The Essences suck. 8.2 won’t fix anything

Oh my how dare theyi make you play the game! Evil blizzard making people play their game.

So then where does this end? What you said sounds good at first. Then after firing up all 6 of your neurons, hopefully you eventually come to the conclusion that 10 years from now, 5 expansions worth of permanent additions is an insane amount of bloat, especially for anyone trying WoW out for the first time.

Let’s use our brains here and at least attempt to think through the solutions to the problems.

But who am I kidding, this is GD y’all just wanna spout off idiotic unsubstantiated opinions

There’s less “bloat” in the classes than there was at launch 14+ years ago. They’ve cut down our talent trees and our specs. There’s room for more talents, especially passive ones. Also, worrying about an expansion five years from now is no way to make a game that’s fun now.

Don’t feel too bad. This is why I have those extra two neurons.

You’re right, it won’t fix classes. Everything else though . . . ? Some are so brokenly OP it’s laughable. The playerbase has been begging for more deterministic sources for rewards, etc. So I’m not sure why you’re upset that you will k ow exactly how to acquire the essences vs them dropping randomly from mob or chests.

This sentence alone tells me you have no cognitive awareness of the future. Sure, I could make WoW tons of fun now. Everyone has 75% secondary stats, GCD is totally removed. You are all omega demigods. Now what? How do you grow? How do you become stronger than you were before? Do we go the path of Diablo, and just starting critting for 10 trillion?

Like come on man, literally 5 minutes of self thought on this will alleviate all your dumb notions.

Your take on game design has led us to where we are now.

That take on game design has led us from Cata. There are many reasons why BFA isn’t great. Your dumb opinions aren’t one of them.

Your comments would probably carry more weight if they weren’t always laced with such condescending tones. You’ve said several things in past threads that I generally agreed with, but the way you come off just makes me think you’re here to talk down to people more so than to have a discussion.

The problem is by level 120 the player should be powerful enough to be a main character - our characters shouldn’t have to peripheral their way through the end game and feel used by main characters and feel weak. The character by this time should already be powerful enough. The artifact weapon was the cherry on top of their potential - it should have been expanded instead of taken away.

Lord forbid people critically think when it comes to play a video game. “Ohh no i have to many buttons to press… Well i guess i have to be done with the game now” I would not miss a single person who had this thought process. Blizzard would just for the $, but me? no not one bit.

We are currently at the point were you get absolutely nothing past the level of 80 aside from 2 more talents… which most the time are just passives. SO (excluding the rare case where the spec does get a new ability to press at level 90 and 100…) for the other 65% of the classes/specs we get the pleasure of going FORTY levels with nothing else added to our class/spec… WEEE OH BOI SIGN ME UP!

“I have to actually do something?!?!”

Listen your barking up the wrong tree. I want new things too. But constant permanent things just for the sake of having new things means a balancing nightmare. Every single person who cries right now that they want every ability back, is the exact same people who will cry about balance after it’s all back.

Its all hogwash.

My EQ1 character had 40 or 50 spells spells in his spellbook and more added with each expansion. It was made usable by the fact that you could only have 8 loaded for use on your bar and later updated to 10.

WoW could use a similar system that would allow the potential for unlimited class spells in the book and only allowing you to put 15 or 25 (whatever) on your bars at any given time.

So hard to fix a problem…

Balancing is already a nightmare. While I’m not advocating for it to become an even bigger nightmare, I certainly don’t fault people for being apathetic to the future when they aren’t enjoying themselves right now.

Blizzard really thought adding the essences would make us overlook class design. They are cool but still don’t solve a core problem

If that’s true, and they are chained to a terrible progression system, 8.2 should be it. Then they need to fix class design before any 9.0 release, no matter how long it takes.

They have proven they can’t balance the game despite:

Neutered talent trees
Removal of Profession perks
No more stat sticks
Removal of Idols
Removal of Tier sets
Removal of PVP stats
Removal of most sockets
Removal of Enchants
Removal of Unique pet design
Removal of Glyphs
Removal of shoulder Enchants
Removal of head Enchants

And on and on…so instead, they’ve stripped nearly all player agency from what was once a great RPG, and created Lobbycraft. And STILL can’t balance their game, but hey, at least it’s a lot less fun to play.

Lmao you literally took what she said and flipped it into something else. We all miss our fast paced gameplay from legion. We miss having more abilities. The fact blizzard took half our abilities away & made em talents or pvp talents is the most idiotic thing ever. Also making our artifact weapons COMPLETELY irrelevant was a horrible idea and they will do the same with the HOA when they throw this whole failure of an xpac away. Thats horrible game design I don’t care how you put it.

So far, from everything I’m hearing about 8.2, they haven’t even met my exceedingly low expectations. After reading this, they’ve seemed to have proven they are incapable of learning from their mistakes.

I think M+ is lazy design and will never knowingly participate in one. I despise laziness like decent people despise certain types of human predators. However, as long as there are alternate ways to get the very same essences that drop in M+, then they might actually be learning after all. I don’t expect them to do this, however, they’re not that smart.

Semper Fi! :us:

Uh… yes? It’s like relics for artifact weapons. :woman_shrugging:t2:

I don’t think it was ever supposed to. It was just a grasp at “ocrap , they don’t like the Azerite system, do something, anything!”

They can’t dig themselves out of this hole. But they’ll sure try, while also giving us something else to grind for.
