I have the feeling your just saying this for the sake of it. PvP is evil, ooh were out to getcha!
Nope. I truly can’t stand PvP of any type in any game because of the people I always run into in those types of situations. I can laugh at the forum trolls but truly despise everything about PvP and PvPers.
XD It’s kinda ironic when you know what Sunday means on the forums.
What type of people? Like Gilescorey said, even the forums are filled with ugly, angry people. Why stand by them, but not us? We’re actually way more nice.
I tried to do rated bgs in Legion, let me tell you I saw things that I can’t really forget and makes it so I never want to do rated bgs again. xd
What did they say?
Well we were all on discord, a couple people probably broke something in their house from frustration the leader told us we were all a bunch of “monkeys” to use a polite example of words and told us to uninstall after about a minute inside the bg, most of them already had given up and people had started leaving. And that was probably the good one that I did. xd Another was just people afking in base shtalking each other for mostly the whole duration xd
To be honest, this has become a bigger problem in BFA than in any other expansion. You’re going to run into trash people no matter where you go, but I think this specific example you’re bringing up here has been much worse / more apparent in BFA. And I’d wager a large part of that is because the people still arena’ing are people who understand how terrible the PvP side of things is, but continue to do it because they want the rewards from it, and then they get angry because they understand how terrible the game actually is and feel trapped.
I know I’ve felt that way a couple of times, especially during my duelist push in S3 and I was told many times to go take myself out or that people hope I get some kind of horrible disease and die.
Given the competitive nature of PvP, and players dealing with influences outside their control, I can see how tempers would run high.
I pointed out that his comparison to having to quest to get the eternal travelers vestments (which blizzard said even on the purchase page) was equivalent to having to assemble an iPhone unexpectedly was an apples to oranges comparison. The funny thing is he got really juvenile about it as well.
The middle/lower high end arena ranges can be toxic, but from experience the higher end of arena isn’t really too bad. Although BFA has changed that somewhat, everyone still playing is fried from BFA.
On the other hand, RBGs were extremely, extremely toxic when I did them back in MoP/WoD (not as bad in Cata though). Still, you can see how toxic even GD gets by looking at any controversial thread. Especially those political ones that pop up in the middle of the night and go to 500 posts in a few hours before the mods nuke them.
True. But I’m not trying to discourage people to do PvP. It really is fun, and the community really is welcoming, more then any community in WoW.
Nothing on this forum comes even remotely close to the death and inhumanity I have seen IRL in the course of my life and work. Y’all are harmless.
This is the perfect example of what I am describing in this thread, the bloodlust of the forumgoers. I am curious as to your motivations in this thread with this specific post. I think I have a pretty good idea, too.
There was simply no point in continuing to converse with you, it was clear I wasn’t changing your mind. When comparing research before buying a car to an in game mount is a fair comparison, but comparing needed work after a purchase based off of past expectations for the uninformed consumer from one product to another isn’t, it is clear nothing will be accomplished. That’s why I didn’t respond there, and I thought you’d be happy with your last word. Apparently I was wrong.
Yeah, and it’s also infinitely better, more gracious, and friendly than any other WoW community too. I’ve made like 20 actual friends from this forum despite its “pit of vipers” status.
Good and the bad. Take it or don’t, but GD will remain.
The forums aren’t worse than how PvP communities look to an outsider by a Longshot.
There’s too many NPCs who parrot arguments here, and too many people who can’t banter and take hyperbole literally, but I’d hardly call that worse than some guy who spams duels at people and then bullies them into quitting the game when they lose.
Reddit can badmouth Battlenet as much as they want, at least we talk about the game. They just post art all day long
Only that poster isn’t wrong in the least. Both in BGs and on the forums, PvPers live up to their reputations for being terrible people.
How do you figure, given that General Discussion is almost exclusively PvE content. Are these bad experiences something you experienced while in game?
Oh I dunno, seems to be a lot of PVP content. Just that it’s not in-game PVP.
GD: where you scan through the listings looking for the specks of gold among the dross.
