The genius of fresh start TBC only

Then cap the amount of gold you can bring into BC. Gold really isnt that big of a deal. A fresh start will destroy the communities that have already been built, and render the alliance extinct. The only argument anyone has for a fresh start is gold, while ignoring all the other issues forcing players to start at level 1 for an expansion, which was never intented behavior, would cause. There’s a reason BC pirate servers were never popular, and it’s not that BC is bad.

How is a cap going to stop people from investing in mats that would be used for JC? Or just items of comparable value? Caps do nothing to stop fetermined players. Better that people on live servers stick to them and you have One or 2 Fresh servers that cannot be target transfer servers for 6 months or so.

No matter what happens moving forward the community is going to split on some level.

Blizzard progresses all the servers:
People quit because they only wanted Vanilla

Blizzard does Transfers to Target servers and Classic Servers:
People Move around to different servers while some stay on classic

Blizzard doesnt release TBC for some reason:
People quit anyway and community still dies

In the end the community is still going to go though a massive shift as people either quit for not there thing or move to the “good” Faction or get left out of raid groups or reroll to play with friends on another server.

This idea that the community is some how sacrosanct and remains forever is not a real thing when you look at the differences in how people WANT to play the game.

Any argument that is Restart fresh only is always going to be a bad argument and one that should be argued against cause it solves the one singular problem of gold while creating far more.

There is a clear answer for this and it is to say there are MULTIPLE options for people. Pgoression for people that want to keep there character and Fresh for people that want fresh. If the community survives progression in whatever form it takes good. All the better for it.

This isnt an us or them only this is you have your server Progression and Fresh people have Fresh. One way or the other is just going to cause more issues for people and make the game less appealing.

You weren’t told it would be a museum of sorts. Ion said the devs joked that vanilla belongs in a museum. Not that it would be. The myriad of changes has proven that already.

Every single one of these threads inevitably ends up the same way.

I KNOW YOU KNOW I BOUGHT GOLD JUST LET ME KEEP IT AND RUIN ANOTHER GAME’S ECONOMY REEEEEE

The fact that gold is a sticking point shows it wasn’t earned it was bought. If you actually had earned it legit, you’d be willing to do it again.

No, you paid money for that gold and your behavior gives it away.

This game we all have to play where we know you did, you know you did, you know we know you did but you still lie about it is cute but tiring.

It absolutely will not put people on the same playing field. I’ve practiced leveling on tbc pservers. I know the best grinding and farming spots. You can’t take my first hand exp and knowledge away. Sure some of you will watch vids and guides but it’s not even close to first hand experience. There is no even playing field. It’s a delusion you all tell yourselves to feel better only to complain a week later when the no lifers are so far ahead you struggle to catch up.

At least with progressive you take some gold with you so you’re not that far behind. Some of us have been practicing and our knowledge will just put you further behind than you realize.

I’ve never bought gold. I made 3k in 2 weeks selling plaguebloom and dreamfoil. You don’t need to buy gold to have obscene amounts of money.

And how does fresh servers stop players from doing literally the exact same thing they did in classic? The end result is going to be exactly the same, you will have just as many botters, farmers and gold sellers. Classic was a fresh start, look how it is now js.

Blizzard spent over a decade trying to get rid of this problem. They gave up and released tokens instead. What makes anyone think they will magically solve a 15 year old issue for BC?

Tbh there should be no fresh servers, they will all be ghost towns. Why would anyone want to roll fresh and be level 30, while on regular servers you could be 70 and pvping or raiding? Fresh causes significantly more problems than it “solves” and players will see that in about 2 weeks and jump ship, guarenteed.

this. At least with progression servers those alliance players will be less willing to abandon their tier 3 decked out toons and alts that they’ve worked on for so long. If it’s fresh there is quite literally nothing holding them back from rolling horde.

90% of the playerbase be BE. It would be completely ridiculous lol

Offering Fresh as an option is a benefit imo. Maybe the economy will trend back to what it is on classic. But you can’t deny that taking at the gold generated over the nearly 2 years of classic would have a lasting effect for at least the first couple months (When acquiring and buying items off the AH is arguably the most important).

