mix. So as a result of some of the out-of-game books, you get indications of the larger population of Forsaken retaining more of their original moral sense of self, and more driven in the past by a sense of rejection by their living relatives and just a general PTSD. The Desolate Council being a plot device to play that up. It conflicts with the game’s presentation, which never had a Desolate Council for undead players to see or interact with.

Part of the problem with the idea of the Forsaken behaving like a people with a moral outlook, rather than a half-insane, nihilistic, violent people, is that the more rational a Forsaken could be, the more they would conclude that their “undead life” should simply end so that they can go to the afterlife. Their undead state is tortuous. They get none of the simple pleasures of life. They do not procreate, form families, or have any of the normal concerns of living. Think how much of your day is taken up by sleep, eating, drinking, and working to make sure you’ll continue having the resources to eat, drink, and sleep soundly. Increasing their number is associated the evil acts of murder and raising the dead into an undead life that’s horrible, and that they didn’t ask for.

It’s very hard to see Calia as their leader, based on what they’ve been in the game. But if Blizzard is leaning harder into a different treatment of the Forsaken’s past, then that retcon makes Calia into a more appropriate leader. It will leave a gaping plot hole though of why they don’t just collectively seek to move on, because any compassionate leader would recognize their undead state as an unnatural curse they should seek freedom from. (I suppose there is one alternative - seeking a way to give true resurrection to the undead).

Have Calia lead the Forsaken and Sylvanas lead the blood elves and we’ll call it a day.

Yes, yes you do. And it will be in the form of your new faction leader being Anduin. You are welcome.

Hopefully Sylvanas is at his side <3

She literally does. Shes your new queen.

Blood Elves already have a leader.

She’s been a complete non-factor on our side. She’s already a has-been.
