WoW Classic exists because Retail wasn’t fun anymore. Why? Several reasons come to my mind. I’m sure there are more but here are a few.
They destroyed the early game experience. By boosting characters and bypassing the leveling, exploration, and learning phase, they devalued the hard work of so many for a quick dollar. Quick gratification for a price.
Retail is all about the end game. Everyone is in a rush to get to the end because that’s all that’s left for challenge.
Level squish, Level scaling, and ALMOST the entire Cataclysm expansion were just bad ideas. With a little foresight these things either could have been improved or been unnecessary at all.
Money for Nothing. Boosters have earned a negative stigma. They’ve sold out the good of the game for personal benefit. It’s not all their fault. Boosts exist because Blizzard wants to cash in whenever they can. This stigma causes some players to shun the boosters ( I do this myself ). The expertise of said character doesn’t matter. I don’t run with sell-outs.
The entitlement culture. A version of the game already exists that pandered to the “I Want This…” culture. That is retail. Making changes that aren’t necessary to improve the Classic version, only moves us closer to a Retail copy.
Honestly none of the raids or content before them were difficult in classic. Aside from a boss or two in each they were steamroll easy. This is fine, for most people wow launched as the easy mmo that everyone could engage with. I don’t remember where I read it but for an mmo there’s a balance between world and game and different games lean further one way or the other. Classic wow had a good balance where the content is easy but feels rewarding and there’s a sense of immersive consistent progression for your character until almost the very end.
While I’m sure that the expertise of a level 14 warlock is of profound nature. Sure as well that you were involved in the making of the game and for whom the game was made. I can assure you that you are categorically incorrect. Feel free to leave more inconsequential ramblings. They amuse me greatly.
I too share elation that you can read. I wouldn’t have thought it possible considering previous encounters with you. It’s nice to know people can improve. Keep up the good work!
It’s a matter of investment and perception. If you want to post an opinion, that’s your business. If you want people to respect your opinion, you need to “have a dog in the race”.
