The gap between M+ and Delves

This is why.

^^^

Seems fair and common if CE is a team goal.

Yep. Have had multiple people tell me im not “forced” into delves.

I hate delves. I find them over boring and over rewarding personally.

Your opinion has zero credibility with me so good for you I guess.

Maybe.

Our reqs were 4x 10s and nothing else.

Everyone says dungeons below a 7 are a waste of time because delves has made them that way. M+ players would have had to progress through that range before, while also getting rewarded. Now they just do delves and do the keys simply for score. Because you don’t have to roll on delve gear.

You’re underselling how easy it is to get heroic gear and how easily farmable maps are. Just because you don’t do it doesn’t mean others don’t. You don’t even need a key to get a map to drop.

The point is, you could be progressing through adventurer, explorer, and veteran gear just fine and stay in your delve gearing path. Even up to champion, which has an issue of its own in that champion and heroic track items are basically the same exact thing if you don’t go for gilded crests. THAT is one of the biggest issues this season as well.

If delves only rewarded champion level gear, and heroic level gear had more of a gap between champion, the gearing would be in a healthier spot.

You’re failing to realize that the gear and gear track you get is all arbitrary. You only need the level of gear that is contained within the system and progress within that system. If you were simply happy with delves you wouldn’t care about the gear getting nerfed.

I think it benefits players by providing a bit of incentive to continue playing the game by keeping them at hero track. You don’t need to upgrade those hero pieces completely but you can do so. Which not only gives incentive to try other content but also allows access to mythic mogs if I’m not mistaken.

Upgrading to 5/6 heroic gives you the myth mogs, right?

My opinion is that the whole point of making it Hero gear is to try to incentivize Delvers to go try M+, because they really can’t upgrade past the Champion level otherwise anyway. Instead of having the hard champion cap and just stopping, by having extra slots in a hero piece they are going to want to try to get gilded crests and that means M+.

Of course, this plus the squish led to folks that aren’t ready for M+ at that level pushing hard into those levels, and that’s a big part of the issue. Which is why the some of the “above casuals” as you put it want to then nerf the delve gear, versus alternative course corrections.

Honestly? I run 7s instead of 8s in delves because they are easier, and I don’t mind the extra crest spend to upgrade. But I’m often distracted while I play and want it as simple as possible. One look at my gear (my rogue is my main now, but this one I was building up) I only have like maybe 10-12 gilded crests on all of my characters combined, because I didn’t care about the +8 giving what, 2? Meh.

And as I’ve said, there are SO MANY places to get Hero gear, that worrying about the vault is more an amusement than anything else. I did 4 delves this week on this character to open up 2 slots, because I’ve gotten a lot of hero gear in other slots already, from other sources.

Requirements vary from team to team, tho having less vault options from the start statistically would need MORE time to gear the team with 4/4 tier, its plain and simple.

Many seem to see that as a downside it appears, because they don’t want to wear incomplete gear and see delve progression as unfinished because of that.

I think that’s a perspective provided by players that want it nerfed to champion and not a delver perspective to be entirely honest with you.

So all the requests for gilded crests to come from delves are being made by bad faith actors? It seems the only reason to make that request is to upgrade the hero gear you got from delves.

Just go through this thread.

Nope not at all. Gilded crests also wouldn’t be “coming” to delves they’d just actually be seen as end of delve rewards at the top tier.

But asking for delves to drop gilded crests is basically the polar opposite of asking for your track to be dropped to champion.

Yes but they’re both solutions to the same problem, which is that people don’t want their gear to look unfinished in their eyes.

On the gilded crest issue, the new reduction in crest upgrade costs has opened this up entirely, which is why I believe they did it. My rogue right now has over 900 weathered crests and over 200 … whatever the second one is, all waiting to be upconverted to runed. Which then going forward lets me push towards converting to gilded, thanks to 5 crafted 619 slots.

Nobody actually cares about this. This is purely a GD forum issue that I have never heard anyone talk about in game.

You’d be better better off making at least a 636 crafted weapon before upgrading any hero track items, if not ignoring hero track entirely and just crafting.

It’s literally more crest efficient to craft than upgrade after the recent changes (Something I think is extremely dumb).

Sure, I get that. Especially now that they lowered the cost of the crest for doing so.

Why can’t your wall be 619? Why must you feel forced to upgrade the gear to 6/6? Would you be soothed if you were limited to 8/8 champion, which also happens to be 619?
