I saw a man explaining why he doesn’t PvP, this was what he said:
This forum is far more toxic than the PvP community. If you hang around here for any period of time at all, the PvP community begins to feel like your Sunday School group. The forums are a popularity, familiarity contest where the journey for truth is abandoned in favor of the desire to “win” using some faulty logic that sounds somewhat convincing.
You guys can come here all you want spreading about how you’ve actually seen some really positive things on these forums, how there are a few bad eggs but overall it’s a good community, and about how you try to be helpful, then go back to every other thread where you resume telling people they’re not needed, morons, and demeaning them in every way from bold to simply patronizing.
“Y u being negative about negativity, u just adding to it”—yes, I am choosing to shed light on the negativity around here and my distaste for it. Saying that doesn’t make anything I said untrue, it only makes you feel a bit better since you got your desperate pseudo-logical-while-missing-the-point zinger you so desperately crave, which only further goes to demonstrate your predatory nature.

Sure there are bright spots, we all see them…
But i doubt anyone here is going to argue the forums are not overly negative, both in tone to the game and to one another, I mean we are all guilty of it to a lesser or greater degree. You are 100% right OP.
We know it, and take that risk with every thread we open to read and every comment we make, would it be great if it could stop and become more positive? 100%, but that would require someone smarter then me to figure out.

nothing is toxic if you don’t care

There’s a spectrum of awfulness in people regardless of how they choose to group themselves.
If your on a losing team people tend to start saying things about killing yourself, your a worthless person, things along that nature. I don’t see much of that in PVE though.
The internet is horrible. I hope it never changes.
But is not caring worse than caring tho.
Some people have to care else we all fall into nihilism.

Woah. I… I think I like you.
You’re absolutely right. People would rather spit on each other and call their friends to back them in a forum fight than actually argue to any meaningful end. In most threads, people don’t seem to even really understand what they are debating. They read one line that triggers them and they fully comprehend that the entirety of what someone is saying is wrong. People don’t look for the truth of what someone is trying to get at. They look for something they can pick out of a paragraph and stab with.

When I was PvPing, there was so much camaraderie. People got to know each other, encouraged each other, all in the name of just winning one simple game, out of the hundreds we played.

Yeah right, this place is a complete cesspool without any positivity . Says a lot about some people who still choose to participate though.

In my experience, high level raiders and PvP players are pretty decent sorts it’s the try hards who don’t recognize their own failures that try to blame others that are the issue and they’re all around the game and not just sitting in queue waiting for random BGs.
highly incorrect.
mythic+ community along with pvp community in general will always be on top.
GD is just a soft kitty cat compared to those two I mentioned.

PuG Battlegrounds and LFR is where you find the most toxicity.
In organized groups, as long as you’re trying and up to the task, you get treated pretty good.
questionable and not really feeling like getting into a debate for such thing.
sure any non “pug” will be better in any single regard and experience will be always somewhat better.
You won’t survive in the PVP forums without people inspecting your gear, PVP achievements, current PVP rating, and hell even your mythic+ score.
Adding insult to injury, people will occasionally make Horde or Alliance alts to rage whisper you. They promise the next battleground or arena they see you, the outcome will be entirely different.
I have never seen so much vulgar language in a span of 5 minutes.
