I don’t believe that. The devs would have written what they wanted to write. If they wanted to write the Horde starting a war, then having a council would just have made the council characters look worse for not preventing it.
Regarding the example of WotLK/Wrathgate specifically: Look at how they handwaved Varian actually declaring war at Undercity just so they could pin the next war on Garrosh. If they can write around that, they can write around a council.
Yeah. It definitely would’ve been one of his less than genius decisions that he would’ve forced on everyone. Than use some mumbo jumbo Corporate talk to gaslight everyone who didn’t like it
So, lets use your own dumb logic agaisnt you then if you want to play smart, since you say Yrel is in the Alliance because IN HOTS she says she is, THEN the Defias Brotherhood and thus Vanessa Vancleef is also in the Alliance since in Warcraft Rumble Defias thieves are part of the Alliance faction.
Here, i got you i think…so now you will stop taking other games in account now that you understand that its not related? Because well, if we also follow your logic, warmaster Voon is part of the Horde…and is horde pride character!
I think you should really accept one thing about factions and factions pride : Factions always were a gameplay thing, never really a lore one, the devs actually wanted to make like 6 playable factions in WoW originally, which were horde, alliance, night elves, undead, illidari and even burning leigon.
But this asked lot more work so they had to make sacrifices and for example, made the night elves part of the alliance which was stupid and never explained in Vanilla why they even joined the Alliance.
Thus all factions pride are a fake thing because the factions in wow never really were pushed by a lore thing to begin with but by gameplay.
And now that we are in TWW we can see that factions mean nothing anymore.
Man, if they did something like that even today in a online service it be so cool and popular even now rarely if ever outside the RTS games, some PvP games or Single players your get to play as undead or Demons…
Then again Blizz expanding on their world by building races with their own culture and nation could be a start no?
Ah, pay no mind that the Hopium again in me, always hoping that Blizz realize what they have and add to the game before the gaming new era timer started to tick…
Its 2025 and the games coming out are looking insanely good… so I guess the timer is already starting ticking… so we will see I guess.
Are you a fellow Inferno player in Heroes of Miight and Magic? Because i am and i always found extremly cool that you could play the actual demons in these games!
The idea of having these factions in wow was to make you play the same factions you played in the RTS. In war3 you do play the “baddies” and it was the interesting part of the rts is that you played all the sides of the stories which made it lot more deep that what we have now in wow.
You do realize she sort of is Alliance, or at least Alliance adjacent now. Like if the general populace of Stormwind is threatened then she might actually be willing to get some of her people to help it. If anything, this might be hints of a future plot rather then anything else
Funny how you seem to forget what happened to the ending of the human heritage questline.
It was a gameplay thing which is also a lore thing now because of the very nature of WoW’s structure and hence why, using Warcraft Rumble, The Night elves were made part of the Alliance faction, again, instead of making them their own separate faction. So yeah, what happened in WoW proper has a deeply important and wide ranging effect on Warcraft lore.
And yet people complain constantly that the factions have an “Alliance bias”. Until Blizzard actually disolves the factions(and make no mistake I do think it is a possibility) the faction still do what it is suppose to do. Get people to cheer for red or blue.
Dam, are you for real now? It is YOU who said that she dont count as a member of the Alliance when i brought her up…dont try to trick me now lol.
They can complain but if they complain its because they dont know the lore, because ending of war3 was exactly the end of the conflicts, how many times will blizz continue to say that the old hatred continues? Lul, let it go.
I played the 3rd and 4th one as a kid! Loved to play Inferno and Bastion! Necropolis was less my cup of tea as i am not an undead fan but i can admit its awesome to play as them.
I need to look up does game again and refresh on their lore and see which was my last game, maybe buy them and play them when WoW is in downtime for the next patch… the last one I played form Might and Magic after the RTS that blowed my mind was Dark Messiah… A bit of spoilers ahead if you didn’t play this old game and is interested to read on it:
Man I never thought Necromancer antagonists as being the Heroes and all that I was doing was basically causing the end of the World! When I found myself with that final choice I was like: "wait what? IM THE BAD GUY all along!? AWESOME!!!
Ack, you deleted before I was able to finish reading! Don’t worry I won’t get upset or judge whatever it was!
LOL To me WC3 and these ware my fav RTS… after I tasted playing as monsters faction I could never go back to playing a simple heroes ever again…
I found those types of stories seem usually more interesting and had more twist or turns than go simply kill for: “righteous and world saving reason, because I said so, everyone loves you, the end”.
Thankfully such niche stories apparently had some degree of success that D&D and other games started to allow you to play as such monster races. I remember it was hard to hunt and find these type of games at that time! My greatest find was a MMO game that let you play as a traditional Dragon and you could chose to be tiny races or Dragon Boss, it was such a weird PvP setting but so fun! Sad when they close the server.
Ah, I’m feeling now old! Good old memories…
He but do you know there was a new one being announced not so long ago?! I am excited about it!
Dark Messiah, i did play it too, it was great! I do like the 5th game a lot and also the 6th one, 7th was not that great, but myself i did not like the 4th much either…
I really wonder how good the next one will be.
Well, thats kinda like Yrel, because it all came from that, you still consider Yrel as an Alliance, while imo she is not since we saw her in that Mag’har scenario.
But i do wonder, when next we see her, you think she wil be all friendly with Alliance?
