The Final Tinker Thread

We need another phsyical ranged class, that uses bows/guns/crossbows more than we need a new caster.

Tinker could be akin to like the machanist in FF14.

Ranged Physical dps, but mechanical contraptions and pets instead of natural stuff.

Right now, literally only one class uses bows/guns/crossbows, since they removed access to them from all other classes.

Physical Ranged, Mail dps.

Are you being mean to me now?

One thing about new classes is that they have always thematically fit the new expansion they are released with. Tinkers don’t really scream Shadowlands to me but y’all keep hoping.

Haha, oh I know, I almost added (And high elves) just to see what happened but didn’t. I played a lot of Warcraft 3 and frozen throne and the tinker and alchemist were my two favorite heroes so either one of those has always been something I’d love lol. But, they’re also both professions so my hopes never get too high haha.

That depends on whether you’re attached to the concept of what’s happening or the spell names.

Because WC3 Tinkers could shoot rockets, make small robots and use a Mech Suit.

And WoW Engineering can make rockets, small robots and Mech Suits (as mounts).

Seems like everything is covered to me.

Techincally speaking, yes. The “Goblin Tinker” Hero unit was only a goblin

But, Dwarves and Orcs showed their own ingenuity for machinery in WC3.
Gnomes actually barely existed at all before world of warcraft…

You probably still know that same Goblin Tinker today. He’s named Gazlowe. Popular dude.

Ive mentioned this in other Tinker threads, but Ill say it again because it was a long time ago.

I would only really be interested in a Tinker class if they got to pilot/use machines like Mechatorque has, or Goblin Shredders. The idea of being in a big suit firing rockets, shooting “Heal sprays” or tanking with an electro field seems far more interesting that a random gnome wearing mail and equipped with a gun.

It could almost have two forms like Worgen. Regular Gnome/Goblin etc. when out of combat, and then you pop in the suit when combat is engaged.

Hypothetically they could just expand engineering to add all the stuff you want for tinker, yeah?

Would you run an Engineer through a Mythic plus dungeon or raid only using the Engineering stuff and nothing else?

I agree but that won’t stop people from asking for it. And once mechacorgi AR are out, do you really think Blizz can afford to not give them the Tinker class?

At which point i would argue, “Why not make it a class?”
If you’re going to give the profession a Mech suit tanking form, Dps effective turrets, and stunning missile barrages… Why not go the extra steps and make it a playable class?

I’m fine if they make tinker if they also make another class that is ranged or fits the theme of the expansion. Tinker as the only new class doesn’t get my jimmies rustling.

THAT is a good arguement to have. I understand that the fantasy of “Whozits and Whatzits galore” doesn’t really appeal to everyone.

Which is why Blizz should make Tinker an Omni-Class like Druid, Paladin, or Monk.

If the class can cover all 3 roles, you immediately make it more interesting to more people.

No. But you could always take a Hunter with a Mech Pet, spec survival for traps, get that Predator-style Camouflage and transmog a mechanical weapon. Then you would have a bunch of technological things to run a raid and Mythic plus, plus your Engineering stuff.

I don’t hate Tinkers, but I think they’re well represented already in the game and it would be a waste of a Class Slot to add them. Especially since unlike Races, we can’t just keep adding dozens of Classes.

That has nothing to do with the point. Using the same thing said here I could apply to any other “new” class people are interested in…even old ones. Mages/Warlocks gone because Enchanting. Warriors/Pallys gone cause Blacksmithing. Your premise is that Tinkers are going to be doing exactly only what an Engineer does, with no proof other than your own beliefs, because Engineer.

If Tinkers have a spec that uses guns, bows, and crossbows, it would be beneficial to them to Also be engineers, in order to make scopes and attachments.

Of course, I want a Tinker tank spec that is more Loyal to WC3, A giant armored mech suit.

Not really.

Because enchanting is about infusing objects with Magic, and that’s not what Mages and Warlocks do. A Blacksmith is a person who creates and repairs things made of metal, and that’s not what Paladins and Warriors do.

But a Tinker is, by definition, a person who tinkers. And tinkering is one of the things that Engineering does.

I’m hopeful for more magitech tinkerer style.

Engineer lost all of their specific enchantments though.

And regardless of definition, a “Tinker” by Warcraft rules is actually a Siege damage demolisher, with a mech that gives Extra armor, stacks intelligence, and fires missiles.

We’re not talking about Tinkers as a concept, We’re talking about Tinkers as a point of reference in WC3.

Mortis, you play a Warlock. Meaning you have abilities from Blood Mage, Pit Lord, Dread Lord, and the Orc Warlock caster unit.
