Why must you continue to propagate this attitude Blizzard. All it does is breed jealously and resentment. And before you get all self righteous and say,“Well I EARNED it peon. Do the content and you can earn it too.” Well, that’s only partially true. Yes, I could do the content and earn it , but what if I’m busy doing other stuff in game?
What if I’m locked behind a rep or time wall? It just seems Blizzard rewards those that no life harder than most. Would it really hurt peoples epeens that much if they left it in game and let people earn it at their leisure?
This is how Blizzard makes their money. It’s easier than developing a bunch of content that a bunch of people would like. Easier to create similar content but lock it behind a time gate.
That’s called priorities. You can’t truly be upset about not achieving X because you decided Y was more important to you. That’s just how life works, you make decisions and sacrifices based on what feel is important to you at the time
The “haves and have nots” view is one that you choose to adopt, especially in a video game.
Furthermore, if there is something that you really want in game you can also choose if it’s important enough to dedicate effort into achieving/acquiring or if you’d rather put your efforts into something else. It’s called opportunity cost.
The point I’m trying to make is that there is no good reason to remove things like mounts, weapon skins, achievements, etc. Especially when some of them take forever to get anyway.
What just so a select few can lord it over everyone else?
Games are made for a target audience. MMORPGs are generally tailored towards players who have a fair amount of free time, while still providing some content for those who don’t. If you don’t have the time to do what you want, then I hate to tell you, you aren’t World of Warcraft’s target audience.
A common saying in the game industry is: If you try to design for everyone, you will end up designing for no one.
Unfortunately games cannot cater to everyone. If World of Wacraft does not let you achieve what you want, then find a game that does.
Took a long time to fix it. Hope you’re not a mechanic irl. Oh no, I’ve got it! You’re a Blizzard dev and white knight. That’s why it took you so long to ‘fix it’.
A game can have multiple target audiences. Changing this game to benefit the smallest target audience at the expense of the majority seems to be a poorly thought out attempt to restore some “community” that never existed, while encouraging the worst element in the game, entitled elitists who want it all, and want the game all to themselves. Those who remember that “community spirit” are remembering how they got the best stuff because of their connections, and somehow think that encouraging wannabe elite players to act like jackadzes in the forum will restor raiding to its rightful position, ie, they raid, they show off their gear, and people whisper to tell them how awesome they are.
What? Nobody is whispering yet? NERF CASUAL CONTENT DADDY BLIZZ!
