The hate for shadowlands is biased

it was awful and the last patch was the longest draught in WoW history with 0 content, literally worst than WoDs content draught.

good things: art, design, xmogs, random things to collect
bad things: literally every single other aspect of the game

All love or hate for something is biased. That’s what makes opinions about something that someone likes or does not like biased.

But each biased opinion had its own relevance as to why people didn’t like Shadowlands. I didn’t like it that much simply because I really, really liked the Necrolord style and themes but as a warlock I was massively punished in group content for not playing Night Fae. I tried, I really tried to make Necrolord Affliction work but it just wasn’t possible (when Decimating Bolt wasn’t bugged with Drain Soul in the Beta and S4, anyways). If it was just as simple as changing a talent for some throughput that would have been one thing, but it more or less altered the sides of the story you would see, the theme of your personal hub, the style of your cosmetic rewards.

If you didn’t like the theme of your “best” covenant, you either had to deal with not liking the theme or suffering a 10~15% total loss in power which was no small amount.

It wasn’t biased.

Shadowlands had no respect for your time and demanded you spend a fair amount of it in-game to prevent you from falling behind. Grinding currencies on currencies and spending hours in torghast.

Everything about the design of the expansion was geared towards making things tedious and time consuming. Even the world quests were suddenly taking a lot longer than they had been an expansion prior.

Also narratively, it removed a whole lot of weight from the death of characters. Not to mention the whole “Ha ha i am the Jailer, and i’m responsible for literally everything. Hope you don’t want character development for me, because i am a 1 dimensional cartoon villain!”

no. the reason for the content draught was because in mop they had to retrain a WHOLE BUNCH OF DEVS mid cycle it ate up a bunch of time. time they didnt really have. its why siege dragged on for so long. so they had little time left to work on wod since a good chunk of it was spent training the new devs.

Shadowlands wasn’t that bad the main problem was the lame antagonist from it. If Jailer had a proper build up and directly led to the follow up expansion it might have been their best til now. Because unlike the disaster of WoD it actually had real content. WoD suffered a massive content drought between SoO and the final raid. It almost killed the game.

Nope. I don’t buy books. If they have made a decision to degrade the quality of the game in order to sucker people into buying books and other outside media to figure out what the heck just happened, it’s not going to be my problem.

Another thing, World Quests in SL were poorly implemented. You’d land, start doing something, only to realize you were on step 1 of ??? and had no way of knowing how long it would take to finally be done with the stupid thing.

The jailer was a joke. Literally. He was advertised as this spook in the background like in some horror story, until release day. He ended up being not only a cartoon villain but a bad one at that. And it’s not even that they can’t do some of that horror stuff, I mean they did pull it off in Drustvar. But this, this was just terrible so terrible that I could have done better with my crappy imagination.

SL only had one redeeming quality
 the mogs.

Everything else was not enjoyable. No Bias, just didn’t have what legion/ wrath or DF had.

Skeptical about the ww setting being different than the typical azeroth experience.

She is dead. Been dead since w3.
The hate people have for her is warranted. Destroying teldrassil was pretty disgusting.

She should have been killed.

Anyway other than that I loved Shadowlands.

Bait used to be believable.

Why am I supposed to have an unbiased perspective?
I played the expansion. It sucked. I have a bias for a reason.

The hate for Sylvanas had nothing to do with people not liking her and wanting her dead.
It was because she came out of nowhere and 1v50ed the Lich King and all of his minions because she had an insane off-screen power growth.

How is it biased? I don’t understand your premise.

This matches what I remember.

I still take alts through WoD from time to time. I had (and have) no beef with the leveling. People who go through it now without having lived through it live won’t get the hate
and frankly neither will some of those who did who were primarily spamming dungeons and raids. Those were pretty good from what I hear. The content it had was all right, there just wasn’t enough of it.

Like I’ve said elsewhere, good ideas, poor execution.

Shadowlands, on the other hand, was a thief of joy right from the start. Finally it got to the point where it felt like a joyless slog of chore after chore
 which was when I quit.

Popular character or not, her story was and still is trash. She ended up becoming a villain causing the suffering of thousands, if not millions, of souls for reasons that were not explained in game. Then her only punishment was Maw dailies, which we players had been doing for how long? We had already mostly cleaned up the Maw as well. It was trash, the whole losing a piece of her soul was trash, and writing Tyrande to be the bigger person was trash. Tyrande should have taken her head, and said with that all is forgiven. With that a shot of Sylvanas’ soul joining the stream of souls to be judged and redeemed.

I don’t have a horse in this race, but they do have to be careful with how many legacy characters they kill off. Characters like her (polarizing or not) provide tethers to the earlier roots of the game.

Yes, without BFA shadowlands would have never happened.

So bfa is one if not the most guilty of all of this for ruining the story.

And people looooove to look the other way when it’s mention that BFA did ruin the story

Remember folks

Shadowlands could have never happened if it wasnt for BFA first.

Have a great weekend!

I didn’t hate it since that takes effort. I will say though it was a horrible expansion.

It seemed almost like someone at Blizzard looked at it in early alpha and said, “We need to run this through a program to make it less fun by adding more currency grinds and travel time.”

I understand that well. Too well. I still want her gone.

We got Danoozed. Oh well. It didn’t ruin the expansion for me but it’s one of the few attacks on SL I actually get.

All I’ll say is this.

Shadowlands is the ONLY expansion where I started leveling then quit. I was there for the launch and then quit and I went in with an open mind. I just was not vibing with it for whatever reason. I’ve left at points in previous expansions but never while still leveling.
