The hate for shadowlands is biased

Heaven forbid extra planar travel feel grand and epic.

But it did not feel grand and epic, at least to me, - it felt like a time sink.

I guess that’s how the cookie crumbles for some folk. :dracthyr_shrug:

I think another problem with Shadowlands is the Shadowlands themselves felt too different from Azeroth to feel familiar/in keeping with the rest of the game and too LIKE Azeroth to be exciting to explore. Some of the architecture and scenery resembled places we’ve seen before. I don’t envy the artists there, honestly. They probably weren’t allowed to go too nuts with it.

Shadowlands just fell flat for me. Systems and gameplay aside, I just had no interest in what was happening - especially coming on the heels of the end of BFA.

To go from Old God stuff (which is some of the best lore and potential for mayhem this game has to offer) to
some big dude with a metal collar I’ve never heard of that is doing stuff with souls or whatever.

I tapped out quick and went into autopilot for most of the expansion.

i liked it, but losing sylvannas and saurfang was too heavy of a price. i had to return once i had df gear to finish the harder torghast because it was made for plate wearers. after the fact, rep grinding was pretty cool

I hated SL for a very different reason than most people.
My reason is its a expac about WoW’s afterlife, only come to find out if you actually stop and think, SL is not even an afterlife. The fact that you can just “die again” negates the entire point of it being an afterlife. Ontop of that it made WoW’s story just depressing in being most of the cosmos is actually erased either by the Legion or the Maw.
I honestly headcannon/ break lore a lot when it comes to SL because there just no way people could function if that was reality.

Shadowlands was last expansion, a bit late to make a thread about it when we are entering War Within, but no not liking something isn’t bias.

Given how things worked in Shadowlands her death would not have been as permanent as you are thinking. Just look at Yesra as an example, she died but she was still able to play a role in DF. Characters don’t have to stay static, they can change and that change can even include death. I will always be of the opinion that Sylvanas should have died. She could be a character where we save her now only to have her die for us at a later date.

if they put the company at risk which based on how they failed in their job and as such company at risk them being fired only makes sense business wise. feelings have nothing to do with it.

uther being in torghast post frostmourne destruction and his other half being in bastion is a major continuity error, uther the light bringer is in the paladin orderhall quests. his ghost.

Nah. The hate for Shadowlands is well founded. The love for DF is biased as a result of it coming off the heels of Shadowlands.

DF was like being given a drop of cold water after walking through a desert for two years. Of course it feels divine but it’s really not as much as it seems.

Hate for shadowlands is very much justified. Love for shadowlands is pure contrarianism or naivity. Shadowlands permanently scarred the story in a horrific way in that now there is not and can not ever be stakes to death. It had some of the longest content droughts of all time. It normalized three raid tiers and abandoning the xpac on the fourth like we’re seeing now in DF again.

Shadowlands is the lowest the game has ever been moreso even than WoD.

shadowlands = grind lands with bullcrap stuff

you want that backpack? better hope the item drops, after you fill in 10 red, 10 yellow and someone screws up the 10 blue and adds 11 yellow

fun times

shadowlands blows, borrowed power from covenant blows, excessive boring rng grinds that depend on the cooperation of randos in the world with you, blows.

shadowlands sucks dude, still to this day

shadowlands broke continuity it broke all afterlife existing lore it contradicts existing ingame things violates existing character stories like arthas and uther im glad the guy who made this lore (denusar) was replaced his writting broke wow and whats sad is he tries to blame others for what he did aka alex even though alex was gone long before work on the shadowlands story started or end of bfa.

I like the tower at SL, but the farm was horrible, doing that with more than 1 character, they ruin the dark lady, and the end boss donst even feel like a real enemy

I enjoyed shadowlands well enough, and found the story interesting. I like the way rezzing back to life is finally fleshed out.

The grinding was too much.

They need to make SLands a N’zoth dream. They should just admit the failure, burn the bridge. I know “it was all a dream” is so lame but leaving slands in existence is a thousand times worse for an already butchered setting. I have no faith in this grand three expac story theyre setting up if nobody can die because theyll always be a portal away in death theme park xD

it is a plot on the story to such a degree there is only 2 ways to fix it 1 have it removed from the game entirely or retcon it to being an illusion . otherwise its continuity breaks and lore destroying plague will only stain wow and new players who started at bfa will never get lore that doesnt break continuity.
