Get over yourself. This thread was a terrible idea to try to push onto others. It’s half reaching and half ridiculous.
We had enough threads trashing people for wanting to play this race. We didn’t need more fuel to the fire so that they could trash people some more.
No one should be telling anyone that this is the only race they can play as non-binary. All of your responses tell me you just lump every single LGBTQ+ person into the same category and same feelings. The world doesn’t work that way.

I don’t know why else you think someone would have posted this genuine analysis. This isn’t a troll thread or ‘bait’ despite what the curmudgeons on this board would believe.
In fact, this attitude is why these places are mostly desolate and everyone goes to Twitter or other spaces to discuss WoW. Without active moderation, places like these become infested with reactionaries.

Mostly recent conversations I’ve had on the topic in recent months trying to get “up to speed” with sociological trends and the like. Add in a little diversity training we went through at work. Mix that with the recent expansion announcement and a little time for these ideas to share the same headspace for a week or so, and eventually the connections were made.
Something I also realized: even if this wasn’t deliberate, I do think it might be indicative that Blizzard is putting their money where their mouth is when it comes to hiring a more diverse and inclusive workforce. In the same way that the existing races are “coded” in certain ways subconsciously, so too could the Drac’thyr be.

But yeah, more specifically, I simply thought it was an interesting observation to share. And I firmly believe that conversations on the topic should be normalized, such that the content itself becomes normalized. Just like Orc males being “coded” as male doesn’t really warrant discussion, a race being “queer-coded” shouldn’t warrant discussion. Regardless, it’s still notable topic presently. And I do believe that a good amount of constructive discussion has been had here (even if somewhat buried by certain parties).

Dragons are cool. If I were going to make a dragon race I would likely do something similar to what Blizzard did. not for any of the reasons Keldar said. his entire argument is incredibly thin. Some of it doesn’t even make sense. It seems like projection of his personal views.
They are dragons. that is the fantasy they are trying to capture. That is all
Ultimately, my point is that these are not my personal views. If I hadn’t been exposed to these topics recently, this would have completely escaped my notice. And that lack of proselytizing obtrusiveness is why I think it has been effective.
Check out my post history: I like dragons. Perhaps obsessively. When they were announced, that’s all I was thinking: dragons are cool, and I’m glad that they’re going to be leaning into draconic themes. I will be playing a Drac’thyr on that basis.
I just find it interesting to note that certain facets of this implementation may be coded for certain individuals that are outside of my (and I assume your) demographic. It’s a good thing. It means Blizzard is actually listening and not just serving up platitudes.

I don’t think it’s that, I think it’s just someone projecting something onto something else based on interpretation and blasting it out to cause exactly the kind of thread that this would become.