In addition, consider that if you offer both kinds of servers, do you really think the gold buyers of classic are going to roll fresh when they have literally invested 100s if not 1000s if real life currency into in game gold? I would argue that the fresh realms will have a significantly lower amount of gold buyers not only because of that but also because the gold price on these new realms is going to be outrageously expensive compared to the classic realms where the botters have already acquired millions if not billions of gold over the last 2 years.

TBC unlike vanilla also is much more friendly to casual gold farming by having very few limited nodes (i.e black lotus) and offering dailies that they can use to generate comparable gold to raw mob farming.

Finally Fresh just offers a different experience for some players which is much more fun. There is no denying how powerful naxx gear is and for those looking for a more engaging raiding experience, the prospect of everyone starting in greens is much more appealing.

I think the opposite is true. If I earned the gold in game that represents a significant time investment that I wouldn’t want to do again. If it was just a couple hours at my job I likely have enough disposable income to easily buy it again.

I think Kathrus buys gold and thinks because he does it we must all do it. Maybe he doesn’t… but his premise that anyone who doesn’t want to lose their gold must buy it is wildly wrong lol.

The funny thing about his argument… he says everything BUT gold is fine… so he literally only gives people one thing to complain about then says ohh that’s what you’re complaining about you must have obtained it illegally.

If your “community” is that fragile, then it is no great loss.

Mages cant solo farm like they did cause theres AOE caps so the boosting meta from mages no logner exists. Thus what happened in Classic already cant be repeated. Prot Pala is the new meta and it not as effective for leveling as the mages were.

Botters are going stick to better places to farm since there is no required resrouce that they can readily farm with limited quantities that are not going to be infested with players. So they lose the Lotus and Herbalism they used in Classic to get rich.

Historically its better to just farm instances in Vanilla than actually go to tbc to try and compete with players even with teleport hacks since there is no single source other than Motes that will get the most attnetion.

This is your opinion and nothing more. There are plenty of people on this forums and some Copy cat survey asking about fresh and the numbers are rather split on keeping or starting over.

No problems to any person other than those that are worried about some vague idea that there community is going to crumble because people actually dont want to deal with the legacy problems it brings.

The only real issue i keep seeing is how progression people keep telling me and others that i dont want something and i MUST do it there way. While some Fresh only people say fresh is the only way i persoanlly want you Progression players to keep playing on your servers and stop telling me how i should enjoy the game if given the option. If it sucks in the future hey that happened to some of the classic servers and ill deal with that when it comes.

I don’t think you know what ‘literally’ means.

This will have a much larger negative impact on casual players than it will on very wealthy players. People ask for this, thinking it’s going to help them. It’s usually the opposite. The hardcore and super wealthy will be super rich again in a month, and the casuals will be left with nothing. Struggling. Blizzard’s never going to do this anyway, and it’s for this very reason.

If you let people copy or transfer via Progression realms, then those characters can pay transfer to new Fresh realms and create a bunch of problems.

Either separate Fresh realms from Progression realms or don’t do Progression realms.

People who want to play TBC do not want to have the realm economy turn into a dumpster fire on day 1.
Yes, Blizzard should actively work against exploits and work to stagger RMT.

People who used OG WoW as a catalyst for this type of thing are essentially saying that they want to profit from RMT in a way that hurts the bottom-line for Blizzard and hurts the overall experience for players.

Having Progression realms whereby you’re giving a free-pass to RMT to go and create the same kind of problems all over again, is a downright failure of Blizzard to protect their own profitability.

Regardless, having restricted Fresh realms that are more closely monitored by Blizzard is a good way to avoid more drop off and frustration from the playerbase and a good way to protect their profitability in the long run.

The only way a fresh TBC server is worth ANYTHING is if it is a TBC+ server where they actively work to address issues they refused to address the first time around making it where the DPS disparity isn’t as huge of an issue in PvE nor are the racials in PvE or PvP.

Outside of that, you will still get the same Min/Maxing we have now and you aren’t going to stop the gold sellers or grinders just by doing a reset, you will just slow them down and cause more damage than good in the process.

No, I disagree. I want to keep my characters and play them in TBC.
