I think some of them look good for healing. A few interesting tank options… though I’m not sure how they will play. The DPS ones are a bit uninteresting to me, though I don’t DPS much anymore these days…
Like others have said - this is more of a recovery move. People didn’t like azerite traits. People wanted more active/interactive abilities. People complain about not having more based on more difficult progression. These try to address those issues.
Its not perfect, but its what we are getting. Its certainly more interesting than what we have.
They added 15 levels. If your not close to 50 now you must just be sitting in a city doing nothing. AP practically falls from the sky - and all but the last 10 levels or so only take 1000 ap… 15 lvls will be nothing.
I would like that too but Blizzard has gone to great lengths to nerf and invalidate anything that is not current content, including toys. It is very World of Current-Expansion only. Even professions no longer depend on previous content.
If they actually built on top of old systems people would whine that they were forced to play Legion to start their traits, WoD to start garrisons, etc… I mean that would make the world more alive and they could make boosty catch up systems but that is completely the opposite direction right now.
Players: Classes are so pruned! We want talent builds back!
Blizzard: You have talents that allow for tens of thousands of builds across all the specs, but also here’s armor with a bunch of talent-like abilities to customize your build further.
Players: Azerite armor is literally the worst that that has ever happened in human history. I wanted build customization, but you only gave us build customization. But actually, abilities were pruned and I barely have any buttons to press!
Blizzard: Bro, did you even read the keybind thread in which people had literally two dozen keybinds? Anyways, we’re adding essences so you can customize an extra ability to your bar.
Ion literally said how they did azurite armor was a complete failure and people on the PTR before BFA came out TOLD them it was a bad idea and now look. Also, the talent tree’s are the worst they have EVER been due to blizz moving half our baseline abilities into talents/pvp talents. So yeah the player base has every right to complain about everything wrong with this garbage xpac.
Blizzard wants people to keep paying. They don’t give a f if you are having fun. If they did care about whether I was having fun then they’d start making good solo content which gave out the best looking gear with the most stats and wouldn’t have completely destroyed the DK dps specs.
While I’m sure some people will be happy with the essences, the more I read about them the more I recall my frustration chasing artifact relics in Legion.
The unlocking of all traits on Azerite gear would be more impressive if the traits themselves weren’t RNG/passives. Getting that extra 5 ilvl’s to a piece of gear is NOT a big deal to me.
I’ll probably stick out BfA till the bitter end but I played 8 toons in Legion. I’m down to playing 4, only raiding on 2, and find with each passing week my motivation to log in is lessened. Haven’t even bothered doing the new raid yet. I wasn’t impressed with the fill-in Helya raid in Legion and this one has less bosses, less loot, and I’ll probably just do it once in LFR to see the story and be done with it.
Maybe I’ll be surprised by essences but if it’s the same RNG-chase as relics, they’ll offer little to the game for me.
Cmon guys, no matter what mistakes you think blizzard has made in any patch past or present what theyve done is still pretty killer in the gaming world. As developers and creator’s they wont be able to make every single player happy. Ease up on them some, regardless blizzard is still iconic for the amount of people that play. There are other mmorpgs out there but in my opinion this is the best.
