How does this compare to pure dps classes in Phase 1, with comparable gear and consumables?

Its bad and nothing really to brag about, outside of flexing on other memespecs. Top fury warriors are pulling 1k on the same fights with rec. Rogues are pulling upper 500s.

Maybe because now that WoW is 15 years old, that we better understand encounters, stat weights, and classes, we can relax a bit and just play the game�

A mage in my general level of gear (220 sp) will pull 300-400 dps with no consumes. Speaking from first hand experience.
so basically you have to show up with a shopping list of consumables and farm gnomer (lol) just to do the same dps as a unbuffed mage
do us a favor and stick to buffing the real classes

Personally I bring the person before the class. If they hold their own idc what spec they wanna play. Iâm not gonna min/max and force people to play in this very narrowly defined EXACT field/build/spec. Screw that noise. âmeme this, meme thatâ god these kids are annoying as hell⌠Iâll take a skilled player playing a subpar spec/class than some annoying turd RRRREEEEing mindlessly trying to top charts and standing in fire or not listening to raid lead n such.

The vitriol some of you people spew never ceases to amaze me. Here we have hard proof of someone putting hours and hours into a spec that we all know is an under performer, beating pure classes in dps, and its met with negativity. Why? Is it jealousy? If any of you have bothered to watch his stream he has a great time playing the game, and he isnât forcing anyone to play with him. If anything, based on his performance, HEâS the one carrying some people.

But this is where you are misinformed, the player base are not feeling positive about ret, because ret is crap period.
Even this guy in the video is only almost able to not be a total joke in dps.
ret is bad kidâs better get use to it, because it never gets better in vanilla of any type lol.
TBC is when a ret starts coming into his own, and guess whatâŚThat isnt classic.

People enjoy challenging themselves in unorthodox ways. Soul level 1 runs in Dark Souls, Deku Stuck only in Zelda, etc. The thing about WoW is that itâs communal, so something sub-optimal is perceived as creating extra baggage that the rest have to carry.
But I think the video provided by the OP shows that at least in phase 1 it is absolutely not sub-optimal, but viable.
