The hysterical part being that few or none will quit if flight were like it were when they hadnt gone off the deep end in WoD.
But some WILL end up tiring of the crap blizzard continues to pull like this.
Ive been a business owner since the 1980s. I cannot imagine going out of my way to NOT give my customers what they wanted, especially when its something I already offer. Sorry sir…you cant have that webpage in green. Yes, I know we’ve sold it in green for 20 years and its just a bit of coding on my part, but YOU cant have it in green unless you wash my car every day for a month.
phhh. Id have no customers if I were THAT lazy.
EXACTLY!
it gets REAL tiresome hearing this compromise joke from blizzard staff. Having to hear it from duped players seriously grates on my last nerve
I literally just (finally) completed PF2 last night. I think I would’ve disgustquit if it weren’t for the Anniv buff.
/cough
plus I locked myself in with the Sylverian thing.
/cough
Re: your suggestions, I think that’d be a lot of work when there’s a simpler solution: don’t timegate Mech and Naz rep.
PF1 pacing felt okay because it unlocked organically just from playing the game.
PF2 felt way too dragged out. I had already finished the story elements of Naz and Mech, but still had to continue my rep chores well past completing questing and exploration around those zones.
The timegating/trickling of Mech and Naz rep really killed the joy, Ion.
I have time to play when I have time to play, Ion.
If I want to grind out a chunk of rep in a few days because I won’t have time to play for a couple of weeks, Ion, why can’t I have that freedom to choose (i.e., agency) how to play, Ion?
If you restrict my ability to manage my own time, Ion, I’ll just stop playing, Ion.
Blizz is hoping that the level squish and quicker leveling will allow players to ignore it temporarily. However, there is no flying at level cap of shadowlands for X unknown amount of time and that will probably turn off many new players. This is because other games have superior taxi and flying and mount ground systems.
- Diversify the requirements so we’re not forced to play the game in only 1 way.
- Make ground mounts have a strategic element, not one that you have to grind.
- Have PF make sense rather than a random list of chores.
They tried that in BC. The response was overwhelmingly negative.
EXACTLY! did they ask players to give their input one way or the other? did they send out a poll or an email with a feedback form? heck did they even ask for a show of hands? in a word no Watcher decided flight was bad and thus no one is supposed to question his infinite wisdom
Here’s your compromise:
- Max Level,
- Loremaster.
Once you get Loremaster at max level, you’ve seen and done every quest in the expansion. You don’t need to see and do it 500 times over for rep.
Blizzard once indicated they wanted us grounded so we could appreciate the quest and art teams’ contributions. Once I get Loremaster, I’ve done both. Keeping me grounding any longer is artificially elongating the content cycle for other reasons.
all the deniers and defenders of Blizzard want more proof Watcher is living in a bubble and an echo chamber? Blizz-con 2019 he walks on stage and at first mention of shadowlands pathfinder hes hit with a overwhelming tidal wave of boo and he focused on the ONE guy in the crowd cheering
I mean these were the biggest die hard supporters of Blizzard because they spends 100s of $$$$ to get to the event and they still booed him for this
if that’s not a sign of ego or delusions of grandeur I don’t know what else itll take to convince people hes the reason WoW is slipping because despite the bad decisions he still pretends everything is fine
It’s making more sense to me today, I was falling asleep then. The first paragraph had looked kinda like you were defending them, saying there was already a compromise.
Shadowlands fails to deliver like BFA only then I think the bean counters bring in new leadership for WoW.
And I suspect new leadership will restore flight at the start of the expansion which I predicted back in WoD beta.
yeah but given the way things are I wouldn’t be surprised if they held J Allen Brack accountable and give his job to Ion THEN WoW truly would be in trouble I mean you see what happened to D3 the guy that ran it into the ground not only DIDNT get fired from Blizzard they in fact made him a member of the WoW dev team
Watcher is the real world equivalent of Kazzak I mean everytime we beat that demon he comes back in future content with a new title and is stronger
its almost like ingame same as for real world they somehow reward failure and let them keep going
J. A. B. may have too much love for mobile games but at least he would restore some of the systems that made WoW strong too.
He led the charge to revamp the world in Cata to allow flying everywhere. The old world revamp did not work out, but the silver lining is that flying is there in the old world now.
Imagine legion pre patch invasions without flying in the old world or even the upcoming patch 8.3 zone content without flying…it would not be the same thanks to the investment J.A.B and his team made in Cata old world revamp to allow flying. That type of long term thinking is sorely missing in WoW at the moment.
He is willing to take risks that don’t work out but at least he tried to innovate the game and move it forward. Currently the game has stagnated and has regressed since WoD. No game systems or features other than mission tables and mythic + have lasted from expansion to expansion.
You’re not wrong. But it doesn’t change the fact they have a my way or highway attitude and arent “compromising”
You mean as in giving people a benefit that actually is worse than nothing?
Sure, that’ll work if you’re trying to piss people off.
You could roll a druid. The “mounted speed” buff doesn’t apply to travel form. Then you could enjoy not actually getting a benefit from your work.
The have always added a means to glide in the expansions in the form of an item, a toy or crafted item. No need to implement a glider phase
So it’s not flight you want per se. you just want the most efficient transportation as fast as possible. Which while I get I also understand is untenable for blizzard unfortunately. So we’re stuck yet again.
Surprised there’s no big brains out there who can get past their needs and wants and prescribe a reasonable solution
I love how the anti-flight crowd is always trying to mischaracterize people’s reasons for wanting flight.
I enjoy flying. And it does get me to places I want to go. Faster. It permits me to stop and explore things I would never have seen from the ground. It allows me to change my destination if I change my mind.
But you need to characterize that as nothing but “wants to get from point a to point b instantly”.
Slowing down flight to pointlessness is on par with “implementing a game mechanism to shoot people down from the sky whenever they try to fly because I enjoy thinking about other players being shot down from the sky”.
Demanding that players make even more concessions is unproductive.
There was no compromise. Pathfinder was dictated by Blizzard.
