The Final Tinker Thread

Tinker class… hmmm ranged DPS that uses guns, turrets and bombs. Kinda like the one from Warhammer Online. I think that would be fun. Play as an Ork, and go all dakka on dem humies wit a big shoota! WAAAAAAAGGHHH!

You are so laughably wrong with your statements, lol.

Weak concept? Tinkers have existed in the lore since WC3. The Tinker teams in Island Expeditions are fleshed out really well and fulfill all 3 roles(tank, dps, healer). Adding in too, fights like Mekkatorque in BoD only add to the concept. You may think it’s lame, fine. But it’s hardly weak as a concept given all the depth and lore regarding them.

Enough classes? Nah. We need something new. I do agree the current classes are in a bad state but that’s due to Blizzard doing multiple prunes and not adding any new talent rows in several expansions alongside it. But Blizzard(Ion) admitted they took pruning and the “spec over class” mentality too far. So there is hope that classes will be better next expansion.

Dev time is mumbo jumbo. Different teams work on different things. The biggest thing that would eat dev time up is doing a level squish(which I’m against). But that’s a different topic for different threads.

Balance has always been bad. It will always be bad. As long as Blizzard is designing around esports, certain classes will always be bad in M+ due to design. Likewise, others will always be bad in PvP or weak in raid settings due to their design. Even going back to MoP and earlier, balance was still really bad. That’s also why I think they should just get rid of esports entirely for WoW. Who cares if some specs are a bit overpowered. People should play for fun again, opposed to whining about balance and meta comps.

And no. Tinkers are VERY different from “hunter traps” and the engineering profession. But people like you are too dense to realize that. Considering Tinkers are the only WC3 hero class that hasn’t been adopted into WoW as a class. Paired with how fleshed out the Tinker IE teams are…Blizzard has more than proven that they have the design creativity to make Tinkers work.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d be cool with Shadow Hunters or Necromancers as well but I have a lot of fears for those. I’m afraid if Necromancers would be added, DK’s and Warlocks would get gutted even more, considering how heavily those two classes intertwine with a Necromancer thematically. Shadow Hunters likewise, really only have one spec unless Blizzard wanted to yolo and butcher the lore even further. But given the playerbase freaked out when DH’s were added with only two specs, I don’t think Blizzard would do that a second time.

Tinkers don’t step on the toes of any classes currently in WoW. The Tinker IE abilities are nothing remotely similar to other class abilities. The lore supports it. (spoilers)The new Goblin leader is one. Tinker’s have been fleshed out as a concept a lot this expansion. Plus, Gnomes, Goblins, Mechagnomes and Vulpera scream Tinker.

Like I said though, I’m ultimately cool with any new class. Necromancers could be nifty if Blizzard goes back to its roots and makes a unique class without stripping DK’s and Warlocks further. Tinkers could be nifty due to how IE Tinkers are. Hell, we may get no new class. We may get 4th specs for some classes. Perhaps Ranged Survival will come back to Hunters. Perhaps Ranged Survival will have a green fire style questline to make it a Dark Ranger. Perhaps class skins will be a thing, dictated by lore.

Who knows. But as far as classes, ultimately I’d prefer Tinkers because I’m so afraid Blizzard is going to butcher Warlocks and DK’s even more if they add Necromancers.

How do you know the Tinker wouldn’t be unique or amazing?

Tinker and Death Knight were my two most wanted classes since Vanilla.

Yep. No new classes and no class revamps. Essentially they are just giving us a bunch of situational abilities back whilst not changing rotations at all. Pretty disappointing if you ask me

Extremely disappointed no new class in 9.0. I did get the basic package, but not the upgrades due to lack of meaningful content on what I like (M+, professions, new classes…)

what would be more unique than Tinker?

i do want Necromancer more than tinker but I still want Tinker. I really want Necromancer though, sorry Unholy DK is not a Necromancer. They are just someone that plays with dead things.
