So, I’ve taken feedback from several different people from flying.
I asked newer players what do they enjoy the most about the game. Just out of curiosity and to pry a bit. I was told it was flying.
Out of several people that I know closely, I would say 80% of them do not have pathfinder, from multiple expansions. I came to that realization about two weeks ago. They are also not very active in general anymore.
Does flying impact people wanting to play that much? I wouldn’t know for certain. What I do know, is I played for several expansions without having to grind out pathfinder. So that gave me the whole experience of the game and everything it has to offer. It was this way up until WoD.
So new players don’t get that experience. Personally I enjoy flying but I understand the reason they like to gate it. The zones can feel a bit more in depth this way.
I do feel like new players miss out on some of the fun things we got to experience over the years tho. More so when I get informed it is what they enjoy most about the game.
That’s been my skepticism about this new expansion. It seems like they want to make it so “new player friendly”.
Yet, they don’t get to experience flying, when we had it for so many years. Oh there is new races to appeal to new players but that is also behind a grind. I already expressed in a previous post, how I think having allied races behind a rep grind is not very realistic for new players. I wouldn’t like to come into a game (any game) and find out I have to loads of work just to even play certain races.
Has another game done this before? It seems like such a weird concept to me. (For a mmorpg) So…we will keep acting like we are new player friendly (squish player levels) but I just see so many blocks everywhere. That it’s just hard for me to take it seriously.
Personally myself, I felt like pathfinder was drawn out way too long this expansion. I felt like other things were as well. Another thing that crippled this expansion.
I can say I didn’t enjoy grinding two zones worth of reputation. I hope…I don’t have to experience that again. It’s great to have more content, never say no to more content. They should not make this mandatory tho, to unlock flying. Two zones of rep grinding was too much for me. For the second part of pathfinder.
