Ret Paladins - overly extreme amounts of effort for abysmally low output.
Or you could just bring a mage in greens and they’ll be doing 300 dps.

Seriously! Why nerf yourself playing a meme spec? Just be the King and play warrior.
For fun
I originally played a mage in Vanilla. After the billionth frostbolt I cast I just couldn’t cast another.
I refilled Druid and had a great time doing a wide variety of activities. In a raid I might OT a bit, cleanse a bit, heal a lot, and just generally get to switch it up. I felt more engaged in the raid.
As a mage I felt like the only thing for me to do was chase meters, and that ultimately got boring enough that I looked forward to decursing.
Mc must’ve gotten much harder. Either that or people care way to much that other people out there want to tryhard to take thier meme specs to the limit. Not sure what option it is though.
Nope. You need a Druid for the buff, and the Druid HoTs provide extra HPS to tanks. Without a Druid or two, your group’s potential is lowered.
Of course, once you have your Druids, stacking anymore would be lowering your potential, which is why we don’t invite several Druids.
Also, just so we’re clear, Restoration Druid isn’t 60% behind Paladin. It’s more like 10%. Given that small difference, a Restoration Druid could easily be your top healer.
If you don’t know why Resto Druid parses lower, I can tell you: because their heals are slower and other healers cast heals before a Druid can get one off. Give a Druid constant moderate damage to several players at once, and they’re easily the best healer.
If you don’t know what you’re talking about, please don’t act like you do.
That said, generally speaking, Resto Druid is a worse healer. I don’t pretend otherwise.
No competent group is bringing a Druid for Rebirth. No competent group is relying on Rebirth to prevent a wipe.
Any group that relies on Rebirth to prevent a wipe won’t have it up frequently enough for it to matter.
You don’t have to out DPS Warriors, you just have to at least be competitive with them. At least get close. Hell, even 15% less damage and you might not be rejected as much.
But when you’re 60% less damage, you’re going to have a hard time convincing people to bring you.
Actually, that proves a lot.
To do 300-400 DPS, a Paladin has to use MCPs, world buffs, consumes, etc. With the same amount of effort, a level 45 Mage could out DPS them.
Especially considering:
All it takes is needing it ONE time, all it takes to need it is ONE critical mistake. Even “competent” players mess up sometimes. But hey, you do you elitist jerk.
Right, but you’re going to have a Druid or two, anyway. It’s just something nice they bring, not something they rely on.
How is anything I said elitist? Do you even know what that word means?
Ret brings great survivability, buffs, off heals and self heals and does more than enough damage if the player is good.
Fairly sure a decent Ret pally could out dps half the dead weight in here that still cries “retlol hurrdurr heal meh”.
And this is why classic raiding is amazing - youre not forced into a specific spec to down a boss.
I think this is the biggest thing people overlook about hybrid classes.
everyone who grumbles about war leveling really needs to try prot paladin leveling:D ( autoattack HELL)
the endgame difference is a tankadin can farm easily and is argueably the BEST tank for UNDEAD STRAT…
I tank UD strat half asleep while chain pulling and never stopping to drink.
There’s nothing arguable about it, pally tanks are a joke that slow you down. Who cares if they’re viable in 5 mans, you’re just wasting your time.
if ur worried bout that. you should check out some real things they might call you. always funny. never care and beware.
I’m aware why they are D-list, so thank you but no thank you for your condescending explanations. I’m well aware as I raided as a resto druid during Vanilla. But you’re the one who came in here telling people what you can’t stand, when no one cares, and I found it ironic that you’d be lecturing people on sub-optimal specs that burden other people when you play the healer with the least output.
Because, frankly, no one (really needs to) cares what you play - as long as you enjoy it. And also, no one really cares that you equivocate playing Ret as ‘not playing well’. You just sound like a snob, sis.
don the dress
The point is the Manual Crowd Pummeler. Without that this build wouldn’t be worth bothering with.
He had 9 of them in his bag before starting.
I don’t, actually. Nice try, though.
Not quite. Here, let me quote myself again:
The issue is not that people play inferior specs; it’s that they play those specs and pretend they’re not inferior.
I have no issue acknowledging that Resto Druid has less healing throughput in most situations. I have no issue acknowledging that any more than one or two of them in a raid is not as good as other healers.
Needs to? Of course not. But they still do. You don’t need to wear gear, but it still helps. You don’t need full BiS, but people still want full BiS.
Never told anyone they shouldn’t play what they enjoy, but every time I say Ret is bad, instead of saying “I know, but I enjoy it,” they try to argue the objective value of the spec or make some argument about how it doesn’t matter if their DPS is bad. They’re arguing against points I never made.
This is a point so many are missing. Most players I’ve met in game could not care less if a ret’s in a DPS spot or not either way. It’s an old game where all’s already been said and done, all the tryharding has been done before, and it’s not going anywhere at all.
One can sit atop their moral high-horse and shout that it’s selfish or whatnot, feeling offended for other people out of some sense of self-righteous indignation, but while they’re getting gray hair over worrying about things no one else cares about, the rest of us are having a great time all around. Optimal build or not.
Your need to split hairs is boring. Enjoy being a bitter forum troll. /wave!
Exactly. I’m done entertaining with her ironic sense of negativity. Just play what you enjoy and have fun.
It’s not splitting hairs. You missed half of the statement I made regarding what annoys me; the half that actually specified the type of behavior I actually take issue with.
It’s easier to misrepresent what I said to try and score a point, though, huh?
Never said otherwise. /shrug
