The fishing derby was hotfix so its a semi win for us

  • Hallowfall Fishing Derby

    • Derby Marks for catching each fish while the Derby Dasher aura is active are now character-specific, instead of shared between your Warband (20 Marks per character).

    • Captain Oathmyt’s “Hallowfall Fishing Derby” quest is now character-specific, instead of shared between your Warband.

    • “Hallowfall Fishing Derby” quests now award 10 Mereldar Derby Marks per completion.

    • “Hallowfall Fishing Derby” quests now give the option of either 2 Soaked Journal Entries, 2 Algari Seekerthreads, or 2 Algari Anglerthreads per completion.

    • Fish specific pools such as the Royal Ripple and Swarm of Slum Sharks will now persist longer when found.

Honestly, i dont even know why it had to come to this… There was seriously nothing wrong with the derby. It wasnt perfect but it was satisfying. I did not even participate last weekend and im sure Im not alone. Probably why these changes are happening. Do we know if the currency will still be transferrable? Because knowing blizz they probably cut that off as a trade off because thats just their M.O. lol

we dont know i did the derby last week and got the achievement mount from it
but giving us an additional rewards is a boost also both items are 5 or 10 tokens each

I feel like everything fishing related is being “adjusted” to slow/stop all the fishing bots.

I guess the million derbys we gotta complete to get all the rewards will go slightly faster now that we can do more than one a week? …Yay…

Nerfing the cost of rewards to something more reasonable is what they should have done, but I guess Blizzard can’t just do the right thing.

They need to move if off Saturday or extend it to Sunday at least. I’ve still never done the Derby.

I was wondering why I was getting like 10 fish from a royal ripple.

There are four cooking recipes locked behind it. That was going to be a bit rough on alts if only one character can participate per week.

Of course now it swings the other way a bit. We’ll see how this works.

Why do four alts need the same cooking recipe?

I would like an option to do this quest any day of the week, since sometimes Saturday’s are fully booked with things to do and that means you miss out on it the entire week.

Are the fixes actually working? Meaning multiple characters get the buff and can complete the quest?

Because every character has the cooking skill.

(The ghoulfish recipe uses all soulbound mats, but that’s just a quirk; the more general answer is that I simply like to have my characters’ recipe lists as complete as I can afford)

So… i completed it on my first toon and it worked just like before. Got marks for catching fish and the quest rewards were what was posted on the hotfix. Second toon i caught one fish and it completed the quests. No marks were given for catching additional fish. Rewards were given the same as first toon.
So it appears that its sorta working for alts. You still get the buff and quest rewards but you dont get extra marks for catching all the fish and you only have to catch one fish instead of three.

^^^ this is what I experienced. Did this on a couple alts but not all of them. Don’t want to get flagged for exploiting.

Yep, my job always requires me to work weekends. 10 to 12 hour days to boot. Great paying job, but I guess it doesn’t leave much time for anything else on the weekends.

Why not have the Derby just be a weekly quest? Complete at your pace, like every other weekly event in The War Within.

Not all of us are students, are unemployed, or live in basements. Dang it, Blizzard.

My (completely speculative) suspicion is that it started on the drawing board as a community event version of the competitive Stranglethorn/Northrend derbies, then during development they let go of it being at only set hour of the week, but clung to a vision of forcing fishers together somewhat.

There seems to be some divergence between the patch notes and the actual live quest so the development of the derby appears to be encountering challenges.

I think this is a big win and like how it landed.
They seem to have fixed perception. I have been procing multi fish catches and it comes up and says the perception helped you catch another
