The hate for shadowlands is biased

I feel like the hate against shadowlands is unwarranted. This level of vitriol from the forums is unbelievable because I just get this feeling is from online personalities.

The unbelievable amount of hate for the expansion is beyond anyone with an unbiased perspective.

Lore retcon? Chronicles? Did you people not read what chronicles even was it wasn’t a set and stone lore book it’s a “perspective” from the titans.

The grimoire of the shadowlands is just the same from a different perspective.

The hate for sylvanas is so biased due to the fact that many on the forums wanted her dead and not continue living when one thing the forum goers don’t understand she is a popular character. The redemption she got is fine because her other half is more logical than her other half and combining both would make her a different character entirely but it didn’t wipe her action and so she is now atoning for her actions.

Without shadowlands the dragon isles world tree wouldn’t have happened and Ysera seeing her daughter again and her seeing her sister alexstraza.

We can all agree the borrowed power stuff needed to go but everything else is so biased.

Lich king? He needed to be put down permanently and end the title of the lich king and discontinue that premise.

The villain was rushed no denying that but it did its job as a villain and was put down at the end.

In the end, I don’t know how many of the hate were even real when online personalities were spreading the hate and its followers chew it up. But, for me personally I didn’t follow that path I have been logical on shadowlands. Shadowlands for me was a mess of an expansion I can tell that something happened behind the scenes and no one even considered that option. And also the systems and borrowed power didn’t help the situation. To me the hate for shadowlands is misplaced and not honest from my perspective. If the hate were honest it wouldn’t follow the same talking points from online personalities.

I was with you for the most part until this…

You know they call it the majority opinion for a reason, right? If something is bad and agreed to be bad, people are going to call it bad.

Whether or not “online personalities” said so or not. Not everyone follows them, sometimes the majority just share the opinions because it’s the majority and said thing… is bad. Warlords of Draenor & BFA are also perfect examples of what you are talking about.

There good aspects to both, but overall the enjoyment of both expansions was on the lower side of things. For X or Y reason. I consider Shadowlands inherently worse then both of those combined, but that’s my subjective personal opinion.

As Uiguy said. The court of public opinion of the majority deemed it a bad expansion. You can disagree til you’re blue in the face but the fact remains that it was not a loved experience and those few as you who seem to have this hill to die on will be the minority of the few sadists who liked it.

Online personalities can throw an option, they are still one person be it with a following to push their opinion onto their views. Doesn’t make their opinions any more right than others. What they say is not law.

Shadowlands sucked. That is the majority rule and verdict of the player base. That’s just how it is.

yes I hated it but I don’t see how that is biased. What exactly is the bias?

Give it time.

These days people are defending WoD.

Nothing fixes an expansion’s flaws quite as well as a good pair of rose tinted glasses lol

Time and distance heal all wounds, including those inflicted by bad games lol

I liked Shadowlands, had lots of fun with lots of great people, but there was a whole lot that really didn’t work, and needed to be addressed going through the xpac which honestly shouldn’t have been a feature or a learning moment, but never should’ve gone live. Like the restricted covenants and anima grind for example.

WOD had the best questing experience in over a decade. There was a lot of things right about that expansion there just wasn’t enough content plus this no flying business was really game destroying. Now that we can fly in there the content improved greatly.

Shadowlands have the worst questing experience ever imo.

I am not reading all of that. But I’m happy for you, or sorry that happened to you. Whichever applies.

Shadowlands didn’t respect your time with longer quests to complete. The story was laughably horrendous also.

Also Torghast was a boring slog with no real reason to run it after getting your legendary.

But you said yourself that the Shadowlands was a mess which I agree with too. I didn’t like it cause it made the afterlife strange and most of the zone campaigns were really bad and awkward. I didn’t care about the Jailer, I kinda liked the Maw but it got old fast, and the two expansion zones were not for me.

The Sylvanas story was pretty terrible, or perhaps terribly told as well. Zereth Mortis where we can ‘walk on water’ oooooooh was okayish but nothing amazing.

For me to be completely honest Shadowlands was just a painfully boring expansion. I had zero investment or care in the world about almost the entirety of it. I got the fun out of Torghast that I could at least.

Better dungeons

Fun affixes in S3+S4 (in m+)

Leveling was actual gameplay, and was incentivized by money printing mission tables. Pretty sure you can lvl a charr to max lvl in 8-10 hours if you are efficient now. I probably leveled like 25 characters to max lvl to print money and I enjoyed this a lot. Was chill gameplay. Same as in Legion.

Had more fun playing specs like casino VdH in S3 and S4. Most specs were honestly more fn to play, except Prot warrior which was super degen and annoying (if played optimally).

Lore was the worst WoW ever had though. Although if you wanna be contrarian you could argue that even the clown lore of Shadowlands was better than the ´´Lets talk about our feelings and talk about how doing evil stuff is evil´´ story we had this expansion.

I unironically enjoyed Shadowlands more than DF, still not a good expansion though.

Metzen literally said it was the definitive source of all things WoW lore. The new writers are trash and decided it was a titan perspective and later making it even worse with the “unreliable narrator” garbage.

Nah. The Shadowlands was a contradictory mess with characters acting like utter idiots.

So this part is in BfA, but it sets the tone for Shadowlands idiocy. Prince Anduin invades Blight Central without a single thought for dealing with the Blight. The only reason the Alliance wasn’t wiped out was because of Jaina popping in. Then they walk up to Sylvanas and try to reason with her, which gives her an opportunity to escape. And then she escapes on a blimp, which is not known for being speedy. Which apparently was just hanging around while the Alliance was still outside and wasn’t immediately shot down because reasons.

Then the Arbiter goes silent and anima starts drying up, but the Winter Queen and Kyrestia just sit on their butts while their realms fall apart. They never even bother to try and find out what’s going on.

Then Elune lets Teldrassus burn so the Night Elves can be sent to Ardenweald to help her sister. Which wouldn’t have been needed if the Winter Queen had done anything to figure out what was going on. Or if Elune had bothered even talking to her sister in the first place to try and help figure things out.

And let’s not forget Bolvar’s brilliant plan to hand over the Sigils to the Jailer by bringing them right to his front door. Good thing they could be remade so easily or we’d have completely lost because of his idiocy.

And to top it all off, we never find out what the Jailer was up to. His big plan to “save us” from some future threat is just vague nonsense that we only learned about after he died. And I’m not sure our characters even know about it.

SL was a dark expansion with dark themes in mostly all dark maps . The player base does not like that .

As I said, nothing fixes an expansion’s flaws like a good pair of rose tinted glasses lol

The hate for shadowlands is biased

uh…you DO know what the word ‘biased’ means, correct?

not that you cant post it, but this entire thread was pointless if this is your reason for posting it
ALL subjective personal preference is by definition “bias” because we ARE biased to things we prefer.
and your attempt at negotiating the issue with us isnt going to change OUR preferences in what WE like or dont like…
You know that…right? lol

I hate pickled beets.
You think talking at me about it, telling me how great they are is going to make me not hate them?
SAME EXACT thing here lol
