The flying issue

So, I’ve taken feedback from several different people from flying.

I asked newer players what do they enjoy the most about the game. Just out of curiosity and to pry a bit. I was told it was flying.

Out of several people that I know closely, I would say 80% of them do not have pathfinder, from multiple expansions. I came to that realization about two weeks ago. They are also not very active in general anymore.

Does flying impact people wanting to play that much? I wouldn’t know for certain. What I do know, is I played for several expansions without having to grind out pathfinder. So that gave me the whole experience of the game and everything it has to offer. It was this way up until WoD.

So new players don’t get that experience. Personally I enjoy flying but I understand the reason they like to gate it. The zones can feel a bit more in depth this way.

I do feel like new players miss out on some of the fun things we got to experience over the years tho. More so when I get informed it is what they enjoy most about the game.

That’s been my skepticism about this new expansion. It seems like they want to make it so “new player friendly”.

Yet, they don’t get to experience flying, when we had it for so many years. Oh there is new races to appeal to new players but that is also behind a grind. I already expressed in a previous post, how I think having allied races behind a rep grind is not very realistic for new players. I wouldn’t like to come into a game (any game) and find out I have to loads of work just to even play certain races.

Has another game done this before? It seems like such a weird concept to me. (For a mmorpg) So…we will keep acting like we are new player friendly (squish player levels) but I just see so many blocks everywhere. That it’s just hard for me to take it seriously.

Personally myself, I felt like pathfinder was drawn out way too long this expansion. I felt like other things were as well. Another thing that crippled this expansion.

I can say I didn’t enjoy grinding two zones worth of reputation. I hope…I don’t have to experience that again. It’s great to have more content, never say no to more content. They should not make this mandatory tho, to unlock flying. Two zones of rep grinding was too much for me. For the second part of pathfinder.

I’ve never once seen threats against devs. Just because you don’t like the feedback doesn’t make it “hissy fits”. You just don’t agree with it so you just dismiss it as nothing.

No I don’t like the answer and I’ll never let it go until something changes. I follow the rules here and as long as I do I can post my dislike of things I don’t enjoy.

Why? They are telling the truth.

Welcome to the forum. Stay a while and you’ll see some fun things.

How does your friend feel about pretty much all the other mmos that have ZERO flying?

Uh huh. I’ve been around a bit. I think you’re exaggerating.

By your logic if you get a steak that isn’t cooked the way you like and send it back you’re just throwing a hissy fit because some people like their steaks cooked that way.

What other MMOs have zero flying?

That are remotely as successful as wow.

SWTOR - the mini space battle isn’t flying in the actual zones
Rift

Shall I continue?

GW2
Runescape
ArcheAge

If I went to a steakhouse and wanted to order a hotdog but they didn’t serve hotdogs then eventually I’d stop going to the steakhouse and asking for a hotdog, I’d go somewhere that served hotdogs.

WoW serves pathfinder, Shadowlands will be the 4th expansion in a row that they served Pathfinder to you. If you don’t enjoy eating Pathfinder, well, then…

So are any of those remotely as popular as wow and FF14?

Actually yes. Do some research. Stop being so blinded by only 2 mmos.

Never heard of Guild Wars 2? Elder Scrolls Online? Everquest 1 and 2? Ultima Online? Runescape? Lord of the Rings? etc.

Except that analogy doesn’t really work. I’ve been at the wow steakhouse for 12 years and flying has always been on the menu since I’ve been here. It’s more like they put my favorite steak behind a type of rewards program. I have to eat everything on the menu then wait an arbitrary amount of time before I can finally enjoy the steak I’ve always been able to enjoy.

Guild wars 2 has flying mount. The others aren’t even remotely as popular as the big 2.

I could reverse the point. If you don’t like flying look at all the games available that don’t have flying.

LMAO HAHAHA. Keep being delusional. So glad we have pathfinder because of people like this.

Yea less options is a good thing. How ridiculous.

Nope. I listed a bunch of mmos and your retort was “aren’t as popular”. So how do you know they aren’t? Do you know EVERYONES numbers? Nope. Don’t like pathfinder then don’t fly or go play something else. Sooo glad Pathfinder is here.

Not for the last 4 expansion it hasn’t. So here we are.

And here we are again, 4 expansions later. You’re going to need to just accept that pathfinder isn’t going anywhere.

So the main course of this game to you is flying? Sounds like a horrible game to me. Maybe it would be best to hold off on playing the expansion until pathfinder II is released.

You honestly think those other MMOs are anywhere near wow’s popularity? Shew buddy…

Most of the games you listed are pretty dead. EQ 1 and 2, SWTOR, Tera, Rift, Aion and LotR. I don’t know about the others because I didn’t play them but the ones I listed are ghost towns.

So you’re saying it can’t change?
