I recently started playing TBC Classic however I have switched to Vanilla Classic for one important reason. I am worried about the security of the future of classic servers past vanilla. If it is true that Blizzard has decided not to keep TBC servers online during Wrath, it calls into question what will happen to the Wrath servers after Wrath? Will it go on to Cataclysm? I don’t want to invest my time into leveling characters that will just end up in Cataclysm in a few years but it seems like Vanilla Classic servers will be remaining, but even then I haven’t seen a guarantee from Blizzard that they will be. I like to have a sense of security and I think a lot of classic players feel that way, I just think it would be great if these things would be clarified so that people like me who are worried can feel a sense of security that the the game I’m playing now is safe from being shut down or turned into a modern progression server. Thank you.
The complete deletion of crusade sets a really bad precedence for wrath. Classic gets a huge row of mostly empty realms but crusade isn’t allowed to keep ONE for its legacy?
What’s the point? The players aren’t interested in the servers after the next expansion drops. It’s a waste of Blizzard’s money to keep them up and running.
I think blizz will make a perma Wrath server if only to kill the largest pserver in the world (Warmane). TBC has always been the weakest of the original 3 eras of WoW and you could see that in the pserver scene too.
really tired after 18 years of progression servers let us just enjoy what expansion we want
they need to make perma everything and kill all pservers
maybe initially but ya might feel different 4 years from now 2 expansions later
Ion himself said that what happens after WotLK is up to us.
that basically him saying there aren’t going to be anymore classic + servers period.
No, iirc he said do you want to move to cata, cata with changes, keep it at WotLK, start fresh back in classic or something new.
- want to move to cata?
only if there’s the option for forever classic vanilla, classic tbc and classic wrath. one megaserver pve and pvp, for each expac would do the trick.
- cata with changes?
provided the conditions of #1 are met, this would be interesting.
- keep it at WotLK?
see #1
- start fresh back in classic?
only if it doesnt overwrite #1. iow, forever servers. progression fresh, as another option, so thered be 4 megaservers per expac (one pve, one pvp, one progression pvp, one progression pve). thats 12 megaservers covering vanilla, tbc and wrath
- something new?
this would be great provided #1 and #4 are adhered to.
Yeah… I have zero interest in doing cataclysm content.
Cataclysm was the point in which WoW started taking a massive nose dive off the cliff and was no longer fun.
This is exactly how I feel. I would actually try Cata+ with new characters if WotLK (and Classic/TBC for those who want it) is kept and I can keep my mains there. I would definitely have characters staying in WotLK and the eventual probable MoP. Those two are Home for me, though I prefer WotLK over MoP.
i presume he wants data on what features in cata should be removed/changed to make it better, according to classic era players. i can think of a few things right off the bat - our talent trees from classic era would need to be reinstated. if they’re gonna have fast mana regen in wrath, that needs to be reinstated in cata cause that sudden return to vanilla mana regen was brutal. dont even bother with z dungeons. those were infamously bad. and rather than cross realm RDF, just mega server the population and have same server RDF. cross realm RDF is poison.
adding all the quests related to a dungeon, at the entrance of said dungeon, made it so some people never even knew where the entrance to the dungeon was located. at the very least have a cool high xp quest to discover the outside of the entrance.
also, limit heirlooms as they ruined many professions. and RDF goody bag gear, did too. should limit those to heroics.
p.s. that deathwing’s spine thing…shudder
Something, something, Chromie shows up at the end of LKC and says there’s another path.
want to move to cata. ABSOLUTELY NOT.
cata with changes. AGAIN NO.
keep it at wotlk. I don’t wan’t wotlk i want tbc.
And you still believed him?
The integrity of Wrath servers was lost when Blizz decided to remove core systems from the game.
I would be fine with this.
Gotta get to MoP so itll have to be Cata next
