Khadgar is a bronze dragon?!
That has to be a typo and I’m not sure how I feel about it
With this immersive in-world field guide written by Khadgar of the bronze dragonflight, get an in-depth look at dragon species and dracthyr, along with the magical abilities of World of Warcraft’s dragonflights, proto-dragons, and more!
IN-GAME CONCEIT: This guide to everything on the dragons of Azeroth is written by the wise bronze dragon, Khadgar, who fills the book with his insightful annotations.
This has to be a miscommunication somewhere, but if it’s not…
It might be an error/miscommunication between blizz and the author because the description mention Khadgar being a dragon 2 times, with different wording at each point so it’s not just a copy paste.
Khadgar being a Bronze Dragon would suck. How easy is it for dragons to infiltrate the Kirin Tor? Do these clowns do background checks?
There are actually no mortal kirin tor members, they’re all dragons in disguise trying to spy on the kirin tor, unaware they’re spying on their fellow dragons.
I don’t believe we’ve ever had much indication of the processes or difficulties for detecting shapeshifters in disguise, if you don’t count our “use instant-success quest item” gameplay (which I am inclined not to).
False alarm, Danuser has confirmed it’s in error: Steve Danuser on Twitter: “Not a spoiler, just an error. Khadgar may use bronzer on occasion to give his skin a glow-up (he doesn’t get outside the tower much), but he is not a bronze dragon.” / Twitter
Interesting pick of writers on this. One is a romantic thriller author and the other is a Twitch streamer.
Well, that ruins my hopes of it being any good
I was about to raise an eyebrow with Twitch streamer, but isnt the dude:
was one of the industry’s leading strategy guide authors. Having written over one hundred official guidebooks for such franchises as Diablo, Super Mario, and Halo, his byline graced the cover of over two million copies sold. Walsh’s bestselling memoir, The Walkthrough: Insider Tales From a Life in Strategy Guides, chronicles his unusual career in gaming. He currently plays, writes, and hikes in the Cascade foothills outside Seattle.
Sounds decent as a writer.
I didn’t take a look at their websites, just a quick look at their Twitter profiles. Good info though!
The Khadgar thing has to be some kind of error in the description, because what? We know his entire life story, there’s no way for him to be a dragon without completely invalidating years of-- oh it’s Blizzard, right.
I’m sure not hopeful for this book after Shadowlands’ own innumerable retcons, every single one of which made the setting worse. What will get ruined this time?
It’s confirmed now that it’s an error. Doesn’t bode well for there being other errors in this book.
Doesn’t bode for this strategy game writer that they got that soo glaringly wrong.
Like you said, makes one wonder what else they got wrong and how that description got past blizzard to begin with
I’m never an optimist for WoW EU stuff, but the team of people who do this are usually not related to the people who do the writing, editing, and fact-checking of the actual book even in a small publishing house. I cannot particularly imagine there is any overlap for Blizzard’s publishing arm, either.
The only time a writer is writing their own description on Amazon is a self-publisher. The average writer IMX can barely be bothered to title their own book!
Oh thank god. From where, Blizz’s twitter or something?
Yeah for sure.
Nope, it’s an error as confirmed by Steve Danuser.
Danuser’s twitter.
Makes me wonder what it’s supposed to say though. Like is Nozdormu the writer? That’d make sense.
I’m cautiously optimistic about this book. I’m always interested in seeing how new writers handle things. It can be competently good or it can be a baffling mess. If there are a lot of errors it will atleast give me something to laugh about. Atleast it’s not being written by Sean Copeland.
