It will be four dwarf races for the Alliance. That’s way too much.
Why do American people struggle to see a difference between animation styles?
The Blood Elves are the most played race next to Humans and Night Elves. I never understood the appeal for all of these three races but I do understand that casual players need a human character, so they actually will play this game.
I do hope so. I have refused to play a Drac’thyr to this day, because it’s just another elf or human variant. We have enough humans and humans with pointy ears already.
Because the Horde is the faction of beastmen and outcast. The only exceptions are blood elves and nightborns. The nightborn are only there because of the blood elves. And the blood elves (actually an Alliance race) were given to the Horde because the Horde probably had too few players due to the “ugly” races.
The Alliance isn’t a Beastmen faction. That’s their identity. They’re the noble knights and whatnot. Doesn’t fit the picture.
You say: An interesting selection. But what you are ultimately advocating is just more uniformity. There must be differences between the factions and their members.
it suggests, more than anything, that they dont have enough employees to make the game up to wow standards, as they squandered it all away over the course of many expacs. i was listening to a former dev, who explained he asked one of workers in charge of maintaining the bathrooms, to change the empty toilet paper roll and was told he would get to it in 4-5 business days. so the dev just did it himself. and this leaks over into development as well.
Allied races are a low effort and successful campaign to market and sell expacs by giving players less. It used to be a new race meant a racial capital, custom unique styled buildings, art, a zone, voice-work, faction mounts, a faction reputation with rewards, a starter zone and sub-zone. Plus the often monumental work of unique skeletons, reworking how art is painted on them to get it just right, all kinds of things like that, unique animations.
I’m actually not in favor of necessarily shoving in more full effort races at this point. There are only a couple that might still make sense maybe and the field is already very crowded and it dilutes the game and diverts dev attention and resources.
But allied races are a sham. They are merely sub-customizations for other races. I actually think we should get them. Other than Void Elves which were spit on the face of the High Elf wanting playerbase I think a lot of them have been positives to the game to player choice. The problem is selling them as the same or near same effort as a new race.
It shouldn’t be accepted. We should not accept an expac where we get just 1 allied race. We should expect and demand multiple new racial sub-customizations for all existing races every expac until all shown variants in-game via NPCs are available to players. As well as increasing the amount of customizations for existing races in the process such as hair styles, tattoos, other customizations.
And we should be able to freely change between them at the barber shop with at most an in-game cool-down (say a free sub-customization once every 30 days).
To be honest I’m at the point where I kind of think racials should either be done away with or made something detached from races, like anyone exalted with a given race’s main city faction can go to an NPC and choose to have their racials.
I miss that quality. imagine an ogre city, made from massive boulders and strips of leather. quite unique to ogres. or a refurbished gilneas with san’layn as a playable race within it, readymade vamp vs. werewolf scenarios. or making gnomeregan a player city, where you navigate its floors on helicopters. so many ways to turbo charge what we already have
They have more than one furry race allready, there are actually more furry races than elf races, and people complain about “World of Elfcraft” all the time.
But the Vlupera really attracts the worst, I had to stop playing my tauren because of the whispers I would get from thirsty Vulepra players, it was enough to make me want to throw up and I have a strong stomach.
Sometimes being in a RP server truely is cursed.
And that’s before you find all the Vulpera with names like “Yiffyfox” or “Knottyboi” etc…
le mew, le sigh. each time it loses quality. we went from full starter zones with mounts, race specific gear (blood elves had their own herb) and race based quest chains with 3 leveling zones exclusive to that race, to two allied races who are copy/pastes, who have to live with someone else, to 1 neutral race. i am worried the next will be no new races at all. its slowly sinking.
This idea that Alliance races don’t get love is wild to me, and I main Alliance.
They always have relevance to the story regardless of what the theme is, while The Horde is relegated to faction war storylines.
They also have more expansive and detailed lore compared to Horde races. Draenei and Nelves immediately come to mind as being core to the main events and enemies of this franchise.
isnt really the point. since cross faction the game play has improved. she was just pointing out that giving us 1 neutral race that we already have multiple copies of, seems more like its just for the horde since they dont have dwarves at all. so rather than 2 allied races, one for each faction, theyve just decided the alliance cant be pleased so we’ll just make the allied race for the horde and dont matter what alliance says lol
This time around? Dunno. Probably didnt even have one planned at all, but thought they could throw an allied in.
This probably opens up regular allied races in the future when there isnt the dev time for a full race (and everything that goes with it).
But the Alliance is literally asking for multiple copies of a race they already have.
So that isnt a fair statement. Because the Alliance has shown they definitely want multiple copies. They just dont want THIS copy. And thats the issue.
horde has blood elves, blood elf demon hunters and an offshoot blood elf dracthyr. theyd also like san’layn.
alliance have void elves and an offshoot blood elf dracthyr. we cant make velf demon hunters yet, anyway, but we didnt even ask for velfs. we asked for helfs, to begin with and now that we have velfs, some people prefer velfs to the original helf request.
anyway, we have 2 thalassians, one of which is male only and is actually invisible most of the time. not exactly correct. its cool, just not a stand in for helfs of both body types. i think we are approaching 4 dwarves if frostborne are allied. i know you dont care, so i dont expect you to empathesize. its just an attempt to explain what the op is saying
